  • And yet, many of these low fat, low carb, low protein options are not healthy at all. Many are filled with excessive amounts of chemicals and artificial sweeteners. You really should talk to a registered dietician or a doctor about your ideas.
  • Its not lazy, its smart. By restricting everything, you are making it extremely hard for your body to get the proper nutrients it needs. And remember, to keep the weight off, you will likely need to continue whatever changes you make... and I highly doubt that this is a reasonable way of living. I really hope you will…
  • Yeah... basically it sounds like starvation. Protein is good. Carbs (not refined) are good. Certain fats are good... these things help build a strong, healthy body. Sounds to me like you are asking for trouble.
  • My kids call my Mom "Gwamma", because they couldn't say their R's for a while and it just stuck. My half-brother's grandma was called Granna. But my favorite is actually what my kids call my Dad... "Papa Cowboy" or "PC" for short, because my parents live on a ranch, have horses and cows, and ride horses. My daughter called…
  • I like to do intervals- walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes at say, a medium pace, will get boring. But if you start out at a warm-up pace, do 2 minutes at the next pace, 2 minutes at the next pace, etc until you are running, and then work back down, you get more of a workout and it keeps it interesting. You can also…
  • Making the transition (I was vegetarian for quite a while). And now my meat-loving husband is considering an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet. I know that's still a far cry from vegan, but if you knew him, you would know what a serious change that is.
  •
  • Absolutely ridiculous. A) Children are supposed to have some chubbiness to them. B) She is not even close to obese. She weighs slightly more than my 5-year-old, but my daughter also comes from a family of small, short, slender women. People rarely take into account how the child is built. To say she is obese is absolutely…
  • I think its important to note that the meal is not just about you- its about a bunch of people coming together. And if most of the people aren't counting calories, well, that's just how it is. You are going to be outnumbered. You are going to have to buckle down and dig deep and find some will power. I say make some…
  • I am a pumpkin pie fiend, and this was great! I got it from Live Lean on Facebook. It was a hit with all my calorie-conscious friends :) What you will need: 1 15 oz. can pumpkin 8 oz of fat free evaporated milk or skim milk 3 egg whites 3/4 cup stevia 1 tbs vanilla 1tbs cinnamon 1 tsp nutmeg 1 refrigerated pie crust…
  • Actually, a lot of people do this, and not just for that reason. Jumping around with food in your stomach can be a recipe for disaster for some of us. Considering this woman is experiencing stomach pain when eating before, eating after would make more sense.
  • For me, something with carbs (such as a banana, also helps with muscle soreness) before the workout and something with protein after works well. Most people get their protein intake afterward for muscle recovery, not the other way around. Eating right before exercising makes me ill.
  • Ok, are you serious? Because... that's awesome. I am pregnant right now, and the word "pizza" is music to my ears... and stomach!
  • I've heard it both ways- some people swear that sticking to the same stuff makes it easier. Others say that variety is better because they don't get bored. I really think it depends on your personality. From time to time, it helps me to kind of stick to the same stuff. I have a few favorites that I just cycle between.…
  • I like this answer :) Also, I saw once that the Mayans did not take leap year into account, since it was put into affect after their calendar... so the world would've ended quite a while ago.
  • I am sorry, but this made me giggle. I totally know what you mean. I have been A LOT better this time around, but there are times when I am like, " AH! NOM NOM NOM!" And of the very few people I have on my friend's list, only one is pregnant. I know my non-pregnant friends totally don't understand. They often skip over my…
  • Totally normal. Hormones do craaaazy things. Try to keep your husband in the loop though, and be honest with your feelings, so he doesn't start to think its a problem with him. Take time for yourself, so you can separate yourself from the "mommy" role and turn on the "sexy lady" role. That's what I have to do. And hang in…
  • I agree with everyone else- Pack a few higher-calorie snacks to keep your energy up and just have a good time. Listen to your body. If you are hungry, eat. If you aren't, don't. Have fun!!
  • Whoa. Seriously, you look like a whole different, younger person! What an accomplishment! You are doing great- keep up the awesome work!
  • When I met my husband, my hair was short, blonde, with black and pink bangs. A while ago I had dark brown hair with blue and pink under the back portion. I don't have pics though- they are on my other computer. But now my hair is just long, brownish/red with blonde highlights. I REALLY need to do something fun with it! I…
  • This is an honest question, I am not trying to attack or offend- is this a healthy weight gain for pregnancy? My previous baby was born 4 years ago, and then the recommended gain was 15 lbs for a heavier person, 20-25 for someone at a healthy weight, and 30-ish for someone who was under weight. I know there is a wide range…
  • Agreed, totally normal, especially for your first. Around 14 weeks your uterus is just barely starting to poke out above your pelvic bone. So in the beginning its not much of a bump, mostly just a "thickness" around the middle. Don't sweat it though, soon it will turn into a cute little bump!
  • Aw, I am sorry that you feel this way, but I know you are not alone! I am 14 weeks, and though I am showing, its not really a cute bump yet. Mostly just looks like I am carrying extra weight right in my gut. So I have been opting for sweatshirts a lot. Even though this baby was hoped and prayed for, I am not digging the…
  • I am 14 weeks and 1 day, and I have gained 4 lbs. I really try not to focus on the scale too much right now, because the big picture is so much more than that. But this thread does make me feel better, knowing that there is such a wide range of what "normal" is. I know that I am doing better than I did while pregnant with…
  • Hi there everyone- I am coming over from the first trimester group! I am 14 weeks as of yesterday, and totally thrilled to have made it to my second trimester! Quick intro- this is my 5th pregnancy. I have two living children, ages 5 1/2 and 3 1/2, and I have had two miscarriages. Both miscarriages were before 8 weeks.…
  • Do you have a history of gestational diabetes? Or anyone in your family who has had it? If not, and you just tend to have big babies, I wouldn't get TOO concerned. However, I would say to eat normal the day before, so that they can get an accurate reading. But really, it probably doesn't matter, because they often make you…
  • I know its difficult, but don't let your kids sway you- you make the rules, you set the example. I think it just might take some of you putting your foot down. It is an adjustment, believe me, I've been there. But you don't want your kids struggling with the same thing you are, right? Give them a head start, and get them…
  • I hope everyone had a great week! I would love to get some pregnant friends on my friends list. Right now I just have my hardcore losing-weight friends on my list right now, so I am sure my pregnancy talk isn't too interesting right now. It would be nice to have people who are going through similar things. So if you are…
  • Hi there, and congratulations!!! This is my 5th pregnancy (2 living children, 2 miscarriages). This has been totally different than both my pregnancies with my children! Funny how one person can have such different symptoms. Right now I am dealing with very similar symptoms as you- the acne drives me nuts the most though,…
  • Mmmmm Pudding :) Just be careful with the sugar-free. Those are sweetened with artificial sweeteners, and the jury is still out on whether many of them are safe for pregnancy. And now... I want some pudding!
