Sometimes a person just wants a treat. How about some of their apple slices, or a fruit and yogurt parfait? They're both delicious, and with an iced tea you get some good antioxidants for very few calories. People tend to forget that McDonald's isn't just burgers and fries anymore.

I won't touch it. Here's an explanation that's better than I could verbalize: "Compared to fresh milk, powdered milk (and powdered eggs) are stated to be exceptional high in oxysterols (oxidized cholesterol). The free radicals have been stated to have atherogenic (“causing atherosclerosis”) and carcinogenic (“causing…

I don't go to the grocery for much of anything except toilet paper and the occasional roll of paper towel. Oh, and plastic wrap, and worchestershire. I'm not going to make worchestershire. I'm a 'from scratch' cook. I have an organic garden and grow most of the veggies and fruits we eat; and then I can, freeze, root…

I have my own organic flock, and I find that steaming the eggs in a commercial cooker makes it possible to get all the peel and leave all the white with eggs that were laid just hours ago. After steaming I plunge them into cold water, and they peel clean as a whistle.

Me too! :-)

I gave up all sodas, diet and otherwise, as well as those creepy sports drinks and buzz drinks several years ago. They have no real redeeming nutritional qualities, and the ingredients they do have are of questionable value. After leaving them alone for a few months I happened to taste a real Coke. It tasted like cough…

This has been my impression too.

I've always been one to eat healthy. I found that WW left me hungry much of the time, but I figured it was something I would have to endure in order to get to goal. But then they changed the points system yet again, and for me, having zero points for fruits and veggies created havoc with my counter. I'm a small person and…

I once heard a doctor say that people who can't eat breakfast ate too much the night before. At first I thought it was absurd; but since I was a non-breakfast person too, I thought I'd try cutting out any evening eating and see if it helped. Worked like a charm. :-)

I would imagine that the success with these is fleeting. Yes you can lose weight initially. But sooner or later you will either have to learn how to eat sensibly, or you'll gain back everything you've lost with these things. And therein lies the rub-- whether we do it now or we do it later, we still have to learn how to…

I have four horses and two dogs. All need exercise. I ride, and clean the barn. I walk the dogs. I also have an organic garden, and grow much of what we eat through the year.

I used to, and had forgotten about it. This time, not at all. But this time I'm eating very differently from before. No processed foods. No HFCS. No GMOs. No soda, regular or diet. No chemicals, no conventional grocery store food. Just good, clean, wholesome, home grown organic food. My guts are the best they've ever been.…

Raw cream, straight from the cow. Or latte made with raw milk. I can't stand that cooked grocery store stuff, and the fake creamers have a plastic mouthfeel. Once I'd had the real thing, there was no going back.

The word "clean" is going to be defined differently by pretty much everyone. Me, I define clean by sticking with organics. I eat grass fed beef I buy locally, milk fed pork, milk fed veal, and raw milk all straight from the farm. I don't drink any soda of any kind, no HFCS, no processed foods of any kind, no commercial…

Manufacturers have messed with the sizes so much it's hard to use the number as a measuring stick. I've never been a 14, but I have a coat I bought years ago that was a size 10. Princess cut, beautiful gray tweed, and I weighed 120. Now my jeans are a size 8 and I'm 154. I'm 5'3", btw.

Grassfed Longhorn beef. It's lower in fat and calories than white meat chicken, and it's delicious. My homegrown free range eggs. Home made cottage cheese made from raw milk. I eat predominantly local. Can't get locally grown coffee though. I'm lucky; my lipid profile is amazing. I don't have to worry about fats as long as…

I love coffee. I drink an organic Sumatra for my morning cup with a tablespoon of raw cream, straight from the cow. It's what heaven must taste like.

I'm making homemade meatballs to go in spaghetti sauce tonight. But I'm using grass fed Longhorn beef. This type of beef is actually lower in calories, fat, and cholesterol than white meat chicken, and yet has a lovely, juicy, beefy taste. Plus, they have the wonderful CLAs, which actually encourage HDLs and discourage…

If you want to celebrate but not end up eating a bunch, try some beautiful clothes. Make sure you also get some fabulous shoes and handbags to match. It'll help you stay motivated to keep where you are, or keep losing, whichever you want. Your question, however, is "How do you celebrate your successes?" For me, the success…

I have a Bella Cucina and love it for smoothies. It was rated much higher on Amazon than the Magic Bullet. I do still use an Oster for making mayonnaise and some other things.

I stick with whole foods and have for decades; the real foods that my great-grandmother would recognize. No soda, no GMO stuff, no commercially processed foods, nothing with a barcode. As much as possible organic, much of which I grow myself. Beef is grass fed, pork and veal milk fed, which I buy straight from the farm,…

I worry too about the soy protein products for pregnant women, and for babies taking formula. There are many scientists who link the consumption of genetically modified soybeans with deadly peanut allergies. I live out in the country. Ninety-six percent of the soybeans produced in the United States today are genetically…
