  • Metabolism does tend to slow down as we age, but I agree with several other posters who said that you're probably eating more than you think you are. Digital food scales can definitely help if that's the case. As far as fen-phen, I also agree with someone who said that the drug is no longer legal in the US, though there…
  • With no experience myself, but having seen others do it on here, do a search for it in the database. There are quite a few entries. I see quite a few listed as -500 calories.
  • I usually drink between 128-144 oz of water per day. I usually have to get up to pee once per night. Part of that is also because I'm 40+, I believe. I generally try to stop drinking anything about an hour before going to bed, if at all possible. I believe that helps at least a little.
  • I've been on Synthroid (I've read numerous places that the generic may not be as effective as the brand name, so I've never taken generic {my doc told me last time I was in that doctors have been hearing this as well}) for hypothyroidism for 4.5 years. I've had to have my dose adjusted slightly a couple of times. I also…
  • It really depends on what you're looking for. PiYo is body weight training and you *will* burn, but likely not what you're used to seeing for most of the workouts. At the beginning you do an upper body workout and a lower body workout (specific) a few times and I found those particular workouts to be the lowest burning.…
  • They actually have a much lower sodium content than their "non-lean" counterparts, but still not "low." OP: I eat one nearly every day for lunch Mon-Fri, along with a Greek yogurt. That's enough to fill me up, but you could additionally add a small salad or other veggie to help you feel full without a lot of additional…
  • Prednisone is a corticosteroid, not a hormone (that I know of). But, being a steroid, it can definitely cause an increased appetite. But, bottom line, you don't have to give in to that urge. it's a choice. Yes, the medication can make it more difficult, but you know how many calories you can eat per day, if you consume…
  • I've done it twice. I'm doing something else currently, but it's definitely a good, challenging workout. The first time I did it, I only did 3 workouts per week with it, so it took 6 months, rather than 3, to complete it. That was early last year (Jan-June 2013). When I did it the second time, this spring, I did the 6…
  • LOL It has EVERYTHING to do with the government. They won't outlaw them because they get ridiculous tax revenue from them for one thing. I'm a former smoker. Yes, people should be allowed to smoke in public in designated spaces. Also, "outside" in general.
  • I've been maintaining for two years. I still track daily. If I go out to dinner, sometimes my whole day doesn't get logged, but I'm still on here daily. I have hypothyroidism. I had lost weight before, but then slacked off on exercise as I got "too busy." I gained back 15-20 of the 40 I'd lost. For me, I have to continue…
  • I have hypothyroidism which was diagnosed 6 years ago. At the time, I was also called "pre-diabetic," which I believe is another term for "insulin resistance." I lost weight after my diagnosis. I was put on Synthroid and Metformin. I lost the weight by working out, which, of course probably balanced out the calories in vs…
  • I felt like an imposter when I first started wearing 8s. I'd been a 10/12 for years, had gone as high as a 14. Now I wear 6s and even have some 4s. The strangeness does eventually wear off, but it may take a bit. I seriously felt like, at the time, I shouldn't be wearing those pants, that they couldn't possibly fit me.…
  • I met my husband online, not here, not a dating site. We were friends for probably 2, maybe 3, years before meeting in person. He lived in Louisiana and I lived in Ohio. We became the best of friends, chatting on the phone for hours nearly everyday. Once I met him in person, we decided to pursue a relationship, even though…
  • Ohio here too and I've always said it LANK-uh-ster, which is the way all the people I know from there say it as well. I always understood, though, than the one in PA was LAN-cas-ter. lol Never been to the one in PA to see how they said it though, so I'll take that local's word for it.
  • Central Ohio I grew up saying "pop," but my CA-native husband has converted me to calling it "soda." Subs Both, though I think I mostly say "lightning bug." Cart Couch, usually, but sometimes sofa. The liquor store is either that (liquor store) or the state store. Growing up, I remember my parents referring to it as the…
  • Yes. An apartment that I used to live in had them one winter. And it was an entire family. :ohwell: I could hear them in the walls first, it would wake me at night (which is actually pretty funny considering that the apartment was situated next to rail road tracks). I'd had enough, though, when I was awakend by the pitter…
  • :flowerforyou: :drinker: Nicely stated. :drinker: :flowerforyou:
  • Last time I checked rice was primarily a carb, but apparently in this instance it's lost its carbohydrates. ??? ETA: The staff edit made this look nonsensical, so I had to fix it...
  • Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight... That's why Congress called him to the carpet for his false claims. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/17/dr-oz-congress_n_5504209.html ""I get that you do a lot of good on your show," McCaskill told Oz, "but I don't get why you need to say this stuff because you know it's not true." Oz insisted…
  • I've done a bunch of programs since, to include even doing this one again, I think... But I wrote a blog post when I finished RI30 two years ago. Here it is: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/mariposa224/view/finishing-ripped-in-30-amazed-at-inches-lost-285798 I did 30 Day Shred, then did Ripped. I lost 9 inches with…
  • I know what it is, thanks. And to me, it appeared to be *kitten* stirring, which is an attribute of trolling. Sorry I misunderstood the tone. My telepathic powers must not be working today. Since I'm not familiar with the person who wrote it, and there are plenty of people who would post a "trolling" post saying something…
  • I cannot infer a tone to your response. As far as I know, as I don't know you, your response was serious. So I just pointed out that you might wind up in a different place if you voiced those views to female family members and friends IRL. :drinker: nope, skullshank, that would be an inaccurate assessment, but thanks for…
  • I dare you to tell your mother/sister/ female friend/wife/etc this. See what happens. Guys must not ever suffer from low testosterone either, because, you know, hormones. WTF-ever. Stupidity abounds on these boards, as do trolls. I sometimes gain, but sometimes the scale will actually go DOWN beforehand, then up a little,…
  • I've not been diagnosed with it, but this is some info I found when I Googled it: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001219.htm "You are more likely to have amenorrhea if you: Are obese Exercise too much and for long periods of time Have very low body fat (less than 15% - 17%) Have severe anxiety or emotional…
  • ^^ This. And... If that's you in your profile pic, and I'm guessing it is, how can you say that your legs haven't changed? They are visibly smaller in the picture on the right...
  • At 5'6" and 95 lbs, you're seriously underweight. You should probably see a doctor... And gain some of the weight back in a healthy way.
  • I had just gotten an update when this thread began & when I check the version, my Android has version 3.1 of the software. But there's another update available. Which I've not downloaded since having participated in this thread. :frown:
  • I just scanned in 10 blocks of Godiva dark chocolate (600 calories, 45g fat, 42.5g carbs, 10g protein). Nothing. Scanned a protein bar. Still nothing. I'm glad I'm not getting the messages and now have NO plans to perform future updates to the app. lol
