It's January. My anual return to MFP is here. I'm shooting for the usual 15 to 20. October through December kill me every year.

For weight loss/gain it boils down to CICO. For overall health you need to monitor "what" you are eating also. I think people miss the distinction of someone talking about weight loss versus health when discussing the merits of CICO. I'm a big CICO believer.

In my experience I've been able to go over one or even two days at times during a week and still lose weight. Then again, I have weeks where I hit my goal every day and don't lose anything. Weight loss is crazy like that.

What?? You mean I have to do my Rum drinking before 7pm? Say it isn't so.........

I'm not an expert by any means but I've been through a weight loss cycle a few times now while lifting. Each time when I'm down to the last ten pounds or so I lose strength but some comes back once I go back on maintenance and fill that calorie deficit. I'd say if you aren't worried about performance stick with your goal…

I know what you mean OP. I got in a cycle where I couldn't go two weeks without a cheat night. And cheat night for me felt like I was only eating my deficit that day, not a complete bing. And just doing that seemed to cost me two weeks. Meaning I'd plateau that week of the cheat and it wouldn't be until the following week…

Guys that are there for a social club instead of getting their work out in. I went to the gym earlier than usual a while back and was already a little cranky to start with and in a bit of a hurry to get my workout in. I walk up to a machine that is open and hear a "I'm using that machine still". I turn around and there's a…

People that walk up to the dumbbell rack grab their weights and do their sets right there in front of the rack. Then you have to stand there waiting for them to finish to get to your weights. Although I'm not immune to invading their personal space if I can reach my weights without impeding their motion. Just to give them…

If you are in deficit you'll continue to lose fat. Even if you don't grow muscle, more muscle will be revealed as the fat comes off. Your appearance will be be like you're getting more toned/muscular.

In the spirit of TMI I'll share my experience. But then again maybe guys perceptions are different. When I put on weight it goes on my backside as well as other places. My wife says she really liked my bubble butt and misses it as it went away as my weight drops. I in no way took that as she'd prefer I stay fat and…

I had it about 5 years ago but wasn't on MFP at the time. I have a feeling staying on MFP is going to be the least of your concerns once full onset hits. Don't be afraid to use the pain medication. I was going to use mine sparingly but that idea went out the door fairly quickly.

There were six of us and I have no idea how she handled it. My dad was a work aholic and wouldn't get home till late. There were times we drove her nuts and she'd escape away to her room and lock the door to just get some peace. But, there were other times I distinctly remember seeing the joy, love, happiness on her face…

Ha, At last, I knew it had to be you ;) , I figured you must have gotten your "booty's" mixed up and grabbed the wrong one :)

Not me. But then again I'm older and married. Although I did get "goosed" during a group photo recently  And for the life of me can't figure out from who.

I glance around the room between sets. Whomever is in the area gets a look. Not on purpose or with intent it's just what my eyes do. Sometimes a woman will glance at the same time I'm glancing, it happens. I did catch myself staring once, I was measmerized by her shoulder definition while she was doing a lift. It was…

Break it down into realistic achievable steps that don't require drastic wholesale changes. I'd start out eating mostly the way you do now, but cut the total calories consumed so you start losing weight. In other words don't worry about the "healthy clean" eating so much now as the total calories consumed. Trying to change…

I bought two boxes from the neighbor girl last week. I was hoping my wife and kids would eat them up fairly quickly. After a couple days the one box that started out just whispering my name was now yelling and screaming at me "You won't see me for another year!!!" Yep, I ate half the box.......doh!

It can vary on how you are wired. Mine are weighted to the second half of the day. I eat a small breakfast because a bigger one makes my system feel out of whack. I go 125 calorie breakfast, 375ish lunch, then about 1,000 for snacks & dinner. When on maintenance I'll probably add a mid-morning snack but will still weight…

Experiment with your numbers. Cut it from 1650 to 1550 and see if that gets the scale moving. I found I had to eat 100 calories below target to get the weight loss going and hit the MFP weekly goal. Then like bbell1985 I got maniacal about measuring, weighing, and tracking everything (no eyeballing and no going by package…

I've been there too. I've been using MFP off and on for about five years now. After my initial 40 lb weight loss I've come back three or four times to take off that "weight creep" that happens. A couple years ago following an injury it was 25 lbs and now I'm currently in the middle of taking the 15 lbs I put on over the…

Count calories. Use MFP to set a weight loss goal and eat to your daily calorie goal. Do that and you'll lose fat.
-
My advice is to experiment. Record 50% to start out. If you lose more than 1.5 pounds per week then up it to 75% or 100%. I've found I have to experiment a bit with the numbers to hit the sweet spot for me.

I go three times a week and spend an hour and fifteen minutes. 55 minutes of weights and 20 minutes on the treadmill.

We got the fishy cracker reprimand from our kids school. This is just a manifistation of how the majority of people these days feel it's the governments responsibility to parent our kids and also parent the parenting. People sincerely believe the governement knows better than we do on whats best. Not just in parenting but…

I know how you feel. I lost 25 pounds over the course of a year being very disciplined to MFP. Hit my goal then celebrated by putting 10 lbs on over the course of two months. Too much ice cream, fast food, etc. Back on MFP again planning out how I'll do it differently. I went through this a few years back though and had…

I hit the big 5 0 this year. I've been an MFP'r almost five years now. I'm in better shape at 50 than I was in my 30's  .
