  • I think that the bigger issue than discriminating based purely on size is that it is one sided. The guys don't have to be a certain size, just the women. Misogyny strikes again!
  • Ok, I have one word for you: Boundaries. What I eat is no one's business but my own and if I need some help, then I will ask for it. The fact that I, or anyone else, is on here at all logging their food is impressive and deserves encouragement. As far as accountability goes, we should all be accountable to ourselves. Not…
  • Wow, 19 years is impressive! Congrats to him! And yes, moms are pretty awesome! :)

  • Well swimming sounds like a great idea. I'd love to do some water aerobics myself, but we don't have a swimming pool in the area. I'd say that going slow and steady is a good thing with exercise regardless, but especially with a new heart. Good luck!

  • Congrats on the transplant! I had a kidney transplant on June 24, 2003 (from my mom), so we're coming up on 9 years soon and everything has been awesome. I thankfully never had to be on steroids. I got fat all on my own ;) It's a tough journey to get healthy but well worth it. Not to mention that staying healthy helps keep…

  • Awesome! :)
  • Such a great movie!! Me and my sister took our mom to see it for Mother's Day. Best choice ever!!
  • [quote Fave line: When Stark called Clint Legolas....only one other person laughed in the theater with me... :) [/quote] Yeah, me and my sister were the only ones who laughed too.
  • agreed!
  • I kept it a secret until I really got into the swing of things and started seeing some real results. I didn't want people to know because, like you, I am trying to get healthy. The weight loss is just an awesome side effect of that goal. I didn't want people only looking at the weight loss part of it. Plus, every time I…
  • My diary is closed because, quite frankly, it's no one's business what I eat in a day. I don't need comments, positive or negative, about the specific foods that I eat. And if I choose to eat McDonald's or any other unhealthy food, it's my issue to deal with, not anyone else's. And for me personally, I'm good about staying…
  • Amazing!! You look incredible and you're healthy to boot! Very inspiring!
  • Welcome to my life! I always go through these periods of being really good about what I eat and getting in some exercise and then I get to a point of just wanting to be able to eat whatever I want (which is always unhealthy) and I lose all motivation to exercise. That's usually when I'll start gaining weight again/back.…
  • Hands down, my favorite workout DVD is Leslie Sansone: Walk at Home - 5 Day Slim Down - A Mile Each Morning. It's so easy because it's just walking, but it actually gets me up off my butt and exercising. You can choose between 5 miles that focus on different body parts and they each take about 12-14 minutes (not including…
  • when you find out, let me know. I'm always trying to find a good sports bra in a 38DDD. tough thing to do.
  • I love walking!! It's the only exercise that I do and I've lost 21 pounds so far. The best part about it is that it is so easy. You don't need equipment or machines. I can do it anywhere and at anytime. I usually walk a mile three times a week and I can already tell that I have more energy and endurance. I even walked a 12…
  • I was on my way to becoming a scale addict. Now, I keep it hidden until Mondays, when I weigh myself. Out of sight, out of mind.
  • I love what you said to her!! I don't know if I would have been so restrained.
  • I'm in the beginning stages of having this problem too. A lot of my pants and skirts are starting to get loose. I figure that the best thing to do when nothing fits anymore is to buy some really cheap replacements. I was thinking of going to Goodwill or Target. Then, when I'm down to my goal weight/size, I'll do the huge…
  • Well your 2009/10 sounds as bad as mine. I lost my father to a pulmonary embolism in Dec 2009 (he was 58), lost my paternal grandmother in Feb 2010 and my maternal grandmother this past year (2011) after a long battle with Alzheimer's. So I can relate to having sucky stuff happening. Not fun! Now on to the advice. If you…
  • I know the feeling of being the fat friend in a group of skinny friends. That's always my role. And I've also been like your friends at times. I've made fun of my cousin for eating really healthy, even on vacation. But when I look back at it, I did it because I was jealous and insecure. I was jealous that she had the…
  • Don't look at all the reasons that you need to lose weight. I have a million reasons to lose weight, but that isn't what keeps me motivated. I know that I am trying to get healthy. That is the goal. Weight loss will come with that. Not to mention that I go through periods where I have no motivation to eat healthy and…
  • Been there. I am the worst when it comes to eating junk food, especially fast food. If it is in the house, I will eat it. Willpower always disappears. So I had to make sure that it wasn't in the house. I don't buy it for myself and I had to tell my mom to only buy what she wanted for herself; she isn't allowed to bring me…
  • One word: Boundaries. I had to do that with my mom. She was bringing home fast food for the two of us and I couldn't resist eating it. So I sat her down one day and told her that she is free to eat whatever she wants, but that I don't want her to bring home anything for me. If it's not there, then I can't eat it. It's been…
  • Well, first off, I have to say that I've been there. My sister is thin and most of my friends are too. It kind of sucks sometimes because it can put you in that place of comparing yourself to them. But you are not them. They have their issues and you have yours. The important thing is that you make the effort, which you…
  • First of all, your body fluctuates all the time. You can seem to gain or lose a pound at almost any time for a variety of reasons, like fluid retension or the amount of poop in your system. So going by only a week's worth of data isn't an accurate picture of what is happening with your body. Give it time. I didn't see any…
  • Welcome to my life! I always do really well for awhile, fall of the bandwagon, binge, get upset for doing it, binge some more, and gain back all the weight plus some. This time around, I'm thinking about things differently. I am going to have days where I binge, like my birthday this past week, but I make sure that it is…
