  • I started a coin can (5 gallon) a few years ago. I toss my loose change in it once a week. It is about 2/3 full now, I can't lift it anymore. I figure that can will finance a trip for my 50th birthday to Australia. I have a couple years to go yet so maybe the can will be full.
  • Boys like the gross stuff... Find the eye: spaghetti noodles cooked with red dye in the water, toss the noodles with oil, put in a big bowl and put a peeled grape in the bottom and have them find it with their hands. Quickest one wins. Worms & dirt: gummy worm in ground up cookies and whipped cream on a paper plate...must…
  • Some of these may be a bit old... but so am I... If I were home I could look at my cd cases and name a bunch more that were not so much in the mainstream. Saxon Dio Kronos Cannibal Corpse Gorgoroth Celtic Frost Leviathan Armagheddon Sepultura Children of Bodom Mayhem Venom

  • Got a resistance band? Sit in a straight back chair, run the band around the back of the chair just below your butt, run the band along the outside of your thighs and around the inside of your knees. Put your hands (holding the band ends) at a comfortable position between your thighs. The band should be tight enough to…
  • Coffee snob here! I have had Gevalia whole bean coffees delivered for years. I use it in my Keurig in the My K cup thing as well as in an espresso maker. I have even turned my boyfriend to the dark side...he used to drink the stuff pre ground in the cans, now he won't touch it! My first couple cups in the morning have got…

  • Did you notice that the teaser for the next episode DID NOT show Jason or Jessica? Hmmmm.... and I thought the "child" could never disobey the maker?
  • I like the dark/bold coffees. I mostly use the my K cup thing because I grind my own beans. When I got the Keurig it came with a sampler pack (like 60 K cups) so I got to try quite a few. Never really cared for the flavored coffees even though they can smell amazing! The light roast (GM breakfast blend and donut house)…
  • I had lasik done 6 years ago. Best thing I ever did. I was severely nearsighted, I couldn't see past my nose. I was back at work the next day wearing sunglasses inside for a couple days, very dark ones outside for a couple weeks. Last year I started having some issues with distance and night vision, and they told me that…
  • You are not too old! I just turned 48 last week, and in the last year I have lost 76 pounds. If I can do it, so can you! It may take longer, and we may have to work smarter, but it does happen.
  • It's ok....I like the Raw Chai flavored better.
  • Is there a community college near? My local one just sent out a booklet of CE classes, and some of them look pretty interesting! Most of the classes are at least a 20 - 40 minute drive from home, but that is workable. They even have some that can be done online that are not that expensive.... some cooking and crafting…
  • Welcome from another MD -er/-ite...whatever... Great people here!
  • Sounds like you got the ball rolling in the right direction! Congrats! It is normal for people to slow down or plateau after a good loss or starting more vigorous exercise. Keep up with your NET calories, watch the sodium intake (I love beef jerky too, it doesn't like me though), and have patience. Re figure your calorie…
  • I guess I am lucky. I haven't changed how or what I cook. I add a large portion of vegies and cut down on the other stuff. I make plenty enough so that my guy gets 1-2 lunches out of the leftovers. Some days he doesn't want me to fix him a lunch so he goes out to eat. Since he works 3-1130pm his lunch would be most peoples…
  • Hi from another Maryland-er/ite....whatever... Good Luck!

  • You gotta do what's best for you! Any way you do it, you still have to learn about nutrition and portion control or it just doesn't work for the long haul. I have friends that had the full bypass done, and haven't lost what they needed to, or gained the weight back. Nothing works unless YOU put the work in! Good Luck!
  • Good for you Susan! You sound like you have the right mind set to get it done!
  • Skinny Cow Fudge bar! 100 cals of yummy frozen goodness. I also have a bag of chocolate chips in the freezer...let one melt on the tongue and savor it.
  • Another vote for Bare Minerals! Love the stuff! One tub of the powder has lasted me over a year. My skin feels sooo much smoother and soft. It doesn't bother my rosacea, and actually covers it quite well. I have actually been in the pool and the makeup stayed put as long as I blotted and not rubbed at the water on my face…
  • Try using shampoo e/o day. When you shower and don't use shampoo, wet the hair down, rub the scalp like you would do if you were washing the hair, use half the normal amount of conditioner (not on the scalp just the bottom half), clip it on top of your head and continue with the normal body washing. After everything else…
  • I have a friend that won't eat anything white.... will drink choc or strawberry milk (a drop of red food coloring works though), but not white won't touch white bread, but will eat the fluffy not good for you brown, will eat the outside of a hard roll, but not inside won't touch egg whites...unless the egg is scrambled…
  • Ok, a few other things... I have lost 75 pounds in the last year (I jiggle a lot and have another 75 to go), I do the 3 mile Super Fat Burning Leslie Sansone with 2 pound weights 4-5 times a week, walk outside when the weather cooperates, there are no locations for public swimming within 40 miles (I would be on that like…
  • ... when you got to see new episodes of The Munsters, Daniel Boone and Gilligans Island every week ... it was common for all the kids in the neighborhood to be at the house that had the biggest yard allllll day ... you could play at the beach barefoot ... you took baths once/twice a week (no showers) ... vacuum cleaners…
  • Some people never loose the pooch. My mom weighed 85 pounds at her smallest at 5'3 (age 19) and had a belly pooch. That was before she had kids. She looked the same after 2 kids, 30 years and multiple abdominal surgeries (at 95 pounds). Maybe you could work on the abs and lower abs to try and tone it up? Never heard of the…
  • Did this problem pop up when you started the pre cooked meals? Or did you have the problem before you started? If it is a new problem, maybe the company is using something in preparing the meals. I had a similar problem with a vegetable wash chemical that many restaurants used to use. MSG does it to me also. Talk to your…
  • Sorry hun, none of those down in my neck of the woods. Good Luck!
  • Chicken breast (slices or chunks) Boiled eggs (pre shelled) Yogurt cups Carrots (any raw vegie) Apple (any durable fruit pre cut) Beef jerky Turkey jerky Almonds Smoothie If push comes to shove, a protein bar or shake, just beware the after effects. If you will be leaving a cooler in the car make sure it is a hard sided…
  • Nutrition is complicated because every body is different. What works well for some, won't work at all for others. As for your breakfast, I would only make one small change....instead of the OJ I would have the raw fruit. Less processed (not concentrated or extra "sugars" added), more fiber (more filling), and it has less…
  • Amazon.com has some gift baskets of candy done by decades...the 50's, 60's, 70's etc. Depending on when he was here, might be something to look into.
  • The freezer above the fridge started smelling kinda funky. I took everything out and did a thorough cleaning, defrosting, and even put a new box of baking soda in it. Every time you opened it you would get hit with that smell! It got worse, and worse, and worse! I did another cleaning and tossed everything that was in the…
