  • How are you guys getting multiple ultrasounds? Does your insurance pay for that? I am curious because mine only allows 2.
  • I have two boys already, but I totally gave away everything a couple of years ago. Duh.
  • I'm sticking with just Target. Makes it easy. I'm starting my registry now, but will add/subtract as people give me their handmedowns. I have 2 friends that had girl's last year, so let's hope for a girl for me!
  • I was told two weeks. That's when mine came back.
  • You don't get any sleep the first few months, regardless. :) I'll stick with my instincts on this one.
  • It seems like a lot to pay for a monitor, frankly. Granted, I have two other children so I might have a different point of view than you or others who are having their first. I do know that some babies move around alot. So the pressure alarm would go off for no reason. Then you have a panicked household with an awake baby.…
  • No. I wouldn't. You will need your rest and listening to every tiny movement will keep you up, rather than let you sleep. Also, some kids don't move around much while some never stop moving. I know it is overwhelming to think about, but this seems like a whole new level of sleep paranoia.
  • My big goal right now is keeping muscle tone. My legs are doing great but my arms are starting to revert back.
  • Hi! I am Christy. I am due either Nov 14 or 21. I get my 20 week u/s next week so that we can set a surgery date. I have no idea when my last period was. No clue for names
  • With my last two pregnancies, all i wanted was Mexican food. For every meal, every day. Now I am craving anything sweet and can't eat the super spicy food that I usually like. Weirdness.
  • Vaporizer! Excellent suggestion. You don't know you need it until you NEED it, then it is a pain in the *kitten* to go buy one with a sick baby. I have found the cloth diapers (we used Gerber brand) are excellent spit/burp/whatever cloths. And a couple of changing mat covers, at least 2. Also, a boppy.
  • I was told to skip the bumper by my pediatrician. Safety issues. To each their own on the diaper issue, but I don't like buying things that I can't use without special products or reuse in some way. I still have the lidded garbage can from my last kid and the diaper genie is long gone from my first. I totally agree with…
  • 2300 seems like a lot for maintenance. Has your lifestyle changed? Are you less active in day to day than before? Also to remember....everyone gains during pregnancy at a different rate.
  • Size 1 and 2 diapers. Wipes. Bumbo chair. High chair. One of those bouncy chairs. Swing. Crib sheets. All those for sure. You have to put clothes on ther or people will buy them anyway. Who can resist tiny cute baby clothes. Remember to leave the tags on EVERYTHING until after you use it. Then you can exchange for…
  • Yes. This is me, too. I have gained about 4 pounds and am 18 weeks. I was at the gym last week and someone who I was doing body combat with prepregnancy was complimenting me on my weiht loss. Then I turned around and they saw my belly. So it is good to know the weight is going to the right places and not to my butt.
  • We have no idea for names. The names I like, he doesn't. I think that once we find out the sex we will make more of an effprt. This is our third kid, so I am not too worried about it. My husband was able to feel the baby move for the first time last night! Very exciting moment...
  • Wow. That is very in depth. Honestly, if this is a huge concern for you, I would go to a nutritionist. Any advice you get here is unlikely to be catered to your specific needs. Eta: I would stop reading the pergnancy books. But that is just me. There is enough to stress out about.
  • I am about on par with my first two in regards to weight gain. I only gained about 20 lbs. The difference this time is that it has been 5 years since my last one and I am very aware of how hard it will be to lose the weight this time around. I started out 10 pounds heavier than I needed to be and am now trying hard to be…

  • Yes. With my first one this happened. He is 7 now. At my last dr appt a couple of weeks ago, the nurse had a hell of a time finding a heartbeat. I was 14 weeks.
  • I know how you feel. I became pregnant after losing 17 pounds. I am now 17 weeks and trying hard not to be sad about the weight gain. Talk to your ob/gyn. You can come up with a plan for healthy weight gain.
  • Try a really thick conditioner that smells yummy. Pantene, maybe?

  • As far as I know, it is normal. Your baby is making room and your uterus is expanding. I would worry if it is sharp shooting pain or persistant aches that don't resolve after a few hours.
  • I worked full time at a used bookstore with my previous pregnancies. I fell, was rammed in the belly with carts, lifted heavy *kitten* boxesand other assorted things. Nothing happened. While your friend is correct in that the doctor would likely not do anything for you, you are most likely fine. Your body is a really great…
  • Something like gingersnaps? There are ginger candies you can buy at the natural/hippy type stores.
  • I, too, would look for another doctor. Ice cream? Weird. I have been told to add a cup of yogurt, but never something unhealthy.
  • The only other thing that helped me was cold clementine oranges.
  • Congrats, Jillsie!
  • When someone tells me that she likes to think of birth as "juicy", I immediately shut down. I thought my husbands eyes were going to roll into the back of his head.
  • I am pregnant with my third. After finding out (oops), the first thing I did was cry. I just lost 17 pounds. I am now 16 weeks and am working out every day and tracking all I eat. I feel pretty good that I will be able to lose any weight gained after this one. I know how much effort it takes and am willing to do the work.
