Just moved to burlington from jacksonville fl. Are there any running groups here to speak of?

I was in the Navy on shoreduty stationed overseas. I got off of work and was about to go to bed when my neighbor rushed over and turned on the tv. I saw the first crash, sighed, then started getting dressed in my BDUs. Before I could finish dressing the MPs were at my door telling me I was being activated as a full time…

Hey a bunch of us Jacksonville people are in the " JACKSONVILLE FL RUNNING GROUP" . Don't let the name discourage you... we do our fair share of walking. We normally meet a few times a well to ruin, walk or bike.

At a place called Bfit over by Sams in orange park. There is a 24 day weight loss challenge which is what brought me to this.

Bootcamp = a class where the trainer puts you through a series of quick routines consisting of pushups, squats, pullups, short runs, situps, and jumping rope. They throw in some kettlebell weights to build some strength and the pullups are offset with resistance bands so you can actually do them. for example, last night I…

From today on for the next month I won't be doing any Tues/Thursday/Sat morning runs. :( Charles

Jacksonville (Orange Park)... we have a pretty decent running club made up of ppl from MFP if you'd like to join us. We have a group on here and we are running the Color me Rad run 5k next month.

Question..... are we going to be ordering enough to get a discount? If not, ill opt for a mans shirt :)
-
Hey check your roster for my name again. As far as shirts go I'm down with whatever you guys decide. I'M RICH BEEEATCH!!!!!

The fountain next to river city brewery is what I was referring to.
-
I'm out of town that weekend so no sportsbra for me :(
-
I'll be a few blocks away from the Riverside Fountain at 7AM on Saturday so I can join you guys for your walk at 715ish depending on where we are meeting.
-
No worries. I'm still coming since I don't plan on drinking (much). And if it were on Saturday I probably wouldn't be able to make it since I think I'm going to start doing the Jeff Galloway half marathon training program and they only run on Saturday mornings.
-
I should be able to make it but I'll be a bit groggy. I'm going to go see Charlie Murphy Saturday night. :)
-
damn... it didn't format correctly. tough to read.
-
All the cool kids. Me and Alicia will be there... not sure who else but all are invited of course.
-
We are running tonight at 7pm at Riverside. Meeting by the fountain.
-
The Y seems to be a reasonable alternative since it was along the path we ran yesterday anyways. What time are we looking at? May I suggest 8 AM?

Here's a link to a Runners World thread: http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/beginners/average-10k-times/5629.html At a quick read it the consensus seems to be a range from 45 min to 1 hr 30 min.

Properly fitted Brooks all the way! (get that gait checked!)
-
No worries I'm an 80's kid too. (although you are a tad older than me :D )
-
I'm very interested in group runs with you guys... When do you usually do them? I'd like to join you on Thursday if that's alright. ;) -Charles

I'm game as long as it makes me look pretty :)

You can get a decent oblique ab workout too by adding in a side stroke. I usually do 1 lap breast stroke, 1 lap side stroke, then 1 lap freestyle, break if needed, repeat. This is what I used to do when I was training in the Navy.

First Place sports has a weekly group run that ranges from 3-6 miles. I know the one in Orange Park is on Thursdays at 6pm. I like running out at Cecil Field though. I just moved here and haven't found anywhere else really.

In my experience, treadmills are deceiving because their distance isn't completely accurate when comparing yourself to running outside. So, what I do (I just finished the couch25k and moving onto a 10k) is set my treadmill goals in terms of time and not distance and then compare that with your actual 5k time when you get…

Hey, its a little off topic but is helpful for salads. I use these plastic salad containers made by Glad which comes with a snap in container for 1.5 oz of dressing. http://www.glad.com/products/food-storage/containers/glad-to-go-lunch/ I tend to overpour dressing thus destroying my calorie intake and this is perfect.…
