  • Hi Dani, I'm doing a worker share on a farm that offers a CSA. I've basically found a farmer who is willing to pay me in food rather than money. My back is sore today though! But, I'll have a spinach salad with dinner. :)
  • My go to quick and easy snack: an avocado with honey mustard dressing. This is often what I'll eat while I'm getting dinner made. :)
  • Hey Folks, I'm back if you'll have me! Fell off the wagon for a while there and my weight started going in the wrong direction. :( Those 2 little pounds I worked so hard to gain are now gone, but I'll get 'em back. Life's been busy here. Saturday, I'm running a 20 mile race and am really looking forward to it. I think I'll…
  • I've been playing for a few days. Plenty of fun! I don't bring the iPhone on a lot of my runs, so I don't brun through the episodes too fast! If you like to run and you like stories, check out the game!
  • Proud to say I logged yesterday! Yay for me. Plan to log today as well. It's 5:45 in the morning here, I'm getting ready to meet a friend at the track, then off to work for me. Why do I agree to this insanity!?
  • I fell off the wagon there! But, I'm determined to crawl back on, starting right now. Despite logging inconsistently for the last couple weeks, I've managed me meet my February goal. Sure, it was a modest goal of gaining half a pound in a month. But It's better than no gain or a loss for me. I want to see if I can gain a…
  • Hi All. Sorry I've been quite for a while! Busy busy! Bum - LOVE the photos! Very creative, looks like a lot of fun was had. This past Friday, I started a temporary part time job in addition to my other part time job (looking for FULL time work). The job is ok, nothing too special, but it's been rough getting everything…
  • Oh, Bum! I wish I knew a spell to fix your car. When running, it's best to land on your mid foot, not your heel. Landing on your heel is pretty tough on your joints like you said. Take a peek at this brief youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx6x2cD6Y8Q For more, check out the book Chi Running by Danny Dreyer.…
  • Oh - I had my chocolate. And my Love brought me my FAVORITE - banana cream pie - from this great specialty bakery. I just love that man. :) Bum - so cool about the new iPods. :) How long has your foot been hurting you now? Has it been a week? Also, how is your costume coming along? We demand photographs! I was also not…
  • On Valentines Day, I think it's good to remember to take care of our hearts, today and every day! If you've not yet seen this video, I think it's worth the 10 minutes to watch! Amber http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=aUaInS6HIGo
  • Hey Huffelpuffs, This is a longer youtube video, but I think it's very much worth the 10 minutes to watch. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=aUaInS6HIGo Take care of your heart on Valentines Day and every day!
  • What a nutty day for me! I totally fell off the logging wagon and went wacky with my eating. Not that I ate anything "bad" though. After work (and running group) I went to the grocery store because I needed ONE thing but ended up going crazy and buying a bunch of food from the deli. I was at the local hippy healthy store,…
  • It takes time. Lots of time. Running is about constant improvement. It's not something you can achieve. Even the guy who holds the world record in the marathon is finding ways to improve and get faster and stronger - someone is always chasing his time. I think the best part of running is that it will always be a challenge.…
  • I did survive my run today! Just about 11 miles in very cold weather. It was about 7 F with winds around 10MPH. So, cold. But it was good to run with my running partner again. It's so much more fun with company. I was tired when I got home, but had to head to work anyway. I'm excited to give the challenges another go. But,…
  • Also - what are the challenges for the coming week? I'd actually like to keep them the same. It takes more than a week to change habits! I find that I'm doing better now adding veggies and I still need more time to add strength work. Thoughts?
  • Hey Folks, Well, I'm up a pound since last week! Yay! The bummer is that last week was a loss, so this weeks gain is actually getting me back to my starting point... But I'll take it. I've not been on my A game this week due to that weird cold I had. Wednesday night I was stuffy. Thursday morning, I was not stuffy anymore,…
  • Run, work, eat. Quality time with my sweetie to follow. Q
  • I think I've got a cold. :( It's been over 4 years since I've had one, so I guess I'm due. Almost fell asleep in my lunch today and then missed a turn going to the grocery store! At home, curled up on the couch, I feel pretty good - but any minimal activity knocks me out. Blah.
  • Hi All, I vanished for a while there! I guess that means I’ve been busy and doing all kinds of stuff. My yesterday (Wednesday) was a little crazy. I met my friend in the morning and helped her through her workout. We did 6 x 800 meters at 10 minute per mile pace. Then, showered up at the gym and went to work. Ate a ton at…
  • How did it get to be Tuesday already?? Sunday was a strange day for me as far as eating goes. I went to my moms for lunch and then my fiances parents for dinner and super bowl stuff. Both meals were seriously lacking in veggies, but I managed to get a couple servings in. Sundays run was nice though. That little bit of a…
  • Oh.... Oh... Wait.... So, did you mean that if I did 10 push ups, 10 sit ups and ran for 30 minutes, that would be 3 OWLS? one point for each exercise? Somebody, decide and stop me from making more of a mess!!
  • If you do exercises like lunges, sit ups, push ups, barbell curls... If you do 10 of 'em you get a house point. So, 10 of anything = 1 point. 10 pushups and 10 minutes of running would be 2 points. 60 minutes of running, 10 push ups, 10 sit ups would be 8 points. :)
  • Happy Sunday morning! I realized yesterday that I only counted minutes of running for this weeks house points and did not add any points for the other exercises! I'll get there yet! Yesterday, I got 6 newts and 0 owls, but ran for more than half an hour. I was going to do 10 miles or so, but was feeling a little off. So,…
  • Runkeeper is not terribly accurate. And a measured 10k must be at LEAST 10k to be certified. If its a race, just use your race results. Thats what you paid your entry fee for, right?
  • Oh, look at us all! There is an actual "group" but it's been quiet. Take a look - might be a good way to keep in touch!
  • Tracks are measured at the inside line. In the winter, I sometimes run at the indoor track. The inside lane is 8 laps to the mile. The outside lane is something like 6.85 laps to the mile. And what kind of watch do you have? GPS or a foot pod? A GPS is less than ideal on a track because of all the turns. And of you have…
  • 2/3 5 points. Took another day off the exercise. Well, I did some crunches and push ups, but nothing big! Planning on going for a longer run today. :)
  • Suzy, I'm glad you don't want to weigh 5 pounds. Barbie does have some pretty great outfits these days, but her proportions are a bit unrealistic... Can I add a slight suggestion or tweak to the OWL challenge? Is it going to be just points for strength? Could we have a point for each 10 minutes of cardio too? I only…
  • Sounds terrible - unhealthy. It's full of chemicals and things you can't digest - and it upsets your stomach. And probably cost $50 or more. Maybe have some trail mix or a peanut butter sandwich.
