  • Living in the City we are limited on our trails. Some barns have to trailer into the park. I am lucky that it is right at my gate. I wish I could of grown up riding on a farm. A friend of mine was telling me that when they were little they learned how to stay on the hard way, if they got bucked off the pony it was a long…
  • So true. I have to log what I eat in order to lose. I can over eat so easy. I have a desk job, so I need to make time for workouts. Have fun in Aiken.
  • I got my country horse past the ducks in the pond last night. We walked by the ducks, they moved into the water. By the time we got down to the palm tree on the trail the ducks started to fly over the fence. She spooked. I got her back under control and walked by the remaining ducks again and again. Then, because walking…
  • @crimsongrey Sounds like a beautiful day
  • @jcraig10 Sounds like a great show. Congratulations!
  • Good luck at your show this weekend jcraig10! glad you spoke to the trainer showjumper. now you can focus on your next show.
  • I finally got to ride last night. I have not been on the horse since New Year's Day. Proud of myself. My riding instructor came over and since I worked late and didn't have time to warm up the horse, I decided to stay on the lunge. (don't forget I am a timid - very timid rider) While walking the trail there was a lady…
  • @showjumper I wish I had some advice to give. I am a lot like Crimsongrey and moved away from the drama. I am a mother and the drama was affecting the happiness of myself and my teenage daughter. There was/is always someone that could not stand to see anyone succeeding more than themselves. I have my own little farm now,…
  • Be careful Snookb276. You may end up like me and have all kinds of gear for your grandkids, then have to shop for the perfect pony for them too. LOL My oldest granddaughter is 7. She loves coming to my house. I got home from work yesterday to find her outside sweeping the barn isle. I called her in, had a quick dinner then…
  • @Here4Cookies Unfortunately the birth was easy, but the pregnancy was not. Both still in the hospital. Hopefully they will be released tomorrow. That's okay though, I am having fun reading the stories you both shared.
  • You tell a great story. I wish I could say I have been riding. Unfortunately I have been babysitting instead. My oldest daughter just had another baby and I had to babysit the other small ones while she was in the hospital. I hope to get some saddle time in this week.
  • The beach is a 10 minute drive, but I only went 2 or 3 times in 2016. :( You really do need to use that vacation time though. Even without a beach nearby
  • My resolutions 1. Ride more 2. Lift more often at the gym 3. take more walks on the beach.
  • @jlyle73 My sister has a couple of those project horses that were meant to be sold. LOL. A fun job for sure. @Kidostud So cool that you are from South Africa. My mother lives in Bolivia. I know another woman through Facebook that is in Central America. I love learning how other countries differ in the care of their horses.…
  • Not in my local library. Sigh, I will have to go find them on amazon. If you are into show jumping and mysteries, I can recommend Tami Hoag's Dark Horse. It takes place in Wellington, Florida which is a big community built around horse's and horse shows.
  • Inquiring minds want to know? Romance? Mystery? I did enjoy the Jody Jaffe books as an adult. Chestnut Mare Beware In Colt Blood A Horse of a Different Killer She never wrote any more.
  • I want to see Harry and Snowman. There are so many, it is hard to pick a favorite. I read all of the Black Stallion books. Thinking of watching The Man From Snowy River again. Haven't seen if Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu offer it yet.
  • I was born in St Lois. My parents moved us to FL when I was 7. I played outside a lot as a kid. Don't remember much about MO except the leaves changing colors, sledding down the hill at the park and the grey snow in the playground at school. I went back to St Lois once in September for a wedding. My cousins wanted to go to…
  • I am a Florida girl, lucky to have my horses in my backyard. I grew up riding Morgan horses and showed saddle seat. In my 30's I met a very knowledgeable older lady that introduced me to dressage and everything I was missing when it came to communicating with my horse at the time. I have never jumped a horse. Not even by…
  • I went to bed hungry, the cookies may not have been worth it.
  • Riding lesson on Thursday. Looking forward to it. We are going to walk around the pond at the park. It is more about confidence building.
  • I am going to really focus on what I put in my mouth until the weekend. Then I will try to avoid the fats as much as possible, have more protein and carbs. Gym closes at noon on the 24th. I will be there. Dinner is at 3.
  • @cessi0909 I recently had that wake up call too. Originally lost 78 pounds. Gained back 28 and since I have been logging again, I have lost 1.
  • I lose faster when I have more protein, but find myself going overboard with carbs when I have a meltdown. I think I do better when I log everything that goes into my mouth and avoid high sodium foods as much as possible. Water is the most important factor for me. I drink it, I lose. I don't drink enough, I don't lose.
  • Lift now. I regret putting it off. My plan was similar to yours.
  • You say you want to look slimmer, but don't mind if the scale doesn't move. Have you considered strength training? You will never look masculine without the help of steroids, so don't be scared of the weights. You will like the way your body looks. To build muscle you must eat. 2 bananas and a pack of crackers. I hope that…
  • I tried to ignore the scale, but I feel like it really keeps me honest. I realize that it fluctuates, but when I pay attention to it I can adjust my meal plans and workouts accordingly. When I ignored it, I gained 4 pounds in 12 weeks.
  • I am 5"1' and now weigh 183lbs. I started off at 234. I don't know if I fit in to what you are looking for, but I like supportive friends. Any of you please feel free to add me if you want a supportive friend.
  • Got 4 trips to the gym done this week. Even went last night after my granddaughter's Christmas pageant. It was late, but I stayed an hour. Cardio and core. Went home and straight to bed. Tomorrow hubby and I will be going to the gym in the morning so that makes 5. Managed to get on my mare once this week.
