Low carb diets are not miracle or fad diets. They've been around for decades because they are successful. There are multiple ways to approach a diet for someone who is insulin resistant. People should research and do what's best for them.

Her current macros per her diary are fine. 120 gm of protein is still with Phinney and Volek's provided range of moderate protein intake. They state fat should be eaten to satiety. You are not required to eat copious amounts of fat to stay in ketosis. Ketosis is caused by a lack of carbs and protein is muscle sparing and…

I am always at the higher end. I average 100-120gm of protein a day and I'm 5ft. I eat my protein before I worry about any other macro. I follow protein with my fat to satiety, but always more than 30 gm. My fat hovers around 80-90gm a day but sometimes as a low as 50-65 if I've eat lots of lean protein that day. I used to…

There are a lot of people who have success eating a Paleo style diet with Hashimotos. Google AIP Paleo and you will find a ton of resources.

I eat 125 gm of protein a day. 44.7 is no where near my daily allotment and I'm only 5ft. And my cholesterol numbers are awesome.

I'm keto and I eat all vegetables including squash and tomatoes with no issues. It's not really hard to find a protein and a no starch veggie side when eating out. In fact zucchini and spaghetti squash are probably my most frequently eaten veggies.

There are some paleo and primal groups here are on the boards. I am allergic to wheat and have to really watch my dairy so I watch their board for ideas. I do not have to be as strict since I only really care about wheat, but I do try to eat all whole foods because it does help with my joints. You can also google paleo or…

I get the $5.00 bottle at Walmart. I don't drink soda and only like coffee when I'm cold. They work great! I get pretty much the same effect as a couple of cups of coffee. No side effects.

Be careful at IHOP. They put pancake batter in their eggs to make them fluffier. So if you want to try and stick Whole 30, make sure you ask for egg only eggs lol

You can also look into low carb or Paleo type diet plans. There is a lot of info out there if you google Paleo and PCOS.

Count me in!!

Who cares! I am very self conscious so I get that. But I don't think anyone will pay much mind to someone working out solo in the group room!

This is not true. There is tons of research indicating that a Paleo based diet, which is meat and veggie based and low carb compared to the standard American diet, aids in the healing of leaky gut, IBS, PCOS, and other inflammatory autoimmune diseases.

Nicola8989 check out skinnytaste.com. It's a wonderful blog of healthy recipes that include the weight watchers points. It also includes calories and macro breakdowns. This would give you an idea of what you could eat for your points. It may even work if you choose to just use MFP because there are lots of great recipes…

how is that exactly?? if you're counting macros you're essentially counting calories. I average about 1000 calories a day in a blood tested ketogenic state. If I did CICO and used my TDEE my 20% I would be around 1800 calories a day.

It is recommended by Phinney and Volek. There is a video presented by them where they discuss high fat being a combination of dietary fat and body fat and the amount of fat calories burned from the body for energy that one can count towards their daily caloric goals safely. I did not save the video to my phone, but I will…

haha .. I am on FB more than here. But I admin several hobby type boards on facebook. I do wonder about those who post every single event of their day.
-
Thanks!! If you're on FB, you can always join the group for research purposes. The primary admin posts tons and tons of research that you may be interested in just for curiousity's sake. I would love to do higher fat successfully for cheese purposes, but I just don't do well. Honestly I think I may have a dairy allergy.…

Oh and I've lost 71 lbs in 6 months with no stalls at all.

I actually follow the Optimal Ketogenic Lifestyle like Mizatitude. The science is based off of research from Phinney and Volek and not just the opinion of a group. The chart from Phinney and Volek that we use in our group provides a little more data though than the link provided above. The chart we use provides ranges for…

You don't seem to be eating any fat at all. Healthy fats combined with protein will help keep you satiated.
-
Check out Inspiralized.com. It's a food blog that is nothing but spiralized veggie recipes. It also contains how to videos.

I do Optimal Ketogenic Dieting but I workout hard and lift. I eat around 100 grams of protein a day, about 50-70 grams of fat and less than 20 grams net carbs. I have lost 14 lbs in 4 weeks, and I was already calorie counting with Paleo foods and carbs under 50 when I started. For me, letting a portion of my dietary fat…

I know tons of high performance body builders who are low carb. I eat less than 30-75 net grams of carbs a day and I bike 15 miles a day and lift heavy 3 times a week with no problems. I also just ran my first half marathon with no issues. No one is saying one diet has to be better than the other. But there is absolutely…

I am vaguely familiar with Ideal Protein diet. It is very similar to a Keto diet but with less fat. There are a few Keto groups on My fitness pal that you can join. They will probably be able to help you more if you decide to go the Keto route.

I don't agree with calorie burn at all but I don't want to argue. I am interested to see if you keep up with your lean body mass. You eat very minimal protein. It would be interesting to see your lbm percentages/muscle loss as you go. If you're in the 95% for height, I would imagine nutritionally you should be getting at…

I totally get it. I work with a ton of fresh out of college grads. Three of the guys on my team lift heavy ( one is a former team USA weight lifter and one a diver for the University of Florida) and eat like crazy because they work for it. It's hard to see them eating all kinds of fried yumminess. But, on my whiteboard I…

I usually eat between 7:30 am and 430 pm. I am insulin resistant and have thyroid issues. I can eat more calories and lose/maintain weight if I keep myself in a window like this. But if I am out with friends or on vacation etc, I don't sweat eating later. I just usually will see a fluctuation in my weight for a few days.…

I am 5 ft and I try to get 100 grams a day. But I enjoy biking or running 15-20 miles a day. I have found that higher protein is muscle sparing for me as I lose weight.

I try to hit 100g a days because I'm losing weight and protein can be muscle sparing.
