Sounds fun. :ohwell: I'll be honest, I don't see the point of restricting any of those things unless you have a genuine medical reason to do so, or in the case of alcohol, if you are an alcoholic or have issues controlling intake. Those things are all part of my diet, and I've not only managed to lose weight, but am very…

Quinoa, beans, lentils, spinach etc are higher in carbs than protein. OP - I don't eat low carb but I often eat scrambled eggs - a combination of whole eggs and egg whites, which is high protein/low carb.

So people whose appetites disappear because they're not eating enough - they should just continue not eating enough? Because people regularly post here saying they can't manage to get anywhere near their calorie goal because they're not hungry. Similarly, people who are overeating often still feel ravenous. Hunger is not…

This is the problem with the dieting mentality. If you've made the decision to lose weight, and are committed, how can it be ruined by one meal or one day? Even if you gain a couple of pounds you just keep going tomorrow. If it's truly a lifestyle change, it doesn't end because you eat more than you plan to one day. As far…

Well, I log supplements because I like to track micronutrients as well, and because sometimes I forget to take them. My fish oil has 9 calories per capsule which I don't think is a big deal. I'd definitely be logging something worth 80 calories though.

If it's one day, it's no big deal. You might feel hungrier on another day and want to eat 500 over your goal. It's fine to look at your weekly intake rather than trying to get the same every day. If it's happening on a regular basis though, you might want to: -plan better so that you get your calories in through the day…

It will certainly wear you out if you're not giving your body enough food, and if you're only netting 700-800 calories a day, then you're not giving your body enough food. Eat more, and try to look into other forms of exercise that you would enjoy more. Some people just hate the gym. I don't mind it, but cannot stand…

Yeah, I think you just have to learn to do it anyway, even if you don't feel motivated. I certainly don't feel motivated to exercise a lot of the time, but I do because it's important to me. Just like, I don't always feel motivated to go to work, but I go anyway because I don't want the consequences of not going. I don't…

Where did you order them from? Doesn't it worry you that there are no instructions? I would also vote for not taking them at all, but if you're set on it, at least get them from somewhere reputable.

I agree, 7 lbs in a month is plenty. Given your stats, 1 lb a week is a reasonable expectation, and that would be more like 0.5 lbs a week pretty soon. Fat doesn't just drop off you at the same rate it does someone who is obese. With the amount you have to lose, if you were losing 3 lbs a week, it would not be all fat, it…

Firstly, I mean this in the kindest possible way, but it sounds like you would benefit from professional help. Binge Eating Disorder, anorexia and bulimia are very complicated things and not the kinds of things that you can just shake off with tips & suggestions. I'm of course not saying that you have these eating…

I agree with what others have said. You're not overweight, so weight loss should be slow. (bear in mind that if you lose too fast you risk losing lean mass, which is not what you want if you're looking for more muscle definition.) ETA: also, if you truly spend most of your spare time working out, as well as being active in…

There's a group forum dedicated to IF: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/66-intermittent-fasting It's not a magic bullet, but I've found it to help me to adhere to my calorie goal.

Because the calorie goal MFP gives you doesn't include that kind of exercise, so if you're following the MFP method, you need to have an idea of how much you're burning through exercise so that you can eat back those calories and get back to the original recommended calorie deficit. A lot of people use the TDEE method…

Oh yes - I'd definitely agree with this too. I struggled with depression and self-loathing for a long time, all through my teens and adult life, and I never had any success at losing weight. It was only when I started to change how I feel about myself (still get depressed, but no longer hate/dislike myself or my body) that…

Habit changing can be hard, especially when you're trying to change everything at once. It's absolutely possible to lose weight and get fit & healthy with a busy work schedule, but it definitely makes it harder when you're new to it all. I would advise keeping it simple and concentrating on one thing at once. Start with…

I have thought a lot about the psychological reasons behind some of my eating habits, and I have found it interesting and helpful. I try not to get to hung up on it though. I've noticed that I hate eating lots of little meals through the day, never really feeling hungry or too full. I like to eat more in the evenings, I…

HRMs aren't designed to measure calories during strength training, so shouldn't really be considered accurate for that. They're best for measuring calorie burns during steady state cardio. OP - strength training certainly burns calories, but it's difficult to estimate exactly how many. As ladyace0007 said, you can get a…

Protein shakes aren't meant to be meal replacements as they generally only provide protein. It depends what nutrients you're getting from the rest of your intake. Try to make sure you're getting enough of everything else too. From what you've said (and without knowing what your "normal sized meal" is comprised of), it…

Also this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1161603-so-you-want-a-nice-stomach I also tend to store fat in my abdomen, so I can relate to your frustration.

You don't need a certain kind for women. I would only buy protein powder if you are struggling to meet your protein goal through normal food. Nothing wrong with supplementing, but there's no benefit to getting it from powder over getting it from food. I can't give a specific recommendation based on price, but look for ones…

That's pretty much what I'd do. Enjoy the croissant every now and then if you want to and you can fit it into your day, but it's perfectly reasonable not to have to eat it. Being honest with your boss and making sure he knows you really do appreciate the gesture would be better than just leaving it lying around or throwing…

I think a lot of people fail to have long term success with weight loss because they refuse to let go of black/white thinking and see life in extremes. They're either "on a diet" or have "fallen off the wagon". They're being "good" or "naughty". They're either eating too much and can't be bothered to exercise or they get a…

It's absolutely possible. I was overweight from probably pre-teen age, obese from mid/late teens and never lost any significant amount of weight until my early thirties. And when I did, I lost it all and it has stayed that way. I never thought it possible, but using calorie counting as a tool, getting regular exercise,…

If you're counting calories, you might as well count them from all sources. As far as I understand it, the calorie equivalent of the weight watchers point goal is lower than what you'd get on MFP, to account for the "free" fruit and vegetables.
-
Didn't know that's what I did. Thanks for letting me know. :flowerforyou:
-
You do know that the calorie goal MFP gives you has a built in deficit right? That you don't have to create your own deficit from that? And that the goal does not include workouts, so you're supposed to log workouts and eat (at least a portion of) those calories back? Have you read these?…

Yes, absolutely, lots of "skinny" people binge, and lots of them have other forms of disordered eating.
-
Foods aren't "bad". This mentality is feeding your binge eating. Weight loss/gain is about energy balance. It doesn't sound stupid, and it's very common to think how you're thinking, but it's not healthy, and you're really going to struggle to stop binging if you keep thinking about food in that way.
-
Stop looking at life in such extremes. Stop doing really restrictive diets - either too low in calories or cutting out certain foods. Stop beating yourself up when you do binge. Forgive yourself and move on. Dieting is a major cause of binge eating. Your ticker says you have only 15 lbs to lose, so you should be on a very…
