  • I started drinking my coffee black when I started using a French press and good quality organic, free trade coffee. I like a good teaspoon of cinnamon mixed in too!
  • And I would recommend avoiding the vegan cheeses and too many mock meats. A lot of them really don't come close to real meat and are filled with junky unpronounceable ingredients. Though I am a sucker for Fieldroast Apple-sage sausages, and most of the frozen veggie burgers.
  • Vegetarian for 7 1/2 years here. I really liked all the netflix movies above. Vegan faves: The E2 book has lots of good recipes, Thug Kitchen is out if this world amazing! They also have a blog, but they use lots of profanity so be prepared. As for protein, many vegans/vegetarians reject the U.S. Dietary guidelines protein…
  • Lots of good advice. I try to distract myself and if that doesn't work, I have to do 50 jumping jacks, 30 crunches and 10 lunges on each leg, then drink a big glass of water. If it still sounds good, I'll go for it. As for not wasting food, I have no problems putting 2 tablespoons of some left over in the fridge. Sometimes…
  • Just making sure you found the vegetarian/vegan protein sources too. We can use quinoa, beans and lentils for red containers.
  • Here's what I'm eating today.
  • Btw, the tofu recipe above sounds good!
  • I would love to try that! I do a poor job of planning ahead very far so that would be helpful. I struggle to make the daily decision between avocado, cheese and hummus. Such a cruel choice to have to make!
  • Blog called Potentially Lovely is where I got the recipes I've tried. She has a much higher calorie goal and tends to ignore the oil in her recipes, but they are tasty! I made her balsamic tofu and quinoa taco bake.
  • I love avocado toast! 1/3 or 1/2 an avocado on ezekial (or other whole grain bread) with zit the salt and garlic powder. Also, the smoothie above sounds helpful.
  • Keep in mind those values are just a guideline. There are lots of schools of thought about what is actually appropriate. And I agree with most of the recommendations above.
  • Take a look at the fat too. Low calories, but high in fat. I LOVE popcorn, as in could eat one of those Costco bags by myself in a weekend. But I try and save it for a treat because of the fat. Remember, low in calories doesn't always mean healthy.
  • I got a julienne slicer recommended by Oh She Glows. You don't get the fun spirals, but it was only $6 and its small (like a veggie peeler).
  • Best kale salad ever: 1 bunch kale (12-14 leaves) 1 avocado 1 lemon 1 carrot shredded 1/2 red pepper Chop kale into small pieces. Sprinkle with salt and lemon juice and massage. Add avocado and squish together and continue kale massage (so it's like guacamole with kale). Add shredded carrot and diced red pepper. (If it…
  • MFP is the best IMHO because of #1 the people and community and #2 I think the foods/recipes already logged and searchable are much much more complete than any other site!
  • I think my soreness is getting a little better. It's the full body cardio stuff that so hard on me! After my first work out (dirty 30), I couldn't pick up a piece of broccoli I dropped on the floor. I had to have my 8 year come pick it up!
  • I usually don't. I always found it annoying to do my hair and make up then just shower afterward. Then I never find it worth it to reapply for just the last few hours if the day. I usuly work out in mid to late afternoon.
  • There's a 21 day fix group too if anyone wants to join! Not very active right now, but it's showing signs of picking up.
  • I got the whole program, I'm on Day 5. Love the videos! I like it because it reminds me to eat more veggies and protein. The vegan shakeology is tasty and the only protein powder I have found I can drink everyday with just water that doesn't have soy or whey, but it's super expensive! Other protein powder recommendations…
  • I agree with trying spotify! They have tons of different workout playlists. Have a few favorite styles. Fave Bollywood songs are Na Jaane, Fanaa, Batamez Dil and Party on My Mind. Kesha, Kelly clarkson, Nicky Minaj, pitbull. I also like rock so I have Ace of Spades by Motörhead, bad boy boogie by AC/DC, Iron Maiden.
  • Day 5 today. The workouts are seriously kicking my a**! I have a tendency towards being sore easily, so even when I feel good after the workout, I can't move the next day! Granted, I'm certainly not in the best shape of my life either. Anyone else have this problem?! I've also lost 2.5lbs, so that's still a positive!
  • I just have to share this come back I stole from my best friend, who is super skinny and was often the subject of similar unsupportive comments that have been listed here. One day a girl (who was usually very snarky to her) said "I don't think people give you enough credit for how hard you work on your diet". To which my…
  • Good luck today!! Are you doing the shakeology too? My friend (who is also my coach and got me into this) swears the shakes make a huge difference. So far, I think she might be right.... That or it's my increased protein intake. I'm a vegetarian and tend to more carb heavy.
  • Me too!! I need some accountability. I have trouble with long term goals, so this would be perfect!
  • Hey! I'm on Day 1... So no results yet! Excited to see what happens!
  • 8 years vegetarian and intermittent vegan! I obsessively collect recipes and love to cook. Yay Veggie People!!! Slowly but surely we will dominate the world!
  • I'm on my way! 17 lbs down in 2 months! Long way to go for me, but I hadn't actually looked at side by side pics, so this was a fun idea!
  • This all sounds so good! Recipes or links please! (esp for the lentil loaf! Haven't found a good recipe yet) I've made sweet potato black bean enchiladas 3 times in the last couple of month. Delish! Easy to make vegan and not nearly as time consuming as they look. http://www.vegetariantimes.com/recipes/11841?section= I…
  • This is super easy to make vegan too. One of the best recipes I've tried in a really long time: Sweet potato black bean enchiladas from Veg times. http://www.vegetariantimes.com/recipes/11841?section= I advise doubling the sauce recipe and letting it simmer for a couple of hours. Melds the flavors and thickens the sauce.…
