  • Mine was removed a few years ago. I just wasn't responding to meds at the time, and because of Graves Eye Disease - radioactive iodine treatment was out of the question.
  • To be totally honest lady, my husband is the same way - and has been the same way since we first met 6 years ago. I think its a Marine thing. Sometimes they're hot, sometimes they're cold. They have a lot on their minds a lot of the time, so try not to take offence. :D When it comes down to a boiling point though, I…
  • It really depends. Some people have good experiences with just Synthroid, others a combo of Synthroid + Cytomel, and others with a natural dessicated thyroid. Everyone is different. I'm one of those people who didn't do well with just Synthroid, and still had major symptoms even though my labs tested normal. All that had…
  • There's tons of stuff you can do to try to help yourself. Eating a couple Brazil nuts every day for extra selenium will help your body convert T4 into T3 for energy. Ashwaganda is supposed to help your body deal with stress, boosts your energy, and helps support your immune system and adrenals. A peppercorn sized amount of…
  • I own and do both Zumba and Zumba 2 for the Wii. I absolutely LOVE them! :D I've lost 22 pounds so far since Jan 11 - and a total of 7 inches off my waist!!! Hell yeah!
  • I did both at the same time. The only thing is that for the first 2 weeks, I opted to use Chantix/Champix to take the edge off. After that it was cake. I didn't gain a single pound when I quit - but then I also dug right into my fitness & eating right every single day. On the days I felt like picking up the habit again, I…
  • I normally just make an open faced sandwich on a slice of whole grain or double fiber bread with just half a can - my 4 year old eats the other half. :p I also refuse to purchase junk to put in my pantry. For snacks, we normally do simple stuff like fresh fruit or the healthier granola bars - or even celery with peanut…
  • Have you tried eating protein after you workout? Usually after I workout, I eat tuna and some greek yogurt. The protein should help satisfy you. Also, if you haven't already, switch out all your white breads/pastas/rice to whole grain. The extra fiber in these will take longer to digest, so you don't get hungry again like…
  • I have lost 19 pounds since January 11th from doing Wii Zumba an hour a day at home and kettlebell routines from myomytv.com every other day. Right now I'm a stay at home mom. As soon as my youngest starts school I may start going to the gym again.... but right now I'm loving my at home workouts.
  • I quit smoking 129 days ago - it gets easier every day, and most days I don't even think about it. :D Plus, I did it without gaining a single pound!! I used Chantix/Champix just for the first 2 weeks to get over the major withdrawls, then used my own willpower - but by then, it was cake! I had tried to quit smoking like a…
  • I do Wii Zumba as well (absolutely LOVE it) - and I do some kettlebell & body weight routines I found on myomytv.com they're absolutely amazing!! On my rest day I normally just pop in a pilates dvd, and do that.
  • I'm totally making these today! Yummmmm!
  • MFP has my base calories set at 1580 per day. I burn about 700 calories doing 1 hour of Zumba every day, and I only eat about half of those back - so I eat about 1800-1900 calories every day unless I take a rest day. So far, since I started this mid January, I've successfully been able to lose 1-2 pounds per week. But…
  • Heck yeah!! I came to that conclusion a few months ago when I was struggling yet again to go low carb while watching my family eat all the foods I love!! I have no allergies to food, so why should I put myself on a special diet that just restricts me? Being able to have true options, but also the sense to eat them in…
  • My endo told me I was pre-diabetic over a year ago. Just recently she told me that I'm in the normal range again, and that if I keep it up she'll take me off my metformin. I have cleaned up my eating a LOT since then. More veggies, smarter fruits (I personally LOVE grapefruit), and leaner meats. As for my breads, pastas, &…

  • I have a pair of New Balance 871's I use just for Zumba on a daily basis. They're amazing, lightweight, and easy to move in!
  • I eat anywhere from 1800-2000 calories a day total. But then I do at least an hours worth of Zumba every day burning 600-700 calories & kettlebell strength training every other day that burns another 250-300 calories. I eat back enough calories to have around 1100-1200 NET calories after the burn. I have had a full…
  • I can totally relate. I actually ended up going through 3 endo's, and now I'm on my 4th. It finally took me totally breaking down, scheduling an emergency appointment, taking with me a list of all the symptoms I was still experiencing before my current doctor realized that the "regular" treatment wasn't working for me.…
  • Same. But whatever floats your boat. Personally, I feel more feminine when my skin is soft and super smooth. I couldn't handle having lengthy hair in my pits/legs.
  • I've been doing some kettlebell routines, and have seen some dramatic changes in my arms in the last month. :D Kettlebell is a lot of fun too!!! :D
  • I have 2 boys that were like this - age 12 & 9. Instead of making this a diet for just me, I did a complete overhaul on how my entire family eats. I stopped buying any sort of processed cereals for my children. We eat oatmeal most mornings. It keeps us fuller longer, gives more energy. I stopped with the school lunches.…
  • Sam's Club - Apples, boxes of grapefruit, frozen chicken tenderloins, granola bars, and greek yogurt.
  • I use Philosophy Amazing Grace every day after I shower. I love it, and it smells amazing!
  • I was you just a couple months ago. I ended up making a special appointment to my endo, and ended up bawling as soon as she asked me how I was doing. I ended up telling my endo that her magic numbers on my lab tests felt nothing like normal to me, and pulled out a list I had made with all the symptoms I was still…
  • I think the type of grains makes a huge difference for me. I don't eat anything "white"... when I do eat breads its whole grain sugar free, and the pastas are always whole grain. The extra fiber in my diet has done wonders for the glucose intolerance I was having because of my thyroid issues as well.
  • Wow.. 4 hours seems like a long time. What type of meds are you on? When I wake up in the morning its Synthroid. Then I wait an hour, and have oatmeal with a little fat free milk. Because of the calcium I wait another hour and take my first dose of Cytomel. You could make ahead of time some whole grain muffins, and eat…
  • Awesome!! Way to stick with it! You look like a totally different person! :D
  • Hello! My name is Jennifer and I'm addicted to ZUMBAAAAA!!!
  • I take 10,000 mcg of Biotin - just 1 pill a day. I think it was like $11 for a bottle of 120 at amazon.com. I've been taking it for about 5 months now, and I've seen a noticable difference in the amount of hair I had been losing. Plus its made the texture of my hair silkier - and my nails are looking fab! Edit: My endo…
  • I did Nutrisystem for a couple months - until I realized that their REAL program was something i could do on my own for wayyyyyy less money. All you do is: Watch your serving sizes & make sensible food choices. Split your meals up into 6-7 meals every couple hours to keep your metabolism running.
