  • Deetee6718 about sums it up just right! You also might consider joinging a gym. The machines will help you gain muscle strength and the more muscle you gain the more you will lose. Just one healthy choice at a time!!
  • There comes a point where we have to say "enough, I refuse to go any further". You can do this one day at a time and one healthy choice at a time.
  • Congratulations on a lot of hard work and stick- to- it-ness.
  • Last year I went from 147 to 167. I was working out 5 mornings a week but got lax on what foods I was eating. I have recently cut out all soft drinks including diet drinks and iced tea. I have removed breads and junk food from my diet. My arthritis (61 yrs old) has gotten worse again over the past year and in just the…
  • Congratulations on making the decision to do something about your health. 3 years ago I weighed over 200 lbs. and just decided that at each meal I was going to make the healthiest choice I could. I slowly started to lose weight and then started mfp after losing about 15 lbs. I lost over 60 lbs. This past year I gained back…
  • My initial moment was when I hit 200 pounds. I said enough and started making healthy choices and exercising. Then found mfp. Got to my goal weight (lost 65 lbs.) and then started losing control again this summer. I got to the top of the size I was in and I refuse to go up a size again. I am back on again and feeling…
  • I started out almost 2 years ago just deciding that each meal I was going to chose healthy food. I didn't even think of dieting, just make a healthy choice. The in January of last year I started MFP and religiously kept track of my food. I don't think of it as counting calories but rather keeping track of the food I ate. I…
  • glazed carrots left over from Easter and left over roast beef over a slice of unbuttered white bread. Bottle of diet snapple.
  • I get up at 545 and go to the gym. It frees up my evenings so I can spend time with my husband, cook a decent meal, and get some work done. I also feel better starting the day with exercise. when I get off work I am done!! In the summer I get outside in the evening and work on the yard a bit and that adds more exercise but…
  • I am like that with diet cokes. I just had to give them up completely. I tend to be that way also with sweets. When I start eating sweets agaain I get addicted to them and I have to go cold turkey and give them up completely for a while. it takes me a week or so and then the craving leaves. I feel better and don't have to…
  • I will start worrying when I consume as much cow's milk in one day as a calf does. I drink 8-10 ounces at the max a day. calories and nutrition is not so dense that that much will hurt me.
  • 18 months ago I just decided to make the healthiest choice available for each meal. I started to lose very slowly. then I started to add exercise a couple times a week. One year ago I joined MFP and upped my exercise to 7 days a week. Mostly cardio. From start to finish I have lost almost 60 pounds. The point I want to…
  • Measure your portions and post your calories before you take that second helping so you see what the extra food is going to do to your goal calorie count for the day.
  • I am finding it a bit hard to maintain. Easy to put weight back on. I gained 4 lbs over thanksgiving. I have lost 1 1/2 back off that. I use the elliptical 5 times a week for 40 minutes. Keep my calories around 1600. If I change that routine I start to gain again. I am 5 61/2 and weigh 148 with the gain from thanksgiving…
  • I am 59 so fit in. My goal for December is to at least maintain. I gained 4 lbs over thanksgiving week and have 3 1/2 back off. Not stressing though as I am below my 2nd weight loss goal and a very healthy weight. I am trying to find a balance between the right amount of calories in and exercise to maintain. 2nd goal is to…
  • I disagree. Weight loss is mental control. Nobody but you puts food into your mouth and nobody but you sits on the couch too lazy to get up and move a little. Biggest Loser has motivated me. If they lose for whatever reason they do it for, I can do it. I have lost over 55 pounds this past year and a half and keeping it off…
  • I cut out diet cokes when I got stuck. You didn't mention if you drank them but I think most dieters probably do. I also start measuring my food when I get stuck or gain a couple pounds. It is easy to fudge if you aren't holding yourself accountable by measuring.
  • Congratulations! You both look great!
  • You can do it! I started at 202 and weigh 146 right now. Took me a year but one year later I am where I want to be. Just make the right choices every day and before you know it you will have lost the weight you want also. I went from an 18 down to an 8-10.
  • Whatever the motivation for losing, a major benefit is still that you will be healthier.
