If you can I would recommend seeing a nutritionist first and let her or him set your calorie intake. My nutritionist found my weak spots and made suggestions. Try to find something healthy that resembles what your weakness is. If ice cream is your weakness, put some yougart cups in the freezer and have one of those instead. If you like salty, make some spiced nuts and keep them around.

I have been seeing a nutritionist and she recommended real butter as opposed to fake. Like you said, moderation. And the more real foods you eat the better for your body.
