No, you are definitely not just a crazy, irrational, emotional pregnant lady! That's a lot to deal with, even when you aren't pregnant. And when you are... and especially when you are due to have a wee one any moment, that's a lot of stress. But I am glad that things are better! Take it easy :flowerforyou:

I haven't been on here in FOREVER, so I suppose I better update ;) Tomorrow I will be 39 weeks. I have been having contractions (some B.H., some more intense and crampy) every 3-10 minutes, going on for hours at a time, for at least a week and a half. SUPER annoying. I am sure they are accomplishing something, but I am not…

Oh boy, I have been in a similar situation with sick kids and a baby on the way... I feel for you! With my first baby, I went into labor at the tail end of a cold. So I was already tired from fighting a cold all week and not sleeping. With my second, I got hit with a horrible stomach bug only a week after he was born. But…

This morning: 4 vitamin D drops, kale, frozen strawberries/mango/pineapple/peaches, half a banana, flax seed meal, nonfat plain greek yogurt. :drinker:

I usually pack pepper spray, but this is a good option as well.

Hang in there. Not everyone loses the same, or at the same rate. Your body is going to do what is right for it. Its good to look at it as becoming healthier- which is more important than simply losing weight in the long run. Try setting some non-scale goals for yourself to achieve until the scale starts showing a more…

I second that. Well said.

My piece of advice- be reasonable with your goals. It took 9 months to build life inside your body- no easy task. It may take that long, and likely longer, for your body to get back to where it was. You are not destroyed. And while I am not going to nit-pick your choice of words, I do think you need to keep an eye on your…

I agree with this. This is your birth, and its going to be a hard enough transition as it is, without the added stress of having people constantly everywhere. Make your wishes known, in no uncertain terms, but be polite. Explain that you will need rest, time to bond, time to get the hang of things, etc. They should…

Not personally (though at 5' 3", I wouldn't mind!), but I recently read an article about a couple women who lost weight and did Yoga frequently and they both "grew" an inch or so. Kind of cool!

30 weeks now, and still using the elliptical from time to time, but I have switched to doing stationary bike more often as its less stress for certain parts of my body. I have been doing strength training with dumb bells, as I am not allowed to do heavy lifting. I get out for walks any time the cold weather breaks and we…

Awesome! I am not quiet during labor- well, at least not in a hospital setting and being as unprepared as I was. But our kids will be here, though they probably won't be in the room during the actual birth. My 5-year-old daughter does want to help cut the umbilical cord though. I am not going with a water birth, but I have…

Thank you! I love that there are like-minded Moms on here! My midwife just gave me a list of supplies to get, but a lot of them I can get at yard sales (such as old towels and cloths) and the dollar store (wash cloths, buckets, extra laundry basket), and a site called In His Hands Birth Supply. They have great prices for…

Well, I did it! I put in the call to my doctor, and she gave me the "all clear" to go ahead with a midwife/home birth! I can't tell you how excited I am. Now, I am totally aware that homebirths are not for everyone. And that is totally cool! But in this case, I really feel it was what I needed to do. So I met with a…

I would be using them for layering as well, to go under my shirts that seem too thin or low cut. Thanks for all the ideas everyone!

The coffee shop down the street... it didn't dawn on me until they addressed me by my first name. Then I was like.... Dang, am I really in here THAT much? And the library.

I am 5'3", and I also started around 155 lbs. I lost 36 lbs. I exercised regularly, and tried to switch up my workouts from time to time. I slowly started cleaning up my diet, and weeded out "junk" a little at a time, while incorporating healthier foods. I ate most of my exercise calories, because I am very active and…

What a cool idea! I will definitely have to give that a try!

Thank you, ladies. I will look around for some of those and see what I can find!

Dishes. I hate doing the dishes. I think its because I get them all washed, and then I have to cook a meal for the family, and BAM! There they are again.

Thank you. I think that saying "we decided we want a home birth" seemed a lot less offensive, too. I have always said that it would be perfect if my OB did home births- then I'd have everything I want! She really is a good doctor, and has always been very understanding and respectful. But I can't deal with how her office…

^^^ Great advice! You are in control of the whole thing- don't let the doctors/nurses tell you otherwise, or make you feel otherwise. You are not there to appease them. They are working for you. You can be polite but you need to be firm for sure. And husbands can come in handy with that when you are focused on other…

Hey crunchy Mamas! Has anyone here switched prenatal providers late into their pregnancy? I am 29 weeks with baby #3, and I have been going to the same doctor that I've had since I was pregnant with my first daughter, who was also my OB while I was pregnant with my son. I like her a lot, but a lot has changed, even in the…

Goodness! I am sorry that you are having to deal with all of this, but I am sort of in the same boat. First off, I honestly think you need to find a different provider. One that is all about YOU doing YOUR birth YOUR way. No excuses. They shouldn't merely "tolerate" natural birth- they should encourage you if that is what…

Just because you are seated differently doesn't mean it isn't exercise. It still gets your heart rate up, and if you are actually putting in real effort (such as going faster or upping the resistance), it can be great exercise. So yes!

Deep breath. The worst thing that women do to themselves is compare themselves with other women. Those "other pregnant women" are not you. Focus on the health of your baby, not the scale. Because when it comes down to it, wouldn't you rather have a healthy baby? I just read a ton of birth stories of healthy women who…

Nope, you are not alone! I am just now adjusting to the weight gain- 6 months into my pregnancy. I lost 36 lbs and maintained my weight loss for quite a while before getting pregnant. And when you put that much work into losing weight, it is kind of a shock having to switch around and do the exact opposite. But here are…

I agree with this.

Oh man, I am 26, so I am barely out of that range... does that mean I am an "old" mom!?!?!?!?!? With that said, I have 2 kids (5 years old and 3 years old) and I have another due in May. I'm working on keeping up my healthy habits throughout pregnancy (and beyond!).
