I have thyroid issues and low carb works for me. I keep my carbs below 100g and my calories around 1700 and I'm a 5ft woman 207lbs. When I strictly count calories at around 1700 it is very hard for me to drop weight, but it does come off. My body personally responds better to low carb. I would not recommend 1200 calories.…

Wheat Belly is a good read as well. And I second the Primal Blueprint.

Stupideasypaleo has a lot of good simple recipes. I am another nom nom paleo fan. I like to make a flourless frittata a couple of times a week. I went paleo to eliminate foods to determine intolerances as my allergies had gotten out of control. I am allergic to wheat. Not like a gluten intolerance/celiac reaction but more…

Sweets have always giving me reflux. When I cut out breads, my reflux decreases. It could be the sugar in carbs. Most people who avoid carbs naturally avoid a higher intake of sugar if they're cooking with whole foods/non processed ingredients.

You may want to check out the Paleo groups or Paleo sites for FODMAP. I know that the FODMAP diet doesn't necessarily require a Paleo lifestyle, but you will find that quite a few followers are low FODMAP.

I drink water with fruit or cucumbers in it for added flavor.

I love traditional Hispanic foods. I make tortillas out of almond flour sometimes but can get a little pricey. But I do make a "lasagna" type dish out of chorizo and layered plantains. I also eat tons of guacamole and salsa with homemade plantain chips or jicama. Paleo isn't necessarily low carb. The suggestion of Mark's…

I roast my veggies in the oven with coconut oil to get healthy fats and to boost my calories. I follow a paleo style diet but with minimal dairy (primal diet really). When you are eating a lot of green veggies and lean meats it can be hard to hit those calories. Fat is your friend. Nuts, avocados, coconut oil, ghee. I love…

I don't carb cycle. But I do eat Paleo which by nature is lower carb. Paleo encourages good fat from quality sources like meats, nuts, seeds, and oils like avocado, olive, and coconut. The fat keeps you satiated longer. It also helps you reach the amount of calories you need as most low carb foods tend to be lower calorie…

Check out inspiralized.com. It's a blog of recipes made from spiralizing vegetables. The recipes are awesome, and she has several how to videos as well.

I fully believe in eating as much as I can and still losing. I eat between 1650 and 1800 calories with the same activity as you. But I am 205 and 5ft tall. I would start around 2000-2200 for a couple of weeks. As long as the scale is showing a downward trend, I would eat away lol. As your weight decreases, you will need…

As others have recommended, check out inspiralized.com. It's an entire blog with spiralized veggie recipes and tips. I am allergic to wheat and hate making my own bread from other options. I use her sprialized sweet potato bun recipe when I feel the need to have bun for my sandwiches.

Ummmm no thanks on that method for calories. I weigh 208 which would be 2080 minus 1000 calories which would put me at 1080 a day which is under the MINIMUM 1200 recommended by any nutritionist. Also, my goal weight is 115, which would put my goal calories at 1150. I'm sorry but that is ridiculous. I currently eat around…

Thanks. I didn't realize that was there. I don't find it very user friendly though. I guess I will keep looking online as well.
