Sounds like the initial weight gain came off again? That often happens after a calorie increase if you are still under your TDEE. In regards to the deficit, I would still recommend a very conservative/moderate deficit, such as TDEE-20% which, assuming your TDEE is around 2000, would be around 1600 at the very least (gross…

Honestly I'm surprised it's not worse. I really hope they don't do a female one.

Good point, I don't actually know what "other programs" I was referring to, just that the concept of net calories seems to be specific to MFP. I do agree that understanding the basics of it is the most important thing as then you can really do it however works best for you. A lot of people don't care about…

First, 20 cals is well within the margin of error for calorie intake and expenditure. We don't know precisely enough how much we burn each day or how much we eat each day for 20 cals to matter. Second, MFP sets your goal based on how much you tell it you want to lose per week. Many people enter 2 lbs per week when actually…

For me it is satisfaction that I set out to achieve something and achieved it. Getting stronger, moreso than losing weight, has also given me more self confidence and a feeling of being "capable" that I did not have before. It's a work in progress obviously. I didn't have a lot of weight to lose -- there have been some…

I can tell you have worked very hard and seen great results, so congrats on your success. My understanding is that when you are very lean, eating at a calorie deficit can be detrimental. It sounds like you are not at a deficit if your weight has been stable for some time. I am also 5'4" and 125lbs with a higher BF% than…

I would get a Jungle Gym or TRX set.

There is a story in the news now about a 13 year old girl in FL who killed herself after a year of cyber-bullying including encouraging her to jump off a building (which she did). I guess the 24/7 access to pretty much anyone you want via social media and texting has made what used to be just regular playground bullying…

Great, thank you!

I hear what you're saying. I agree we need to take responsibility for ourselves, and I think it's awesome that you can make fun of these now. I guess they just strike me as really sad. But I can also take responsibility for myself and stay out of it if I feel that way. It's just not my first instinct. :flowerforyou:

I think the person is confusing micronutrients and maronutrients. A 200 cal shake may (?) contain the daily requirement of micronutrients but it doesn't contain 1500 calories worth of . . . calories.
-
Amen. I guess MFP does this because it wants to encourage people to exercise so they can eat more, but using this odd method in addition to not guiding people in how to choose a deficit does lead to confusion.
-
Not offended, just concerned. But I am obviously in the minority here.

I would hardly compare someone with a life threatening mental illness with people who are stalled in their weight loss in terms of how "triggering" an image can be.

I agree that it's not cool to post these.

I guess I didn't know what thinspo was until now. Dumb isn't really the word for it. 'Horrifying' comes to mind.

You might be interested in another recent thread on potassium. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1111309-sodium-potassium-dizzyness Apparently a lot of foods contain potassium but it can still be hard to get enough. Also hard to track here because it isn't listed in most things. Hope you get some answers from the…

It doesn't sound like you need to lose weight. ? The body can be very resistant to losing weight when you are already fairly light. If you want to look "leaner" and are willing to lift weights/strength train, lean recomposition is probably the way to go.
-
I was also very confused by this post. By the stats you posted, you should be able to maintain on much higher than 1500. And if those stats are accurate, setting your goal at a 1000 cal daily deficit is harmful to your health. Also, it should take months to go from 20% BF to 15% BF and it does not compute for me that you…

Awesome and congrats! You can really see a difference!

^^ what you said reminded me of research that has showed that if the mother is dieting or food restricted in pregnancy, the baby is more likley to develop obesity. The theory is that the fetus gets signals that food is in short supply so will be more prone to storing fat to counter this. This article discusses something…

Let it go.

I don't think anyone has said Cabin in the Woods yet. Joss Whedon. Also: Harper's Island.
-
Eh, scratch that, sorry. By attrition they just meant failure to stick with the diet. They do also say that the proportion that regained from each group was not significantly different.
-
Good article. For the purposes of this discussion, I think the relevant point in their findings is "Attrition was similar in VLCD and LCD regimens".
-
Big difference, definitely. I am probably one of those people who would say I saw a difference even if I didn't just so the person wouldn't feel bad, but in your case, there is definitely a difference! Nice work!
-
Wow, were your ears burning? I've not done any "challenges" before but I would think either starting a new group or adding it as a thread or series of threads in one of the bodyweight groups (which are not active at all) would both work. Then it's just a matter of sending out invites to the group and posting about…

You're a hard one!

I liked Damages too. The first season is probably the best. OTNB was awesome.

That's pretty much the conclusion I've come to also. I'm trying to lose a bit more by IF and calorie cycling so may alternate between that and IE if it works.
