Lemon juice in water helps you pee more, which is more or less the only added benefit you get from drinking it. It's good for times of bloating to help flush you out. Some people insist that it has to be hot lemon water and fresh lemons. Your mileage may very. However, check your lemon juice if you buy it in the little…

A good place to start is to keep in mind that you want to control everything you're eating. If someone else put something into the food you're eating, then it's out of your control. Don't let it overwhelm you and think you have to change everything today! Start slow. Pick a couple of your go-to items to swap out. Then add…

The first was when I decided to start paying for a personal trainer. She's totally changed my body shape and my attitude even though she's very expensive. It is an expense I am happy to pay now. The second was when I was booking a short weekend trip for my husband and I made sure my hotel choice was dependant on if they…

Love all these ideas! Lunch at work is always the hardest for me to plan.

I use EAS Whey Protein (Vanilla) and it's awesome. Lovelove the taste. I can't tell you how many I've purchased looking for one I could drink that didn't gross me out. I use it primarily with Organic Skim milk.

What everyone said is correct - you won't know what will happen until it happens. Genetics play a huge part, so does how long you were overweight. That being said, there are some things you can do for yourself to help your body bounce back and fill out properly. 1) Strength traning is hugehugehuge. 2) Water. Hydration will…

When your clothes start to look frumpy and terrible on you because they no longer fit properly - but you don't want to go buy new ones yet because you know you'll go down another size soon! Realizing you can cross your legs finally when you go to put on your socks. You can take the stairs in your house or walk to your car…

I use the Bodymedia BodyBugg and I lovelovelove it. It calculates so much information and it's easy to use with my itouch. It is very comfortable, though it took me a while to get used to wearing it when I sleep. I have bigger arms and it was fine after the first day or so. It had that new out of the box stiffness but…

American Idiot by Green Day always gets my heart racing. I also love when DotA by Basshunter comes on my iPod when I'm on the elliptical. I can't not go fast when that song is playing. Oh! And several songs from the soundtrack for the movie Burlesque.

I started out at almost 350 and very little exercise in my past. Some, but not much. Not for a long time. It's going to hurt. It's going to be hard. It's going to suck something awful. That's just the truth that you have to face going in. But it gets easier when your body starts to get better at working out. That's the fun…

As you can see from all the responses, I would not ask people on MFP for advice about going against or with your doctor. You'll get as many different answers as there are responses. People are different. Not all bodies respond the same way to different weight loss strategies, doubly so when you've got other medical issues.…

I just drink water. No reason to fancy it up. Lots of ice because I like water coldcoldcold. Sometimes I have coffee, depending where and what time I go out.

I feel like mine is pretty accurate. I discovered that I've been grossly underestimating how many calories I'm burning when I do certain things, so I've probably been under eating for a long time. I feel very confident in my numbers and I'm seeing consistent weight loss when I use it to determine my necessary calories.

Everyone's bodies are different and those charts and calculators don't take any of that into consideration. Those charts are very average. My doctor warned me to be careful that when I get closer to my goal weight I may not actually match up with them and my goal weight should be determined by how I feel when I get in the…

I feel good afterwards as long as I was there about 30 minutes at a higher intensity. Then the endorphins make me feel awesome as I head home. Love it. I don't feel bad necessarily if I don't hit this, but I usually do. I love the exhaustion and the tiredness in my muscles.

Unhelpful people are so annoying. I have a lot of those at work, but I think it's mostly because I make them too aware of how much they are not doing. I try to ignore them. To answer your other question, when I started I took front and side pictures every week on my weigh in day. I wore about the same clothes that were a…

A friend of mine is getting several spots fixed and it'll cost $20,000. I also have a friend who has lost over 150 lbs and the entire time she took great pains to moisturize her skin twice a day and weight trained the entire time. It's been a slow and steady loss. She took very good care of her skin through the whole…

This. The first part of the comment was spot on. Talking about someone's health and how scary their breathing has become is a good way to approach a situation like this. Turning immediately to talking about how unattractive they've become is not. You shouldn't have to shame someone into having a real, honest, and important…

Look how good you look, rockstar!

I have two feelings about this and they are completely contradictory. 1) It's impossible to judge him and what he said and how he said it since none of us were there and we don't know him. I love my husband and I know he loves me but sometimes he approaches difficult conversations in the dumbest possible ways because he's…

I use a lot of recipes from skinnytaste.com which are usually slimmed down versions of awesome recipes. Never had a recipe there I didn't love.

I often have some days where I have quite a few 300 calorie meals instead of a couple 700 calorie meals. I think everyone is different and it's ok so long as what you're doing is right for you. Some people need that very controlled calorie limit or they end up eating uncontrolled meals. Not many of my meals are exactly…

It happens. I lost almost 10 my first week and every once in a while I'll have a big jump of 4 or 5 lbs in a week. It is USUALLY water weight dropping off. I suspect it is probably too fast if it happens every week depending on your size. I have no training in this area but if I was smaller than I am and I repeatedly…

I take a picture every week from the front and from the side. I use Adobe Photoshop but you can use anything, even Word. I put all the front pictures together in order and add a text box of date and weight below them. Then I put all the side pictures together in one page. Then I can see the progression in comparison so…

I did C25K before my first 5k. I could not run the whole thing, so I ran some and walked some. It's fine! Whatever your time is for your first 5k is something for you to strive to beat for the second one.

I love coffee. I have it every morning and sometimes in the afternoon on the weekends. I only drink 1-2 cups a day, but I love the entire experience of having coffee. I love the smell and the warmth and the comfort of holding a hot mug in my hands. I don't drink soda or alcohol but I probably won't ever give up coffee.…

There is no difference between the two words. Jogging is running. If you aren't walking, you're running. There aren't any definitions for pacing where you move from walking to fast walking to jogging to running. More often than not it's just a mind set like someone else said, people who don't go as fast assume they are…

I had serious lactose intolerant problems over the past couple of years to the point where even a little bit of shredded cheese would make me very sick. Then I read this article about how a lot of people who get sick from dairy aren't really getting sick from the dairy but from the other "stuff" that ends up in our dairy…

When I can't make my own shakes with protein powder, I keep a box of Atkins Mocha Latte protein drinks in my fridge. They are the only ones I think taste good and they offer a pretty big protein kick. I prefer to mix my own but sometimes I just need to grab and run. I wish you could get samples of protein powder mixes so…

Yes and no. Usually I work out during my period but sometimes, usualy the first or second day, I feel so run down and sick that I'll give myself the day off. I don't want to hate working out and I already schedule 2 off days into my week so I just switch up the "off" day with the day I need a break. My cramps do tend to…
