Very true,in the summer. But if you live in the northern hemisphere, then, as my doctor said, "you could sit outside naked on a sunny day in January, and you still won't make any vitamin d because the sun is not strong enough." I take a year round dose of 1200 IU daily and I do find that it helps a great deal.

At the very least you should be eating your 1200 calories because (as someone also said) if you don't eat enough your body will adjust, and go into starvation mode.
