  • I am interested in this also. I get in a rut and do the same thing over and over again. Right now I cycle quite a few miles, walk, run the treadmill and do the elliptical. My goal would be to do something every day. I did complete a 100 day challenge the first part of the year where I worked out at least 30 minutes a day…
  • We do both. I get a better sustained heart rate on the bike. We can bike for hours. With us it is a weather thing. If it is cold or too windy we run, warm we bike. Enjoy both.
  • I have had my Polar for about 18 years and it is just starting to act up. I guess I'll have to get a new one. Are you wearing a chest strap? I think there is something wrong with the monitor. The machines tend to overestimate how many calories you burn.
  • I am from Binghamton, NY. I went to Germany for several years and landed here in the St. Louis area. Nothing beats NY. When you mention the State most think immediately of the City. They just don't realize how much wilderness is in NY. Welcome to MFP, enjoy the journey.
  • Mostly I binge when I am feeling sorry for myself. Comfort food!
  • Wow, that could be my story! I do the same thing to myself. Last night was a good example. Eat until I'm silly and then kick myself for doing it. Wish I knew the secret of self control!
  • Didn't think I would like one because I really like the feel of a book. My family got me the Kindle Fire for Christmas and I absolutely love it! I not only read with it but also watch video (TV programs) on it while on the treadmill. I did purchase the Prime, which allows me to watch a lot of movies, TV programs etc at no…
  • My immediate goal is to be able to run/walk 50 miles in the month of March. My "not in the too distant future" goal is to run a 5K. I would eventually love to run a half marathon. Of course, I have the same goals as many others like, stay really healthy, lose weight, and look great in my skinny clothes.
  • Thank you all for your help. I need to be determined and strong!
  • I had that problem when I started running again. I went to the local running store and they sold me elastic arch supports. Did the job for me. The foot store wanted $800 for custom orthodics. I paid $16 at the running store. It is the only thing that solved my problem. Wouldn't hurt to check it out.
  • I too haven't eaten meat in years, 32 in fact. In January I did a 21 day vegan challenge. Felt absolutely great! I didn't realize how great it was until I went back to eating dairy and eggs after the 21 days. Will definitely do another 21 days, and who knows it may last a lot longer.
  • You should probably shift to an easier gear to make it up the hills. 21 speeds should have a "granny" gear. With practice it really should get easier.
  • Me too. I am at 1200 cal.
  • I like seltzer water . I want to cut down on the diet sodas and determined what I really miss is the bubbles. Seltzer helps with that. I don't see any problem with drinking it. I do drink just water too with lots of ice.
  • With WW it is the accountability that keeps you losing, if you go to the meetings. I just quit WW after finding this site. I had the WW $40 a month program, this gives me basically the same thing without the cost. I have to learn to be accountable to myself.
  • I lived in Germany for 23 years and learned German out of necessity. May I ask how you are learning? Are you doing a class in school or trying on your own? For me being immersed in the culture was the way to do it.
