Yes, sadly my HRM gives me much lower calories burned than what MFP says.

I'm also 43...single mom to 2 great kids and busy all the time. I'm just reaching my initial goal wait and trying to start maintenance. This is where I always stumble, so will definitely be around for a long time. Would love to help you along your journey. Sherry

Hmmm...everyone is different. However, after almost three months of 1200 cals, I upped my intake as I neared my goal. I fully expected weight loss would slow, but that was fine with me because it was going to keep me going and I could sustain it. Imagine my surprise when it actually remained at least the same. Kind of…

I'm Sherry and I live in Hamilton MS. I am originally from Texas, but have traveled and lived in various places over the past few decades, mostly living in my native Texas and Georgia before moving here in 2008. I have always had a weight that fluctuated and I have lost the same 25 pounds or so over and over again over the…

I'm in Hamilton (between Columbus and Aberdeen)

About 45 minutes of various cardio (incline treadmill, running, elliptical) four or five days a week.

Definitely invest in a good HRM. I found I was burning about 60% less than what I was claiming (and I thought I was being conservative using the machine readings and NOT MFP bloated member numbers. Also, a quick glance at your food...looks like maybe you are underclaiming calories on some of your meals? Things that look…

Such a great thread! I don't run as much as I should, but I live in a small rural community in Mississippi. I just think everyone thinks I'm a little off my rocker, but I smile and wave (as is the custom here) and keep moving forward.

People log sitting? Oh my gosh, I don't care how harsh you think I am, that is just plain silly. There is no sense in really stating my case, though--it either has already been done and/or will accomplish nothing.

An OTC Prenatal and zinc. Actually I take the zinc because somebody said mosquitos do not prey on those who have sufficient zinc. Lies! I won't be buying more when this bottle is gone.

Everyone has their own ideas about this, but once I started upping calories and eating back calories, my weigh loss stayed consistent, perhaps even better than when I was eating 1200 a day.

This is called yo-yo dieting. When you return to normal eating, chances are you will gain it all back and then some. That's my experience. By the way, I am an expert at losing weight...it's keeping it off that seems to be the problem. Whatever happens, I wish you well in your endeavor.

The surgery sounds like an easy fix, but it's not. I've heard the medications, the restrictions....it just sounds horrible. You have to prepare to even have the surgery and adhere to a dramatic lifestyle change post surgery to avoid complications and yes, you CAN gain the weight back. There really are very few similarities…

Daily. Keeps me honest.

It's funny you mentioned lasagna because that's what I made for dinner tonight. I don't think any foods are really off limits as long as you make them as lean as possible and eat in moderation. I had one piece of lasagna and enjoyed it, along with a big serving of steamed broccoli. I also take out pizza and eat fast food…

I eat it....a lot. Definitely not junk food.

Originally San Antonio, Texas, but I make my home in Hamilton MS (Northeast MS).

I'm amazed it works! I was doing 1200 plus eating back exercise calories for about three months until this "Biggest Loser" program at work ended. I did do awesome, but was tired of dieting, so figured it was a good time to tweak the numbers. Raising my calorie goals has seen continued success and I'm not starving. I'm…

I've done Weight Watchers....twice. This works better. The points were too restrictive for me. Also, since you are tracking points, the focus does not tend to be on learning nutrition. Don't get me wrong, they both work well, but for me this is better....and cheaper. :)

BUMP

Natural peanut butter on whole wheat bread as I'm walking out the door. Banana and almonds once I'm settled at my desk at work.
-
Use both and more. I use the treadmill, elliptical, cardio wave and walking/running. I always mix it up...don't want my body getting too used to any one thing.

Ha! I love it. I'm thankful I'm not the only one who feels that way. I hate all the same questions that you see every day....perhaps that's why the responses are no dang negative, though. How hard is it to click the search button and type in a few key words. It's the same thing over and over again. Not only that, but the…

As far as it being a substitute for peanut butter that I would put on a sandwich or toast....no. The consistency and texture is all wrong. For me, that's almost as important as the peanut flavor. It's good for smoothies, though. That's how I finally got rid of my jar.

They make me very nauseous if I try to take them in the morning. Taking them at night before bed seems to solve that problem completely for me.

You are NOT a human garbage disposal, so throw it away, don't eat it to get rid of it. If you want something good (and bad for you) go ahead and eat it and be done. The second, third, or however many more you eat will NOT taste better than that first bite....you will just be full and miserable and mad at yourself. Open…

I have an Polar FT60 and love it. It allows training in different zones for different objectives (one IS weigh loss). Yes, it has a chest strap.

I don't always eat that great, but I log everything and my diary is always open.

Almonds!

Fuel your body. Don't avoid fat....almonds, peanut butter, olive oil, eggs are foods I eat all the time. I eat plenty and often. Oh, and I just got one, but a HRM is a great investment. Recently realized I was overestimating calorie burns my about 40% in most cases.
