As a Canadian living in China, I can say that you are 100% correct. I get to see first hand people living in poverty that have very limited food choices.

Who says anything is stopping me? 1. I wanted to live in another country, so I moved to China. 2. I wanted to learn another language, so I am learning Mandarin. 3. I wanted to kayak, so I learned. 4. I wanted to travel to travel the world, In the last year I have been to Hong Kong, China, Macau, and Thailand. In the next…

When you are hungry are you interested in eating some grilled lean meat and steamed vegetables? If this doesn't appeal to you, you probably are not physically hungry. For example sometimes when I'm tired I will want to eat sugary foods. I think I'm hungry, but really I'm just exhausted.

Pay off my student loans Reach my goal weight Hike the west coast trail Buy a condo Continue traveling to new places

I started at 235, and I'm now hovering around 190. I also have the ultimate goal of reaching 150. I've already been at it for a couple of years, and it will probably take me at least another year to lose the rest. I want to lose the weight for life, and I'm going at it slow and steady. I also have times where I will stop…

Thanks for the suggestions. I really do need to start skyping more often, including early morning wake up calls. Unfortunately I don't have access to counselling here. I looked into remote counselling, but it's over $100 an hour for phone or skype sessions, which I just can't afford. I already do a bit of meditation, and I…

Well, I can't really buy lottery tickets right now since I live in China, but in this lovely what if scenario.... The first thing I would do is buy a first class ticket back to Canada. Next I would pay off my student loans, and buy a condo in North Vancouver. Then I would start travelling again, and I would buy myself two…

To move with ease. I'm aware that the less excess body fat I am carrying around the easier it is for me to move. Easier to walk up stairs, kayak, hike, swim and run.

Jump in front of the camera! I really don't like having my picture taken. I am beginning to become more comfortable with it, but I'm not there yet. I want to celebrate reaching my goal weight by having my picture taken. I want to have all of my adventures captured on camera, my daily life in China, my upcoming summer visit…

It's hard to say how weight loss will affect your boobs. I lost about 50lbs when I was twenty, and I lost a chunk of what little boobs I had. Then I gained all the weight back and more, but I didn't gain any weight back in my boobs (only back fat). For years I was wearing a 38A bra with a back extender. Now that I have…

Hello, I have struggled with emotional eating since I was a child. Food was my primary coping mechanism growing up. I still struggle with food regularly, but I have managed to a couple of other coping mechanisms that work for me. Boredom: I need to keep my hands busy. For the other range of emotions: yoga, walking, taking…

Okay you need to burn 500 calories more than you eat each day to lose 1 pound a week, but your body burns calories constantly, even while you sleep. Do a little bit of BMR and TDEE research. Here is a link of mfp with some info to start:…

Hello, Please review your food diary for the past few months. Be kind to yourself, but please be open to the possibility that there may be a link between stress in your life, the food you eat and your medical condition. Like other posters have advised try to eat as many unprocessed whole foods as possible. I'm no where…

Anxiety, stress, and loneliness are the main reasons I overeat. I don't do to bad most of the time at large social gatherings. I overeat more often when I am alone. I'm getting better at identifying why I am eating if hunger is not the reason. That said I still have occurrences of binge eating. I'm trying to widen my range…

Ah, the joys of living abroad. I feel your pain, I live in China, and sometimes people do take my picture without asking. I'm glad you were able to report it to an appropriate person.

Hello, I probably won't start whole 30 until next week, because I am currently travelling in Thailand. I am trying to start to shift towards more whole foods though. I am 31 years old, single, and I teach kindergarten in China. Honestly a lot of foods that may be available to a lot of you won't be accessible to me. I'm…

I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this. I couldn't imagine a family member doing this to a loved one who lives with type 1 diabetes. Maybe you could write down a list of all the reasons you want to be healthy such as: energy, looking good, taking less insulin, your future etc. Then whenever you get a package from your…

I totally hear you, this is my first year living abroad. I live in China, and I feel like the party started around mid-December, Christmas parties, New Year's parties, and the lead up to the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year). I began my holiday's on January 18 eating my way through Hong Kong with friends followed by…

Hi, I also plan on doing the whole 30, but I am starting February 8. It will be a huge struggle for me. I am still on vacation in Thailand, and then I fly back to China February 13, and back to work on February 16. Lately I have felt terrible from the food that I have been eating, so I'm hoping the whole 30 can help me.

I have also done the: http://www.shrinkyourself.com online course, and about a year after completing it the first time I did it again. My life was even more out of control at that point and I only made it part way through the course, but I think it was really helpful. I really should have printed out my responses from the…

Hi, I am 31 years old, 5,7' almost 5,8' and I am currently weighing in at 189lbs. I have been overweight most of my life with the exception of my early twenties when I lost about 50lbs. I started university at 24 and gained 40lbs within a year, followed by me completely giving up and gaining some more weight slowly. My…

I'm a pear shaped person, and I have seen the biggest loss inch wise so far has come from my hips and thighs. I walk, climb stairs, run, squat, lunge, do planks and push ups. Basically I do what I can without a gym.

Count me in! I've had a couple of binges, so far in October, and I would love to make November a binge free month. At the end of September I moved from Canada to China, and started a new teaching job. I don't want to slip into old habits of binging on sweets and chips at night after a long day at work.

Hello Everyone, My mom was a binge eater, but she also went through successful diet/ purge stages. I remember binging myself by the time I was 8. I went on weight watchers for the first time at 11. My dad was very emotionally abusive when I was a child, and I was encouraged not to show outward emotions as a child. I…

You can add me, I'm just barely 5,8'

People are funny when they decide to pass judgement about people's size/ weight. Talk to your primary care physican and look at other markers than BMI, waist measurement, hip to waist ratio, and as the previous poster stated body fat %.

For rewards think of your interests and what you want to indulge in a budget friendly way. A new book, sports bra, a night at the movies, another way to reward yourself is to put money in a jar when you lose a few pounds to save up for a bigger reward. The big reward can be given to yourself at set intervals like ten…

I want a huge reward for myself when I reach my goal weight. I'm hoping to go on an Alaskan cruise with my mom. In the meantime I want to enjoy everything that keeps on getting easier with every pound lost: kayaking, hiking, running, etc.
