  • Actually, I assume the poster is trying to lose weight fast for Valentine's Day. Even if it is does not sustain long term weight loss, it's meets her earlier goal.
  • If you eat a lot of carbs and salt, you will likely notice that you are heavier on the next couple of days, but as far as long-term fat loss, the source of the calories doesn't matter. Of course, I'm not talking about overall health, but simply calories and fat loss. I would never advocate for someone eating a crappy diet,…
  • Brown rice is healthier, but the good news is that based on calories alone, there isn't a big difference between white and brown rice. My husband is from Puerto Rico and also grew-up on LOTS of white rice. It took me years to switch him to brown, and even now, he doesn't love it, but he tolerates it for his health. I have…
  • I'm in the same exact situation. I even screwed-up on V day even though I tried to plan ahead, and I having given in to some cravings the last week or so. I just don't even understand why because I truly don't feel deprived 99% of the time. I eat when I'm hungry, and even though I don't eat everything I want, I try to find…
  • As far as working out with an infant -- I would get a good carrier and go for walks frequently. Little babies love being put to sleep in snuggled up in a carrier during a walk.
  • I would just plan to lose it slowly. Generally, as long as the baby is nursing frequently, a woman's milk supply is not greatly impacted by her diet (contrary to popular belief). I'm nursing my 22 month old, but at this point, he nurses so infrequently and also eats table food, so I'm not concerned at all about my supply.…
  • I would just jump in and get in the habit of going to the gym alone. I've been going to the gym for decades, and it is a rare treat that I can actually get someone to join me. A lot of people simply don't want to workout and no amount of motivation will make a difference.
  • I think bananas are higher on the glycemic index than some other fruits, but it's still a healthy food choice.
  • Even diabetics are not told to completely avoid fruit. That's another common misconception about diabetes.
  • No advice, but have fun! It's moves very fast and it's tons of fun. Just keep moving even if you lose your count.
  • I'm still working on it, but the first 11 took me 3 weeks, and I haven't lost anything in about 1.5 weeks. I'm now 162 and I started at 173.
  • Hmm, I don't know if it means there are added artificial sweeteners. I lean towards saying no, but maybe someone else knows for sure.
  • No added sugars -- as in, there are the sugars that naturally-occur in some of the ingredients (e.g. fruits, veggies), but nothing else was added. Like a "no sugar added" jam has only the natural fruit sugars.
  • Honestly, I bought it once and thought it was terrible.
  • I think Chobani is worth the cost. If you're not stuck on Greek yogurt, Brown Cow yogurt is super delicious.
  • Yeah, I also don't use protein powders.
  • 5 years ago, before getting pregnant with my oldest son. I was 125 lbs, and a long distance runner. I don't even look like the same person now at all. Seriously.
  • Do you do the cooking and shopping? That is how I have changed my husband's diet. I do ALL the cooking and shopping, and I simply told him that I was going to cook healthy, and If he doesn't like it, he can cook his own food (which he has yet to do). He still eats too large of portions, but it's still far better than he…
  • Here's an average days worth of food for me: Breakfast: coffee, scrambled eggwhites with veggies, WW low-carb toast, or oatmeal unsweetened. Lunch -- Greek yogurt, walnuts, blueberries, honey, salad with either a homemade vinaigrette or no dressing, or sometimes a Boca burger. Dinner --meat or beans with a ton of veggies,…
  • I'm on 1200, but I workout 6 days/week. It gives me an incentive since I find sticking to 1200 calories difficult sometimes. 1400 is good, but 1200 is hard. It's the difference between having a snack before bed and not. I NEED my bedtime snack! LOL.
  • Oh, sorry, I was trying to respond to that quote. I'm still new to this site.
  • Yeah, I really agree with a pp that it's probably best to only use it as a crutch and to reduce the amount of added sugar or use a natural sweetener. It seems like most artificial products end-up being endocrine disruptors, and if this is the case with Splenda, it might actually compromise weight loss by causing hormonal…
  • I've only been on MFP for about 4.5 wks, but i lost a lot more in the first couple of weeks and less than predicted (by their generic calculations) in the last two weeks.
  • I don't use Splenda because it gives me headaches, causes intense sugar cravings, and screws with my menstrual cycle. I use Stevia, but you have to be careful because some of the so-called Stevia products actually contain other sweeteners.
  • I love sweets and fresh bread. I *used to* bake bread a few times per week. Now, I only eat the Healthy Life WW low-carb bread. It's not good, but at least I can have some bread. FTR, I try to limit carbs because it keeps me from feeling hungry all the time.
  • I cook steel cut oats in a crock pot overnight. This way we can wake-up to a warm breakfast without having to cook in the morning. I usually put the leftovers in the fridge and we eat them over the next few days. If you haven't had steel cut oats, they have a chewer textures than quick or old fashion, so they hold-up…
  • Wow. Awesome recipes! I actually just had avocado on my salad. Another way I like to eat them is as my "mayo" on a sandwich.
  • Is it crunchy or it is simply not cooked enough? If it is crunchy, but still really sticky on the outside then you likely need to put less water in it and cook it longer at a lower temp. If it's simply crunchy even on the outside then you need more water. Here are the instructions: Here's recipe I generally follow for brown…
