  • i read this and thought, "oh my, how is she going to be able to carry a sign for an entire marathon without her arms falling off?" and then i looked at your picture. i guess you'll be fine! :) have a great time -- it sounds like a lot of fun!
  • Manic -- i just finished stage 7. It is definitely more of a cardio stage. I think you will like it if you start with low enough weights so that you can get through the 4 sets of 15-20 reps. I was burning about 250 calories for a 30 - 35 minute work out. A couple days I just wanted to die after I finished, but a couple…
  • Did you find yourself going up in weight any? I have one more work out . . . . I have pretty much maintained during this stage, except for a few of the lifts I started VERY low on. Not sure what to do next, so I may do Stage 7 again. We'll see.
  • MissMaggie -- I am just behind you! Today did workout 2 and felt really good. I was able to stay with the 30 sec rest because I lowered my weights enough. Still felt great -- lots of sweating and didn't feel like a wimp at all! ;) Usually do some cardio after and felt good enough to do some some interval training, but…
  • oh my goodness! I didn't believe you all when you wrote about about how hard this stage is . . . Did workout 1 today and I couldn't/chose not to do 4 sets, only 3, and after the first set there was no way I could possibly only rest for 30 seconds. So disappointing! I skipped stage 6 because I am really feeling like at this…
  • THIS! I think you'll be surprised by how much your body really needs the rest/repair in between lifting. I'm just finishing Stage 5 now, and there have been lots of days where I planned to take only one day off between lifting and NEEDED two (sometimes three) days. I have continued to do cardio throughout . . . . on each…
  • Great Progress! I hope to get over 100 lb. on the Lat Pull Down. 40bls on the Partial Squats?!? That is great! I went up to 25 lbs. today and think I pulled a muscle in my right leg (glute). :( It has taken me all month to get through stage 5 and I still have two more workouts to go! I pulled a muscle in my back doing the…
  • Just started stage 5 last night. I am not a fan of the 4 reps! I don't feel like I'm lifting to failure for most of the moves at all, but I don't think I could go heavier based on the balance required for some of the moves, or the lifing over the head. Like the bench press -- I just can't seem to get beyond the 20 lb…
  • Last night I was back at the gum after 8 days of vacation/laziness. Finally started stage 5 and was hating the 3-4 sets of 4. I felt like I wasn't lifing heavy enough for only 4 reps, but at the same time, didn't think I could go any higher. Plus I usually don't go to the gym at night (I try to go during the day when no…
  • i'm just getting ready to start here tomorrow and it looks like everyone will be done! :(
  • Finally finished stage 4! It felt like it took forever! :) I really like reading about everyone's progress so I thought I would share mine too. I mostly did 3 sets for each workout. Deadlift -- start: 105 lbs. /end 125 lbs. Bulgarian Split Squat -- start 25 lb. plate/end 35 lb. plate Underhand grip lat pulldown -- start 80…
  • I had a great time at the Ninja Challenge too! Finished just about the same as your team. Not only did I get over all the walls (with a little help from my team) but I did the Shinobi Escape all by myself! :) The only one I couldn't complete was the monkey bar one, but I did try it. I figure by the time I get to stage 6…
  • i feel the same way! that rope across the pond and the wall?!? i know i'm in trouble! :) but it should be a lot of fun. and there's beer at the end . . . . ;)
  • that's the one! :) are you?? we're in the 10:30 wave . . . .
  • I love this tread! I lurk around here every day, and you ladies are all awesome and inspiring, even when you're having a pity party! KEEP LIFTING & FOLLOWING YOUR PLAN! YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL! :) I would love to lose 15 more pounds, and since I've been on NROL I've pretty much only been maintaining. But, I'm ok with that…
  • THIS! :) Just work the plan -- you WILL BE FINE!
  • i've been doing 20 lbs. db on the bench press -- i tried 25 lbs. and could only do 2, and had to drop back to 20 lbs. the BWM is a killer . . . . i feel like i'm "hopping" between lunges instead of jumping. i did keep my hands up behind my ears today and lowered my time, but wow! it's a struggle to finish!

  • I used a HRM last time I did hot yoga (60 minutes) and only burned about 350 calories. My average heart rate was less than 120, which I was shocked by since I felt like I was working ALOT harder than that!
  • That's awesome! Keep up the great work!
  • Just finished workout B 3 -- I'm thinking of adding an extra set of workouts to Stage 2 so I'll do 5 workouts of each A & B (instead of 4). Any thoughts on that? I feel like I've really struggled with the workouts/form has been off/haven't followed the workouts right . . . . Would do a workout and then read this thread or…
  • I have a cheap HRM too -- only tells peak and average and total time worked out. I use it to track calories burned for the total time I'm working out (using a formula I found on livestrong) that is based on my average heart rate (and age, and weight). I find I don't necessarily burn as many calories doing interval training…
  • Sadly, I didn't take great measurements before I started. But, I have lost 1.5 inch in my waist and 5.5 lbs. while in Stage One. And, all my clothes are fitting better. Tried on a pair of shorts from last summer that had been tight, and they fit really nicely -- almost too big in the waist. Some of my shirts I thought were…
  • Just finished Stage One! I have really enjoyed reading these posts and the support from everyone (even though I've only been lurking ;) ) and I'm looking forward to Stage Two. One piece of advice for people just starting out -- don't be afraid to use the free weights! I went the whole workout using 2 25 lb. dumbells on my…
