oh man i LOVE seld pod shuboj, that's in my top three favorite Russian salads. Other two are Olivier salad and vinigret. Next time beets go on sale I'm making a big ol' bowl of vinigret. Maybe I'll try my hand at seld pod shuboj, who knows.

Stay hydrated, don't smoke, and keep your skin moisturized. I don't know what nutrients contribute to skin health but that's what Google is for. Honestly, though, stretch marks aren't that big a deal. I have plenty of them and I'm the only one who has ever cared. Nobody but me is familiar enough with my body, and…

I prefer to set modest goals and be pleasantly surprised when I meet and surpass them. My SO prefers to set lofty goals, and he tends to give himself a hard time when he doesn't live up to his own expectations, being a bit of a perfectionist.

Barbecue pulled chicken sandwiches. My SO's family donated a tiny crock pot to us when we moved into our apartment and I'm finally getting to use it. I have a couple of bone-in chicken thighs in there with about a half-cup of honey bbq sauce and a little less than half a cup of Coke. Shredding the meat when they're done…

I'm 22. I'm really hoping that a combination of living in the city, having an active job, and having to feed two adults and a cat on $200/month will help both me and my SO slim down over the course of the next year. I've been fat all my life; he gained the weight in college, as so many of us have. I've got about 45-50 more…

Do you have time to go for a brisk walk before your BBQ tonight and earn a few extra calories? Walking for 30 minutes will burn about 150 calories.

The "My Foods" tab is for foods you add to the database yourself; if you can't find what you're looking for in the database, there should be an option to Add a New Food, and once you input the nutrition information for that food, it'll show up under My Foods. This is handy for restaurant foods.

It sounds like you may indeed be having a reaction to the artificial sweeteners in the "sugar free" things you've been eating and drinking. Does the same thing happen when you consume the regular versions of these things, or is it just with the sugar free stuff? Honestly, you're probably better off just eating and drinking…

Yay! Thanks, lol.

Do you own a blender? You could make smoothies. Try www.supercook.com - tell it what ingredients you have and search "smoothie" in the text box, it'll tell you what you can make with what you have.

I would say get what you like, just eat less of it. Take home half your meal in a box, if it's not a buffet; otherwise, just use the small bowls, not the plates. Get water to drink and drink plenty of it, to offset the sodium a bit. Enjoy the time with your family. Work out a little extra earlier in the day, if you're…

My SO and I bought ourselves some cheap flip-flops specifically to wear inside the apartment, because the floor is tile. Bare feet on tile get inexplicably nasty *really* quickly. Also, we have a cat. It's a 350sqft studio apartment, so no matter where the litterbox is, there's gonna be litter tracked basically everywhere.…

My solution to this quandary is to not have a dishwasher. :D

If it's not a local mom-and-pop place, you should be able to look up nutrition information online in advance. That's what I do. If there really is no good option, then immediately box up half of your entree when you get it and take it home. For fast food, there really are no good options; grilled chicken is usually a…

where to find that thing i was looking for the woman is f***ing magic i swear to god

Probably alcohol, and spending all my time around guys who are bigger (and therefore can eat more) than I. I don't want to just give up and embrace my role as The Chick and start eating and drinking nothing but salads and water, because pizza and beer is delicious.

Take care of your skin. Moisturizing and using sunscreen or UV protective clothing when you go outside, and staying hydrated, will help the marks to fade some. You might also try using Mederma or a similar product intended to reduce the appearance of scars. Ultimately, though, it's best to make peace with what you have.…

That article says nothing about acid whey killing children.

If you lose slowly, hydrate like a beast, take care of your skin (moisturize, use sunscreen/UV blocking clothing whenever you go outside) and do some strength training, you'll combat the loose skin problem and the stretch marks that you likely have. There may still be a little bit of loose skin at the end, wherever you…

My grandma works at a hospital, although she just works at the coffee stand and is not actually a medical practitioner of any kind, but even hospitality staff like her have been affected by the smoking bans and such. At least some hospitals are now starting to go after obesity, using office-wide Biggest Loser-type…

I don't even bother with the snack bag. I just layer a cheap sports bra from Walmart over my good sports bra and use that as a pocket. Phone, keys, ID. Makes my chest look weirdly lumpy, especially with the keys because they're so awkwardly shaped, but I'm not out to impress anybody so who cares.

I just graduated, lol :) but I'm also trying to stay motivated for the summer, amidst trying to find a place to live before I relocate for a job in about a month. For a diabetic, my dad keeps an awful lot of goddam carbs in his house. I really need to get back to using exercise as a stress-buster. Christmas really knocked…

Get rid of your scale. What do you even need it for? You're an adult, you don't have to let a stupid little machine dictate how you feel about anything. Throw that SOB to the curb and commit to getting healthy, regardless of what number may come up next time you stand on a scale. If getting rid of it completely is not an…

I've never smoked, but my parents have both smoked for decades. My dad quit in March and is still going strong, and I'm so proud of him. He's made a real commitment to getting healthy since my mom divorced him; he dropped a hundred pounds in about 18 months, and has his type II diabetes more or less under control; he takes…

Body type only matters when it comes to clothing, really. Go by what you are now.

QFT. The best way I've heard homophobia summed up is "the fear that another man will treat you the way you treat women."

Slow down! It sounds like you might be doing some kind of C25K type interval training program. Don't feel like you need to run as fast as you possibly can right away. C25K focuses on endurance - once you can run, at any speed, for 30 minutes at a stretch, *then* you can work on running faster. This advice might sound…

I, too, love hairy men. So manly~ Call me old fashioned, whatever, I just don't think a man should shave more of his body than his girlfriend does. (Then again, my SO and I are a couple of foul bachelor/ette frogs, so make of that what you will.)

My mom is 4'11. My grandma (claims to have been) 5'10 before she started shrinking in her old age, and now she's about 5'4, maybe 5'5; my grandpa is still about 6'. Then again, my mom is adopted. I'm 5'2, 5'3 on a really good day. My dad will tell you he was also once 5'10 but that's bull****, he's never been more than 5'6…
