Hi! You will love MFP, it's a great place to meet people and accomplish goals. The Success stories are SO inspiring. Feel fre to add me if you'd like. ~Jess P.S. I thought the topic of this post was "New and need some WEIGHTLESS friends.."

Woot woot! Way to go, Mark! Congrats!

>>>> PROTEIN <<<< Protein will help curb your hunger. I love string cheese sticks, but you can also try yogurt (esp. Greek yogurt, higher in protein), cottage cheese, hard-boiled eggs, protein bars, protein shakes. I used to be a sugar-aholic. Maybe I still am. But if I get enough protein, I can watch my kids eat candy and…

Thank you so much for this post, Elizabeth! I thank you from the bottom of my noob-heart. ~Jess

I agree! I used to walk dogs for the animal shelter, it is great exercise and you will feel SOOOO good about helping them! ~Jess

I'm sorry to hear about your GSD. Hopefully your life will setlle down soon, and you can get another one. I have two Giant Schnauzers: Atlas, age 6, has his Rally-excellent title, and companion dog title. Phoebe, age 5, is only a Rally Novice but i've done some tracking with her and we are training in agility now. Oh, and…

DING DING DING! This is great info, I always wondered why my feet went numb on the elliptical! And since it's my primary cardio workout, I appreciate learning about the other mistakes, too.

I'd love to join!

I went to school and was in a small group with a very, very thin and attractive black woman. She also happened to be somewhat racist against whites. I totally cracked up when we were talking about weight and she said, "Your problem is you eat too much candy. I try to stay away from anything WHITE..... white flour, white…

It very much depends on the dog, and your cats' reactions to the dog. Sometimes, getting a puppy is the best choice because the puppy learns to respect the cat (I'm assuming they aren't declawed). Sometimes, shelters will know whether a dog is good with cats. And sometimes your cats will be upset about a new family member…

No! You need to eat back your exercise calories!

I reached my goal weight 8 yrs. ago, after working out and eating right for about a year. I was disappointed.... like, "What do I do now?" Reaching my goal weight didn't change my life the way I'd imagined--- I was still the same shy, anxious person with a pimply face but could fit into a smaller pants size. People…

Nice! Add me!

Read that again, because it is spot on! I am glad you had a chat with your fiance about this whole thing. He is going to be your partner and he deserves to know what is going on in your life. You cannot choose your family, but you don't need to enable your mum to continue making bad decisions. You ARE choosing your spouse,…

Love this idea! I couldn't choose just one, that's almost torturous. I could live on pizza every day, but I could also live on bread every day. And I'd die with a smile on my face if it was chocolate every day.

What a beautiful inspiration! Thanks for sharing your "failure". And wow, 250 lbs is a wonderful accomplishment!

OMG! I JUST LOL'd!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, though, I've noticed my ribs are more pronounced on one side of my body when it's "that time of the month." No matter what I do, no matter how many left-sided crunches and left-sided planks I do, the left ribs just DISAPPEAR during that time!! I've been thinking about starting a…

You already look awesome, but in case you need it, I'm sending you some GOOD LUCK!

He really is adorable! I love how his tail hangs down from the chair..... great pic!

WHY would getting up and exercising be "stupid"? That doesn't even make sense. I had a friend who would get up at 3:30 AM because she had 6 kids at home and that was the only time she could make it to the gym. If she was crazy, she was crazy like a skinny woman! Stupid? Exercising in the morning is AWESOME for your…

Yup, my fingers have gotten fatter along with the rest of me. I am thrilled that I've lost several lbs. and my ring is getting looser. My advice? If you are SERIOUS about losing weight (i.e. you are going to do it no matter what it takes)--- then don't resize the ring. If you want to lose weight but aren't fully committed,…

Crystal Lake also!

Not even close, I'm a slender (haha) 220 lbs. A couple weeks ago I would sweat a little, but not too much now. Geesh, it sounds like I need to pick up the pace. :grumble: Actually I feel pretty good to accomplish 30 minutes because afterwards I'm pretty wobbly-legged.

Very true, when I say "working hard" it is interval training, hard for a minute, then easier for a minute, then hard again. Usually my HR stays between 130-165.

Amy, You are gorgeous--- what a beautiful pic of you! There's nothing wrong with Slim-Fast as a way to kick-start your diet. But it helps to have a long-term plan. I tried the Slim-Fast shakes a long time ago and found that I actually preferred just drinking a big glass of milk, LOL! Good luck on your upcoming wedding!

You are a great inspiration! What a beautiful lady! :^)

I LOVE eating cottage cheese with fresh or canned pineapple or peaches mixed in! I wouldn't eat it otherwise. Hubby mixes in jam, which I think is weird!

Sounds like you are going through a very rough time right now. I hope if you are depressed that you have at least started on some antidepressant meds--- it can make a world of difference, though it does take about a month before the effects kick in. If you can't take medicine, please, please try to get some exercise every…
