  • Sometimes I wish they could talk. Then we would know whats up. I agree time to try a little dressage or just show flat until you figure out what is wrong. I do think the horses helped my daughter be a better person. She is still a handful and a moody teenager but not as bad as kids that don't have horses.
  • First - Don't be scared of the weights. You need to lift. You will like the changes you see in your body and I promise that you will not look like a man. Do you use a scale? I found a digital food scale was just what I needed to get the weight dropping off. Without the scale I was over estimating my portions.
  • doing it this way - you will keep it off. Great Job!
  • Welcome to our group. I was using a mounting block when I was around 230. Kept using it until I got under 200. Then my legs got stronger and I wasn't dragging the saddle off to the side and making the horse tip. My Chico is also 14.2 He is over 900lbs, closer to 1000. He carried me around just fine, but like you I just…
  • I can do a posting trot no stirrups during a lesson for about 10 - 20 minutes, depending on how tough the instructor is being. I could not do a two point or half seat without them. At least not a pretty one.. I think Chico would be okay for no stirrups. Scout is so easy going he probably would not care, but he is 3 and he…
  • I would like to try "No Stirrup November"
  • I will let you know next month. I am experimenting. It is the nerd in me, I can't help it. My hubby was given a bottle of fat burners. His heart problems do not allow him to take that kind of stuff. It was free so it doesn't cost me anything. I took the fat burner pill every morning for 30 days - per instructions. It has…
  • My injury is a torn meniscus not a back injury so my answer might not be right for you, but the elliptical machine was my best friend for the last 4 weeks. Even walking was hard for me to do, as long as my feet didn't have to lift I could workout. I really hope you will be okay. It is not fun coming off the back of the…
  • 6 small meals is important if you have diabetes, for people like my hubby it is good. Working out will lower his blood sugar, so he needs to eat. His job is physically demanding and that will also lower his blood sugar. If he eats a meal that is too large it spikes his blood sugar. I just eat when ever I want. sometimes it…
  • Thank you for the pictures. You are an inspiration. I am about the same, though I had a higher starting weight. It's nice to know we can change. I still see the fat person in the mirror some days.
  • You cannot spot reduce, but add weights to your workout routine. Not the little 5 pound weights, lift heavy. If you don't know what to do most gyms offer a one time free visit with a personal trainer. Dead lifts are my personal favorite because I get the major muscle groups. Squats are good for the tushy. Toning will help…
  • I was in the same boat 234lbs only lost 15 the first year, 20 the 2nd year. I tried increasing my workouts, decreasing my workouts, I hired a personal trainer, but I was still not loosing fast enough. I bought a food scale in January. I weigh everything and It has made a huge difference. This year I have lost 25lbs so far…
  • No excuses. I may eat chocolate, but I log it and try to stay in my calories. My workouts might be less intense the first couple of days because of a heavy cycle, but I still workout, I still log and I still stay in range to the best of my ability.
  • Guinness80 - I was thinking the same thing. I wonder when he will buck. He is young, I am expecting it.
  • Half seat would help me with my lower leg issues. I just don't have time to ride everyday.
  • I think most people eat back half. I use mine as I need them. Some days I don't use them at all.
  • I had the same problem, I wasn't loosing. Even gained 15 pounds last year. I bought a digital food scale in January. We cook everything at home. I log every thing I put in my mouth. I finally started dropping weight again. I only eat out once in a while. I bring it home and put it on the scale. I am not guesstimating…

  • You have every right to be proud. That is a great accomplishment.
  • That is great! Good for you, you should be very proud. I love the way I feel after a good ride. They talk about exercise endorphins, I have never felt those, but the endorphins from that perfect canter, or riding through a rodeo, or jumping a full course...those just can't be beat.
  • As mothers we tend to do that. My kids are finally grown and almost grown. It is finally time to concentrate on me. You can do it. Don't feel guilty, take the time to workout. Make food for yourself (hubby too). My youngest daughter often has to cook for herself because she doesn't want to eat what we cook.
  • I like protein snacks. Fat free cottage cheese and some fruit (usually pineapple)
  • I follow MFP and have had success doing it. Give it a try. PLEASE don't take this the wrong way. You are 109lbs and 5'2" - try lifting weights and toning your body instead of loosing 5lbs. You might be pleasantly surprised by the results. Squats are a girls best friend. You won't look like a man - I swear.
  • That is awesome. Congrats and may you never ever find it again! Thank you for sharing.
  • I weigh daily. I am not one that panics if the scale changes. I feel it helps me adjust my eating habits, or makes me realize I need to drink more water,
  • I did - I am one happy camper too. I rode Scout. My little 13.1hh gelding. He carried me with no problem. It was my first time on his back and he was a perfect gentleman. My daughter has done a good job getting him started. We just walked and trotted a little. I had told my daughter if I get on and his legs buckle I would…
  • thank you - looking forward to it. Just told hubby my plans today. He said to make sure I don't ride alone. I know better, but at least he cares.
  • Chico has had Chiropractors, massages, he goes to rehab to get laser and other therapy. I am the same. Never had a professional massage and rarely get a pedicure. The things we do for our horses. and they still like to make us worry. I hope your mare is okay.
  • Today is a great day to start. Congrats to you for beating cancer's butt. Feel free to add me as a friend. I don't eat a lot of processed foods either. We basically shop on the outside isles of the grocery store. Welcome to MFP
  • So Chico is going away to rehab for a month. I think I might just get on Scout's back this weekend and just go for a short walk around the property. 10 minutes max. Just to see how it goes. If I get on and his back bows I will get off immediately and wait until I am lighter.
  • We do all kinds of ground work. I have even started showing him in Showmanship classes. What holds me back is that this is probably the last horse I buy. He is 3, I am 42, if he lives to be 30 or more I will be in my 70's. Will I want to keep riding? I hope so. Will I buy another horse? Probably not since I would not want…
