Got up this morning and it is starting to feel much better. Thank you Sam_I_Am and ESJones for your advice. @Sam, What do you do with the foam roller? I've never heard of these exercises. I will probably back off dead lifts for a little while yet or go back down on the weight I was using till my back is a bit stronger and…

Thanks for the replies guys. I don't have any symptoms of a herniated disk or such. I more feels like just a strained muscle. I'll keep talking to the doc and if it acts up again ill see about a MRI... Hate getting those though.

Thanks MrM27, What do you mean by compound lift like 5x5? 5 sets at 5 reps? Weight lifting noob here...

@ WBB55 about 9 lbs since 6/9. @ DR2501 To be honest, I hate cardio but it does a lot to get my heart rate up. I figured upping my resistances was a pretty good leg workout as it is. I have to be careful because I have a bad knee and problems with my back. I hate that kind of pain and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy so…

Just haven't had the drops in weight that I think I should. Not unhappy... Really just trying to stay on top of it and keep losing.

I had a lot of people message me about my how I'm doing this and maintaining my motivation. The first week my weight didn't move much but i could feel my pants getting looser and fat moving around. Then suddenly on my 2nd week my weight dropped 11 lbs. I stayed there for a another week then it has started dropping constantly since. Now, i have a lot to lose but from what I've read it takes 4 weeks for you to…

There are several good suggestions here. I think the letter to the owner and maybe the 3 of them might maybe some impact without changing my routine yet. I'm making good progress and not sure if changing how i'm doing things because of 3 twerps is a good choice yet. Thank you all for the suggestions. As for it being…

even if those dumbells & benches are taken up by these guys hogging the weights? they will literally take the pairs of 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50lbs dumbbells to their bench and switch off between whos lifting the different weights for up to or over an hour. I'm seriously going to take pictures of it on my phone next time it…

My wife goes in the evening so I'm stuck at home with the kids and can't leave. It is like anytime fitness but there is only 1 gym of theirs in town at this time. I heard they might build another but i'll hopefully be out of my contract with them by then.

I've always done my cardio first. I'm just used to doing it that way. As for new exercises, i tend to do several different free weights and machines. This is a small gym and they only have one pair of 30lb weights, 35lb weights, etc. They only have 1 straight bench and 3 adjustable. From what y'all are saying though is to…

well as much as I want to leave, i'm tied into a contract with them till next year. I have to find a way around these guys till i can pay to get out of the contract or find someone to take it over.

Why cut the cardio from my weight training when I'm trying to drop my weight down? Forgive my noob question. The couple personal trainers I've spoken with told me that cardio is what I need to focus on and some weights to keep my muscle up. As for an update, I went again yesterday and did my routine. I actually finished…

That could be from hitting the weights harder than i was previously. I'm not in any pain. I'll keep working on it.

@ Bun_ya: LOL, she sure as hell isn't getting married yet. I mean in another 30 years IF I don't send her to the convent first! JK @ _MG_: I workout the following schedule and try to break up both my weights and rest days. I do cardio every day though since its the bigger way to burn calories. Monday: Cardio Tues:…

"Ignore the scale and focus on your training." I like the one about weight loss and training being more of a mind game than physical one. That is so true. :)

You'll have to forgive my Noobness but I believe I'm using MFP and banking my net. I usually maintain about 3500 under my calorie goal for the week. I did almost hit 4100 under my net goal last week which made me quite proud. :)

I'm not an expert by any means but I've always done my cardio first so that my heart rate stays up during my lifting. I also do intervals when I run so my body continues to burn calories and I continue to sweat for at least 30 min after I finish my workout. I think everyone is going to give you a different answer on this…
