Good luck to you too, Amanda. For some of us, many issues come into play...I'm not just a lazy chick looking for a quick fix! This is a last resort, life changing effort which I know I'll be successful following through on.

I guess it's kind of funny for me...I was really beating myself up every time I did that, but then I read in a magazine a few weeks ago that you need to consider it "treating" and not "cheating". Cheating implies that you've done something bad, and you beat yourself up about it. Restricting yourself too much sort of turns…

That's absolutely awesome! I know for me, the food logging will be the major contributor to my success.

I've read every post on this subject, and it seems like many people have opinions on the subject...many people also have different results while taking this prescription, and I'd like to share my thoughts. I have been well over 200 pounds since middle school, and that was 25 years ago. I am diabetic (my pancreas does not…

when I first started at my heaviest weight, mine was very high like yours. Slow down some if you are uncomfortable, dizzy, or faint. If you feel good doing it, do it. Mine went from over 190 when I started to about 165 now when I am doing it. Don't push yourself into passing out, but if you are feeling ok, you are…

sugar free syrups are usually flavored with splenda so you don't need to use added sugar. They also have sugar free non dairy creamers, or fat free half and half. hope this helps! you can buy the sugar free syrups at the grocery store or at starbucks!

If you're going by the calories here, they are a general number put in by MFP members. If I gardened at 177 pounds and put that in, thats what the calculations would be for you as well. Go to fatburn.com and enter your activity and your weight. It's much more accurate for your body than the information here has been IMO. I…

They'll quit as soon as they get bored. I personally wouldn't worry unless they're doing it out of some weird, distorted body image thing. My kids exercise with me...they say they want to, but get bored and give up fast. At least they move!

Carbs aren't evil. You definitely need to be incorporating the "right" kind of carbs into your diet. I am diabetic and was under the impression years ago that I needed to cut out carbs almost completely. Carbs are energy, and for me, my diet should be 50-55% carbs every day. Now I feel great and look better. Go figure.…

I just wanted to add a quick post here before I go to bed : ) I hated exercise. Once I started and did it long enough for it to become a HABIT, I had really OCD thoughts about it. Even when I knew I needed a rest day, I continued to go to the gym 7 days per week, otherwise I felt awful! I was at a plateau for almost three…

I guess it all depends on how you do it. A 4 oz serving of chicken breast is about 110 calories. It might have to be a very small piece of chicken, I guess!

Welcome! You've taken the first step to changing the rest of your life! You'll have good days and bad, but don't ever get down on yourself...you're doing exactly what you need to do to make LIFE choices you'll feel good about! MFP is an amazing resource, and there are plenty of people here who have struggled and overcome!…

When people are totally trying to be rude and say " I'm not trying to be rude, but...." or " I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but..." You know what? That's EXACTLY what I do if i'm trying to be rude or tell you what to do!!

It's emotional. I'm happy, I eat. I'm sad, I eat. I'm bored, I eat. I don't even think i've tasted half of what i've ever eaten...I just swallow it until I feel sick. Because I suffer from depression, when I feel sick from eating it's like thats how I was punishing myself. Maybe it's not for you, but I can relate.

I have a blackberry, so I am able to do some of the logging from the phone. I can't access everything though, and when I log food and exercise I can only use the stuff on the first page...it doesn't let me access the recent foods list. Can you get to a library or a friends house during your breaks? If not, it's a pain in…

Ther was a pizza placed called stevie b's that had one...it was a small chain in mid to south GA, north and south carolina and north FL i think. Back in the old days it was awesome...they also had a blt pizza to die for, Ah, memories...

My schedule varies, but I try to get up and to the gym by 5:30am. I'm not interrupting anyone elses life, and I typically don't have much going on that early...work at 4:30am a time or 2 per week. Then I go for about an hour to an hour and a half, 5 or 6 days a week. My body wants to go to bed by 9pm, so I am completely…

Thanks for all the advice. I don't track sodium at all. Because of my diabetes I am fairly careful with sugars, and my cholesterol is finally at a normal level so i'm thankful for that!! I had knee surgery a couple of years ago, and about a week and a half ago I realized I just couldn't jog anymore. I do weight training…

That makes me mad. I'm diabetic as well...its not like by treating your body like crap, it'll just go away. So basically the doc has her thinking if she starves herself for weeks she won't be pre-diabetic anymore? What a quack...thank God I have a physician who is reality-based

LMAO, such a horrible thing, but I am diabetic as well. When people who are also diabetic respond, check out their food diaries. Sometimes it's just a matter of putting strange things together and seeing if you like them. I recommed dlife.com, and also if you google diabetic recipes you'll find tons of websites. I have a…

i'll try anything....sigh. It's funny how I seem to be doing what i THINK is right...then i'm afraid to try something different. I'm going out for dinner with friends tonight, so i'll make it a good one! Note- I never go out to eat with friends, so this is new for me too

The machines overestimate around 20%. So without my HRM i put in my weight at 20% less than what it really is and it comes out just about right. I've tested it with my HRM and for me, at least I know if I forget my HRM i can still get a pretty accurate number if I do that.

I have to bring my lunch to work every day. I tend to eat the same thing day in and day out until I get sick of it. Try looking at people's food diaries. Mine's public...you may see some lunch and easy dinner ideas you'd like to try packing!

I have one with a chest strap and I love it. The calories burned here on MFP are not accurate per your particular specs...meaning if I put in the same exercise as you do, for the same amount of time, I am 178 pounds and you are 150, you'll way overestimate what you are burning based on the information I put in. And the…

Check out other pople's food diaries....mine is public...I keep a lot of dairy out of my diet due to doc's orders...but look around, you may find things that are surprising and enjoyable!
