Like Mike, I'm also 9 months in. I'm still losing but most of the 40 pounds I lost was done in the first few months. I've fallen off the wagon a few times but return to Paleo every time. I, too, am afraid to let go of my size 14s in exchange for my new size 10s. Despite comments from many people how I need to go shopping,…

I was Primal for a very long time. I struggled with Whole30 twice because of my dairy consumption. However, I'm now on my 3rd Whole30 journey and am doing just fine without dairy. I do miss the occasional cheese and/or yogurt but there are other things I'm more interested in. I've found that without dairy, my allergies are…

I typically will take in between 60-80% fat in a day. It seems that on days I take in more fat, I lose easier. But maybe that's just me. Don't be afraid of it and just experiment with your diet to see what fits best. To start, try 60% of total calorie intake from fat. I believe the generic Paleo formula is 60/20/20…

I posted directly on your feed but here it is along with the other great answers. Howl, I like the idea of cocoa powder with my bulletproof coffee...like a mocha. Gonna have to try that one. Avocado and avocado oil Olive Oil Paleo mayo - http://www.theclothesmakethegirl.com/2012/08/19/mayo-how-to-video/ Paleo Pesto - just…

Today is my official halfway mark. I am doing surprisingly well, although I am having some joint pain in my fingers and my skin hasn't cleared, but those symptoms might have more to do with changing thyroid meds. Without the dairy, I have a lot more energy and am getting plenty of fats. I started out at 160 lbs and have…

Just keep eating this way and don't be afraid to experiment with caloric intake. I was so freaked out in the beginning about my macronutrients and the fat intake, but then I did a trial week where I ate to hunger and I wasn't losing but I wasn't gaining either. However I was also training and was sore, so water retention…

I eat between 60-70% fat, 20-25% protein (depending on my fitness level at different times) and 10-15% carbs (but never over 100 grams a day while I try to shed some more weight. I lose weight the easiest when I eat the most fat. I ate 245 grams of fat today putting me at nearly 80% fat but whatevs, it works for me.

An apple and some almond butter is my go-to. The almond butter is always a little sweet to me. The sweetness of the apple and almond butter, combined with the heaviness of protein and fat, see me through cravings when it's that TOTM. I know that's not your question regarding that TOTM. I crave fruit during PMS time. I read…

How about Paleo meatloaf? http://paleodietlifestyle.com/paleo-meat-loaf/

I was reading about this just the other day. I'm going to have to research this some more because I tend to want to drink coffee before I head out the door, which is less than an hour after I've taken my meds. Thanks for the info.

I currently eat Paleo/Primal. I eat meat, eggs, lots of good fats, vegetables by the tons, some fruit, nuts and seeds. Typically my carbs come from vegetables only but occasionally I'll eat some potatoes. I don't eat beans, any grains including sprouted ones, hydrogenated oils, dairy (currently don't eat it for the next…

Paleo/Primal gal here. Been doing this lifestyle since January of this year and have lost almost 40 lbs so far. It's easy to drop the weight and there are so many things I've learned about diet, lifestyle and my health since then. I have recently switched my meds to Armour (1 grain) and have been taking it for only about a…

I eat between 1500-2200 calories a day depending on hunger, with between 60-70+% fat. My BMR is 1560 as a female who's 5'10", age 33. I stopped eating 1500 calories as I got closer to my goal of being in the healthy BMI. I currently weight 157 lbs down from 193 and am still losing with this calorie intake so long as I keep…

Feel free to add me. Paleo/Primal for 9 months now.

I saw some coconut butter the other day at Sunflower. I thought about buying it but it seems dangerous because, like SweetX, I might consume it all in one sitting. I tried some of the Justin's Cashew Butter, and omg, it was heavenly.

I use the Nutiva organic. It can be found at Sunflower Markets and also at Costco.

I use MCT and ghee right now for my recipe while I'm doing Whole30. I've got to let you know that you should heed the warnings on starting slow on MCT (directions on the bottle says so) because the first few times, it gave me an upset stomach. I also like to throw in some coconut milk and some cinnamon to give it an even…

Gonna talk to my hubby tonight! It's either the Paleo seminar or seeing Florence & the Machine in October. I want to meet Melicious in person :)

My salads are typically between 800-900+ calories a day too. I typically eat to hunger which sometimes can be around 2200 calories a day. I expend usually around 2300-2800 (BodyBugg proof) for a day depending on if I work out or not. Even with eating that much, I typically don't gain while eating Paleo. Most of those extra…

Jindra, That's your reply to everything! Haha you're so funny! I like coffee but too much coffee can do a number on your adrenals. I try to drink no more than 3 cups in the morning, but even that is excessive now that I see it written here. I wonder what Sisson has to say about coffee consumption and limitations.

I second this. More carbs are not always a bad thing when it comes to energy. Do you work out regularly? If so, you need to be on the higher end of the carb spectrum. For those who have thyroid issues, like myself, I need to eat even more carbs than most people. I stick to under 100 a day, but try to get over 60 grams…

I can sometimes drink it black but on days with BP coffee, I put in grass fed butter, MCT oil and coconut milk. It's deliciously creamy and goes down smooth, almost too smooth. Both the MCT and the coconut milk are thermogenics, so it starts my day off right, kickstarting my metabolism. If you absolutely cannot do BP…

Sorry but egg beaters are not Paleo. It goes against the theories of Paleo in eating natural, whole foods in their normal, unprocessed state. Feta cheese isn't Paleo, but rather Primal with the addition of dairy, even from sheep. Instead, opt for farm fresh eggs in their natural form from chickens who are raised in…

By all means, snack on something if you feel the need to. It's not going to hurt you. I'd try some protein and fat because your mind is telling your body to eat carbs to fuel itself. Stay strong and stick to berries (if you must do fruit) but a better choice would be beef jerky or a hard boiled egg.
-
I concur with the carb flu. I was tired, cranky, and had really bad headaches for about 10 days. It's just temporary until your body switches to using fat as its energy source.

Have you tried Armour instead of Synthroid? One of the reasons I have made the choice to switch from synthetic hormone to natural hormones is because Synthroid is a T4-only medication, and usually those affected by thyroid have a problem converting T4 to T3. T3 is what helps to regulate temperature and although Armour has…

A great choice would be to switch the whole family to Paleo/Primal. It's already gluten-free.

Primal since January and lost 33 lbs in the first three months, and an additional 6 in the months afterwards. I fell off the wagon the past few weeks but back on now, doing Whole30, day 2. I'm currently sitting at 159 lbs at 5'10" and have lost 1.2 lbs since yesterday when I weighed in.

I take Vitamin A and Zinc together to help my skin. I also take 5000 iu daily of Vitamin D because on my labs recently, I was found to be deficient.

Cut your carbs drastically, getting carbs from veggies and fruit (sparingly, like a serving of low-glycemic fruit once a day). Just my two cents on what has worked for me.
