  • You burn a lot of calories breastfeeding. Between 200-500, on average. So yes, to keep up an adequate milk supply, you need to take that into account.
  • Ok, whoa. They have those!?!?! (I basically live in the woods- this is news to me!)
  • I agree- at least they are giving it a shot. Its better than doing absolutely nothing, in my opinion. It bothers me when people on here get all high and mighty about people who have New Years resolutions. Maybe, instead of belittling them, we could all work on encouraging them, because that might be what they are lacking…
  • Cut in half, take the pit out, sprinkle with pepper and salt and enjoy with a spoon right out of the skin! That's the favorite way in my family! Guacamole is good- just mix mashed avocado with fat free sour cream, pepper, and a little garlic salt. I also like to mush it up and put it on sandwiches instead of mayo. :)
  • I really only look at it that way when I am going out to dinner, or having a girls night (which usually includes snacks!), or holidays- that way I don't have to think about what I am eating on those days quite as much, though I do still try to limit myself.
  • It could be that protein is often more filling and sticks with you a bit longer. That's why I try to get more in my diet.
  • Beans and brown rice make a complete protein. And you don't have to only eat beans and rice- I just make dishes that include those two things.
  • I would be surprised if you have kids as well. Its funny, the people without kids are the ones with the most advice. And while I do believe in disciplining and I would not stand for that kind of behavior at all, every person is different. You don't know their family situation, and its possible that the child has a…
  • Have you tried the side-swept bangs? They are a little less harsh than blunt bangs. For me, I like having my hair all one length. Then my bangs don't get sweaty in the summer- ick.
  • Don't drink so much that you get a hangover? I figure, there are ways to have fun without getting smashed. But that's just my personal opinion
  • I went with the weight I was before kids, which is in the middle of the recommended range for my height, but also aimed to be a certain body-fat percentage. I think you'll find a lot of different reasons.
  • No, but it has a very mild taste. I absolutely love it and often eat a bowl of it with just a bit of salt and pepper on it.
  • That looks AMAZING!!!!! So going to try this! I wonder if it would work well with egg/avocado salad.... oh the yum!
  • 130 will look different on everyone- he may be generalizing. You may be able to look just as fantastic without having to lose that much. But you did ask a loaded question. I asked the same question once, but I was prepared to do what it took. My husband didn't give me a "goal" though, he just gave me a general "I don't…
  • I am not sure, but it might boil down to simple math- its not that its completely lacking, only that there isn't enough of a certain protein to be counted as complete. But when you add more, then it has enough to be complete. That would be my guess anyway.
  • It's not dumb- its better to ask. And yes, dairy products can offer a good source of protein.
  • I agree. As a runner, I never just "naturally" got faster. I had to push myself. Once I got strong enough to run 3 miles, I started working on my time. Generally, what I did is start adding little bursts where I would run a bit faster. I gradually made those bursts longer and longer. Also, I ran hills a lot. That way, flat…
  • Wow, that is surprising! I use a New Balance GPS Marathon, and for my weight and age (126 lbs, 26 yrs) it seems fairly accurate.
  • Popcorn, smoothies, or granny smith apples.... in fact, those are all sounding really good right about now. It's not that time of the month for me- I'm pregnant
  • Things that I picked out- You often skip breakfast. Breakfast really does wonders for kick-starting your metabolism. A lot of your foods are highly-processed, high carb, and high-sodium. I recommend getting a little more clean food in there. Make sure you give your body a rest day. I used to think this was stupid, because…
  • I had to chuckle a bit at this- I love knowing that I am not alone. Not that pregnancy should be an excuse for poor eating habits, BUT- Before I became pregnant, I ate a clean vegetarian diet most of the time. But when I got pregnant, I was plagued with horrible migraines and cluster headaches for days. When that subsided,…
  • I am sure your appetite will come back. Just make sure your doc is ok with the lack of gain. As for indulging, we don't really get to indulge as one might think. The additional calories needed for the second and third tri is around 300 calories. About as much as a bagel and a piece of fruit. So you aren't really missing…
  • Exciting! I am 18 weeks, and started feeling mine around 12-13 weeks (this is 5th pregnancy, 3rd one to go into second tri). And it is definitely reassuring when the doc has to chase the baby around!
  • I love it when someone with a sense of humor gets a hold of these posts!
  • Honestly, you are going to find reports of every kind to suit whatever it is that you want to attack. Seriously. You can find articles saying almost every food group is unhealthy. If we always go by that, we would have to eat air... and even that is polluted and unhealthy in most places. So do your research, but take…
  • I agree. They didn't mean any harm, they were just ignorant. And like someone below said, if a complete stranger is ignorant enough to ask another complete stranger if they are pregnant, they aren't worth stressing over. It's a common mistake, and while they really should be more considerate, it has happened to a lot of…
  • I agree with this- maybe plan things that make you look forward to your day- especially things that get you out of the house. That helps me a lot when I get depressed in the winter. Do crafts if you have time, go out with friends, catch a movie... Also, my Mom has one of those sunlight lamps that help her feel better.
  • I'm 5'3", and I look best around 125, so that's my goal (I was at 123, maintained at 126, and then got pregnant... so 125 will be my goal again after baby). I wore a size 6 most of the time, sometimes a 4, and sometimes an 8 depending on the brand.
