Love the almond milk, expecially the "unsweetened" 40-cals / cup variety. My wife won't drink it alone, but she'll enjoy it in milk.

Hate to be a curmudgeon but I have to say that this site, while I love it, is getting long in the tooth and needs a makeover. I think the original founders don't have the wherewithal to move it forward to a professional level, sad to say. There are too many basic things wrong that need to be fixed (that have needed fixing…

Wheat pasta is still 190 calories per serving. Check this out concerning Dreamfields pasta: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/404465-dreamfields-pasta-calorie-speculation

Hey, you think YOU've had it bad... People used to tell me that *I* looked pregnant all the time. Ha!

I disagree. True, you can't spot-reduce (lose weight at a specific body area without losing weight in general). But you can spot-tone (exercise your arms for more muscle development underneath the skin). Arm exercises (biceps, triceps, shoulder) will develop the muscles and help fill out the saggy areas where the fat has…

That's not necessarily so, and I'd be surprised if she said that -- perhaps you misinterpreted? You need to provide a reference. If Jillian really said that I question her wisdom. Read others on interval training vs. "staying in the zone" cardio. Intervals beat sustained for calories burned per unit of time.

Another part of the same article... words to the wise... Before I even decided to write a book about the science of habit formation, I had another goal: I wanted to lose weight. I had got into a bad habit of going to the cafeteria every afternoon and eating a chocolate-chip cookie, which contributed to my gaining a few…

Ah, distinctly I remember.... that feeling, ugh! What is it? What is the spark that makes it happen? I don't know if it can be generalized... All I know is that I tried this over many yeas, sometimes with great enthusiasm, sometimes half-heartedly, on this or that program. Sometimes I would lose some and then lose…

Yup, much more "cold-natured" now.

My sister in law had the surgery and my wife had it also. Both lost lots of weight and regained it all back in a few years, just as their surgeon said most people do. Another lady I know who had lap band has not lost a lot of weight, because as she says "it doesn't stop you from eating ice cream". I think of my own weight…

We all need a crutch. MFP is mine.

I track calories per week now instead of per day. If I'm over one day, I'll make it up another day. If I'm under a few days in a row, I'll indulge some later in the week. Basically I'm "banking" all my calories now, whether they are my "standard" or "exercise" allowances. They slosh about in a seven-day bucket (Sun-Sat)…

Two years ago I would have thought "she thinks I'm rich and wants my money". Today I would think "too bad for her I'm already taken". !

I used one for a while and probably should again. In theory it is a great thing though I didn't use it long enough to see the benefits. It's the "instability" of the ball (teally of you on the ball) that makes it work. As you sit on it, gravity is pulling you side to side, front to back, and your core muscles are…

I read recently that the exercise with the lowest drop-out rate is WALKING. Walk at a good clip and before you know it you'll be breaking into short jogs.

Try it with Dreamfields Rotini and check out this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/404465-dreamfields-pasta-calorie-speculation I calculated the recipe with items substituted as follows: Unsweetened Almond Milk instead of Skim Milk Smart Balance Light instead of Smart Balance original Fat Free Cottage Cheese…

It's probably because I didn't eat a decent breakfast. I ran out the door with a protein shake in my hand. Now I'm grazing at the "planter's mixed nuts' bucket that they have here at the office.

Oh, and congratulations! That was always my goal -- the gut had to go before I was happy... and now it is and now I am!

Which ones have you seen and how do they differ? I've used this one and I like it: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm I like that it gives you a choice of which formula it will use, and it also provides a convenient zig-zag schedule. You can probably ignore a lot of calcualtors that don't ask very much…

I have diet sodas all the time including the morning, and have since I started on MFP... its been 18 months and I've lost 1/3 of my weight. Like the other poster said, it's 98% water with carbonation -- how can it not hydrate you? Don't believe the negative hype about artificial sweeteners like nutrasweet and sucralose.…

I suppose that the supplement is something recommended by the doctor? Is it a protein shake? Keep track of your calories and make sure you are getting enough for the day, including the ones you burn during exercise. Perhaps you need to tell the doctor that you are burning more than you are taking in. If he or she does not…

I'm 6' 3" and started at 270. I'm at 180 now (in the healthy BMI range) and feel great. For a while some people (like my wife) thought I was "too skinny", but I've added a bit more muscle to make up for the lost fat and don't hear that so much any more (e.g. from my wife). I went from obese to overweight to the top end of…

I don't think there's a wrong time. From what I've heard, it's good to drink a protein shake immediately after a strength-training workout so you can provide re-building material (amino acids) to the stretched and strained muscles.
