oh, and food for thought, my 44 year old sister-in-law and my 49 year old aunt both have emphysema. that could have been me. glad i quit. basically, you slowly asphyxiate over many years. but, i also used to be that person who liked it and who could quit anytime. i am amazed by the improvement in my lung volume and my…

i quit 3 years ago, but i still have dreams about them. but then when i do have a pull off one, it tastes disgusting. glad i gave it up, but can totally relate to not wanting to let it go. i quit during my 1st pregnancy and started as soon as i stopped nursing. it was only when i gave up with pregnancy #2 that it stuck...

i would say that i didn't have a weight problem until i was an adult. however, i've had food issues almost my entire life. i remember closet eating as a kid - hiding behind the couch and gorging on brownies at age 8. my mother was so concerned about us having weight issues that i think unknowingly, she created them by…

i don't think you can. i've wanted the same feature for some time.

eatingwell.com and someone mentioned cooking light. if you eat pork, google cooking light pork loin lime cilantro tacos. in fact, i'm making them tomorrow night. my whole family LOVES them. the are the bomb. especially if you use red onion - and we use yellow corn tortillas instead of flour...

maybe you are allergic to an ingredient? i've never had an issue with protein powders. my sister is vegan and is very selective about the ones she uses (rice protein) vs whey which is obviously sourced from milk. maybe you have a soy allergy?? might look into the ingredient list a little more.

36 yrs old - 245 - December 31, 2011. Never plan to see that number again. I remember when I was in my late 20's and had put on a little weight and was in a size 9. i bawled that i was in a 9. i thought i was HUGE. i would KILL to be a 9 again!!!

I also think that as women, we aren't as visual - we look for attributes beyond the physical and so a little pooch on a guy might not bother us as much as that same pooch on a girl would bother a guy. different expectations of what we are supposed to look like in the buff. my hubby and i have many 'couple friends' and…

i think he said he eats a DEFICIT of 900 cals a day. Not that he EATS 900 cals a day...

That is awesome. I can't wait to get rid of my "belly-be"! (This is the term a girlfriend and I use. As in, "my belly be sticking out further than my boobs.")

to each their own. i didn't want kids until i met my hubby. i was in my 30's and he in his 40's and neither of us had had kids yet or any intention to. our daughter was kind of a "whoops!' but i wouldn't trade it for anything now. you gotta live your life the way you see fit and i think it is far more responsible to…

we come from an eastern european background, so i realize this could be cultural, but my dad kissed his dad until the day my grandpa died (my dad was 51 at the time and my grandpa 76). my dad hugs my hubby (hubby is still adjusting 6 years later) but he recognizes the value of teaching your kids empathy and wants that for…

final thought and then i'm gonna leave this thread alone. 3 books you should seriously think about reading - Omnivores Dilemma In Defense of Food The End of Overeating you'll rethink what you know about food, how the food companies have manipulated us into becoming "food addicts" and learn why it's so important on a much…

I will also note that my kids, OCCASIONALLY, with their grandparents, do get Happy Meals, etc. My hubby and I also go out to eat at local restaurants that prepare locally grown foods. Not always "clean." No one is deprived. We have a healthy balance.

I learned to read using phonics, i've taken several college-level chemistry courses - i can also pronounce them. Figuratively - long *kitten* chemical compounds probably don't have a place in our bodies. We survived thousands of years without them and in the last 150 yrs or so, we've found it necessary to load our food…

When someone makes the choice to eat "clean" they are choosing to eliminate all processed foods and extra additives from their diet. Basically, you are choosing to eat whole, unrefined foods. The basics of eating clean include - eating lots of fruits and vegetables. These are straight from nature - the idea is to stay away…

awesome!! you look great! no need to be self-conscious at all. you are rockin' it girl! keep up the great work!

^^^^ This. I have also spent years on them. I didn't not want to be "dependent" on a pill to make me feel better and so I attempted to stop taking them a year ago with really awful consequences. Then my wonderful husband put it in perspective for me. He said, "This is an illness. If you could will it away, would you?" To…

i can't get to the gym very often - schedule just doesn't allow it. I workout at home. I do my cardio and resistance via push-ups, planks, etc. i have resistance bands but am at a loss about how to use them to really create definition. any ideas?

so eating a box of twinkies as long as it is within your calorie allotment is healthy? i'm sorry - there is healthy and unhealthy. study after study have demonstrated that processed foods lead to obesity. i'm not saying you can't have them at all, but there is a HUGE difference in calorie quality in brussel sprouts versus…

You are probably correct that it won't undo everything. But for me, it's a moral issue about the treatment of animals, about business models and the world I envision. Don't get me wrong, I eat meat and I've been known to grab a burger now and again, but I try to find other fast alternatives - and they do exist - because…

bad shrimp? i bloat with veggies but don't experience gas. that happens when i eat meat. beano does work - as a former vegetarian, i used to use it even more than i do now. but your body does adjust. just keep eating more veg. and as one poster said, you'll get to the point that eating out does it to you. i made the…

you basically have to jump thru hoops to get it. if you are overweight, you have to lose the weight first. then, you need to have a series of documented ailments - back pain, bra strap indentations, etc. for over a year before they will consider covering. at least that was my insurance....

i've been endowed my entire life. you can have mine. they aren't all they are cracked up to be. but whatever makes you feel good about yourself and if you can afford the maintenance go for it.

my grocer carries dehydrated lime & lemon juice. i keep a couple packets in my purse for a little flavor on the go. it's a powder like the crystal light, but it's just the juice. i think there are some with additives, so watch your labels. personally, i also use the mio once or twice a day. it's my one "thing". i know it's…

no food touching. i eat on my kid's divided plates!
