Congrats and good luck! I think it would be a blast in the snow, if you had the right shoes and wouldn't fall. Let us know how it goes!

How do you know your thyroid is 'slow'? Do you see an endocrinologist? If so, aren't you on thyroid meds to increase the levels? If you are and your levels are stable, you should be like anyone else and just have to watch what you eat and exercise.

I have rosacea, plus my skin flakes really bad after being exposed to cold air. Then, make up sticks to it and it looks awful! The only thing I have found that works to prevent it and improve it, is Eucerin's Intensive repair body CREAM. It's in a little tub with a turquoise lid and hard to find. I have to buy it off…

Congrats and good luck with your HM! I'm addicted too. :)

Thank you for sharing this. I thought that once I reached goal, I would probably stop logging food and exercise. Now I won't even be tempted. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your story also! I agree that we can't 'force' family to join us in our mission to be healthier. I'm glad that you were able to make your own meals and let them fend for themselves. That makes it sooo much easier. For me, it was a happy day when I finally said, NO, I'm not eating that, do you want…

Thank you kindly for sharing your story. You know? The more I read the comments to this topic, the more I realize that weight issues are psychological and that we REALLY need to focus on our mental health before we can do this. I pray that things get better for you soon! <hugs>

Thank you and congrats to you also! :) Wow, what a difference a year made for me. On Christmas Eve last year, I decided to not wait until Jan 1st to start my 'diet' and workouts, out of fear of failure. I started walking that day. This year, on Christmas day, I ran 5.5 miles and loved it. :)

That is soooo easy to do! I always did the same until I read somewhere that after a 'binge' or several days of no exercising, the most important meal is the next one you eat, and the most important workout is the next one you do! It helps me move on and refocus, without beating myself up or feeling like I'm a failure. One…

You're right about people saying 'just do it' and expecting you to do so. It's like when they say 'cheer up' when you are in a deep depression. You CANT just snap out of it and be happy. I guess they have never been there so they just dont understand. Prayers that you get help for your depression. We have to have our…

I hear you about cooking different meals. My kids are older so I was able to give them, and my HUSBAND, a choice. They could eat the healthier stuff I prepared or fix their own meal. Eventually my husband was on track but my son still buys a LOT of breaded stuff that he fries, but it is his choice to do so. I know it's a…

Jer, you have the right attitude. I, also did all of the 'fad' diets only to gain even more after stopping them. It is true that once you see those first nsv's, you are encouraged to do even better. That is one reason why I love MFP, I can share them with someone other than family and they actually CARE. You are right, you…

I'm sorry. :( If you've been fighting this since you were 12, I think you need to see a different psychologist/therapist. You shouldn't have to suffer! I too suffered from depression/ptsd, took meds and eventually was able to exercise, just to clear my head and feel 'better'. I eliminated toxic people from my life and it…

No need to be rude! You exercise right? That makes a BIG difference in how many cals you can have and maintain/lose. She said she might start walking, so I'm assuming she doesn't exercise. Anyone would be obese if they ate 2200 calories and just sat around.

Can you not take HRT? You are very young and probably need it to maintain your bone strength. I am 51 and pre-menopausal. I turned into a slug. Gained weight, wanted to sleep all the time and my belly grew so big that, well, I really looked pregnant. What worked for me was walking. I started out at a pace I'd enjoy and…

You sound like my twin! Congratulations! :)

1. I got up off my *kitten* and started walking/jogging/running/biking and lost 40lbs, and bought a Polar Ft4 HRM. 2. Elimated toxic family members from my life and became 100% happier! 3. Started eating less processed food and more fresh veggies/fruits/whole grains. 4. Became a runner! Something I NEVER thought I could…

Last year, I decided that I HAD to do something. It was Christmas Eve... I also decided that I wasn't going to be one of those people who started Jan. 1 and then failed, yet again. So I started that day and it worked. Start TODAY. Get in some exercise and, well, you know how to eat properly if you've done this before. If…

I hated it when the toilet lid sank in if I sat on it to put my socks on. Just an fyi, it stops doing that at 150lbs. :)

I started exercising first, saw results, then started logging food and paying attention to what I ate. I realized that I was eating garbage, it had wayyy too much sodium in it and I could do better. Now, I pretty much prepare all of my meals, unless it's grilled food that I eat out at a restaurant. Not that I never have a…

Who cares what other people think? Get what you want, not something to please others!:drinker:

Are you in the U.S.? Go to your local extension office and they should have a book on how to garden in your area, what vegetables do well there, how to space them, how to deal with pests, mulch, etc. If not, add me as a friend. I've gardened for yearssss with much success and would happily get you started in the spring. :)

I don't think they have affected my diet other than craving chocolate, coffee or anything to get the endorphins going, but exercising? YES. It's not like you can work out with a raging migraine or cluster headache! I suffered with them from the age of 18 and at 51, still have them but not as often. I finally found out that…

Congrats on getting to where you are! You want this, you're working at it and you will do fine! I agree, ignore 'haters'. I was fat because I sat on my *kitten* all day and ate garbage/processed food. I was not addicted and have no idea what an addiction is like, so I cannot judge those who are/were! They do not know your…

No. I knew I was fat. I just had to be ready to lose it for me and no one else. I just pray that others find their 'ahah' moment(s) like I did. For me it was: Seeing a pic of me that I didn't want taken in the first place. Wow what an eye opener! Getting up to 179lbs. I was NOT going to hit the 180's. EVER. Realizing that…

You can still make smoothies in it, just put fewer ingredients in it. I also use mine to make homemade noodles, to cut up onions, celery, etc to put in soup.

Good for you! We need people who actually care about us and support us, no matter what is going on in our lives. Congrats on having the guts to do it! :)

Good for you! I'm glad you were able to do it. It's not easy but wow is it worth it! Congrats.
