I don't think that's why it happens. I think it's a reaction to restriction (ie restricting yourself to x number of calories, even when you're not actually at a deficit.) I started reading about restraint theory and the boundary model recently. I don't understand it fully enough to regurgitate it here, but you (OP) might…

I'm 5'3" and my highest weight was 218 lbs. No one noticed, or at least no one commented, until I'd lost about 30 lbs. But then, once they started noticing, everyone noticed, and I kept getting comments until after I'd stopped losing. Dont worry about it. It'll happen. In the meantime, remember the really important reasons…

No, it's not the only way to increase protein. Check out these sources: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/926789-protein-sources As for protein shakes, I'd say it depends what you mean by "unnatural" and what exactly your concerns are.

I don't understand the question... are you worrying that you're getting too much protein? Or not enough?

I'll be honest - I haven't learned to completely avoid emotional eating. Changing the habits of a lifetime is hard, especially when there are mental health issues underlying them. I think one of the most important things I did though that has helped me lose the weight and keep it off for (so far) 18 months is to let go of…

How much/what kind of exercise are you doing? Are you eating exercise calories back? If so, how are you calculating exercise calorie burn? Are you weighing and measuring all your food and drink accurately? Digital food scale? When you say you're eating what MFP tells you, do you really mean that you're leaving a few…

Losing weight is not about not eating bread. (or even cookies) :flowerforyou: OP - I tend to agree that 1200 ish calories a day is too low for most people. Far better to make it a sustainable lifestyle that you're going to stick to long-term than to take drastic measures because you're desperate to get the weight off right…

Make sure you're getting enough fat too.

For some people it is, for some it isn't. For some, seeing the weight loss process as a temporary thing that gets you to goal weight whereupon you go back to "normal" means that maintenance will of course be very difficult. Also, if you cut out all the foods you love and do excessive amounts of exercise you don't really…

Regular exercise made my veins more pronounced, long before I approached any kind of leanness. :ohwell: And not having as much fat to prop it up made my skin more saggy and elastic despite plenty hydration. :drinker: But, yeah... fat levels definitely make a difference to how much older you look especially the older…

Cup of coffee will probably do the same thing for you.

I avoid them like the plague... because I think they're disgusting. You're a fan of them however, so go for it. I sometimes have a particular crispbread that are low calorie (because similarly, they have a lot of air in them!) I have them with nut butter, or pate on as a bit of a snack. Eat what you enjoy and what helps…

Honestly, it is crazy. And unrealistic. And unhealthy. And I would be saying that to someone without a history of eating disorders. For someone who has been anorexic and is binge eating... it is even more crazy. Sorry if that sounds brutal, but it sounds like you want honest advice. Attempting this is going to make your…

There's not a huge amount you can do to prevent it, and not a huge amount of solid evidence for any prevention techniques. Anecdotally, you'll hear to try to lose it slowly, to keep hydrated, to eat a balanced, nutritious diet (including all your microvitamins, plenty of protein, plenty of fat...), to keep it moisturised…

I look older. I've always looked younger than I am, and still do, but I think I look closer to my age now. Definitely not so much of a baby face having lost a lot of fat in my cheeks. Fine lines also showing a lot more (but that could be coincidence and they were going to show up now anyway!)

Yeah, confused... are you using the MFP method (eating back exercise calories) or the TDEE method? 1800 for your TDEE if you're lifting weights and/or doing cardio seems a little low.

Jealous! I love strawberries, just as they are. Definitely jam some, homemade jam is lovely. Last year, I made some strawberry and mint curd (googled a recipe) that was not difficult, and tasted amazing. Ooh, did not know this trick, thanks!

There are the odd occasions that I don't track - Christmas Day for example, or when I'm away on holiday, or just can't track for some reason. Special occasions. The thing is though, summer isn't an occasion, it lasts for months. It's part of life. In fact, a quarter of your life happens in summer. There are lots of times…

Totally depends on how much you have to lose. When I first started (with a bmi of 38ish) I had to lose about 30lbs until anyone noticed (and I'm 5'3). Now, 5 lbs is very noticeable.

Are you tracking your food intake? Your current exercise programme might be working great for you, but fat loss is going to come from having a calorie deficit, so you need to be keeping an eye on your energy intake. Exercise is more for fitness, and health, and retaining muscle mass while you lose weight.

First off, it's only been a couple of weeks, so (especially at the weight you're at) it's too soon to say weight loss has stopped. Weight loss slows down the closer you are to a healthy weight, and the less fat you have on your body. That's normal, healthy and to be expected. You should not expect to be able to lose 2 lbs…

Eating when you're bored in the evening is just a habit you've developed, and habits can be hard to break. The best way to do it is to create a new habit in its place. At the moment, the feeling of boredom, and the time of day, triggers a psychological urge to eat. You eat, and feel better in some way, which rewards the…

Yep, looks pretty normal to me.

I use both. Measurements take longer to change (and haven't changed much in maintenance anyway) so the scale is more useful to me on a day to day basis. I've been weighing daily (more or less) for a long time, so I understand water weight fluctuations and there's no reason for them to upset me or make me anxious.

Are you wanting alternative carb-based recipes, eg. using rice or potatoes or quinoa? Or are you looking to reduce carbs and have more meat/veg based recipes? Or are you looking for recipes that incorporate a fake pasta substitute? Or are you just looking for any and all recipes that don't contain pasta?

I think it's a good thing. Look at it this way - knowledge is power. I hate when supermarkets don't publish the nutritional info of their bakery items. It makes me not want to buy them (which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending how you look at it...) With the info though, you can make an informed choice and if…

Love it.

That deprivation mentality is actually pretty common in people who are dieting or restricting their intake in any way.
-
White bread, rice and potatoes aren't simple carbs.

And whose usernames reference said fad diet. :ohwell:
