http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/23912-links-in-mfp-you-want-to-read-again-and-again Look at the posts on this list...especially "the answers to the questions" I promise there's tons of information here, most of it more thoroughly sourced and documented, but the gist is going to be that you're not feeding your body…

Unless you're using the dreaded calipers they used on us in middle school, or a machine that specifically measures your body fat percentage. BMI is a loose estimate at best. While I think it's important to not just lose weight, but to do it in a healthy way, I think focusing on eating healthfully, exercising, and enjoying…

Feel free to add me, I'm here most days logging and usually scroll through my news feed to look for successes and questions.
-
I agree with getting a pedometer and wearing it. Some of them are so small you can hook them to your bra, so no one even knows its there....or there are some that look like a watch.
-
Add me if you like. I've been through the "off the wagon" cycle a few times myself.
-
Yep. Read. Reevaluate. Research. Try a different approach if what you're doing isn't working. Stay positive.
-
you're welcome to add me if you like. I'm here most days. Hiya! Have fun here, it's a great tool.
-
I've been here for years off and on. I'm back full force this summer to really make a life-style change. I'm here most days logging, feel free to add me.
-
yep. This is how I do it. For salads and smoothies too.
-
Welcome! It certainly helps me to know that friends might be peeking at my food diary to motivate me to make good choices. Feel free to add me if you'd like.
-
Yay for finals and your first apartment! Feel free to add me as well, I'm working hard to get into shape before school starts in the fall.
-
I'll be a teacher in the fall....not that it makes a huge difference to weight loss. :) Welcome, and feel free to add me if you'd like!

My goal is 4 days a week. I add a fifth if I'm feeling strong or feeling a little out of control of what I'm eating. I'm more disciplined when I work out, and actually less hungry. I think it's a psychological thing-- I don't want to undo all that hard wok with unhealthy stuff. I try not to take more than one day off at a…

Calorie dense foods....nuts and nut butters.....I agree full fat everything dairy....olives....avocados.....I'd make a trail mix with nuts and dried fruits. Eat more often even if you only eat a little bit. And I'd talk to your doctor or a nutritionist if you're really concerned.
-
Bump... this is an old post but a good one.
-
Ha! This cracked me up. I'm so using "Faturday". I've definitely done it...just stopped logging on a day that goes off the rails, or not logging on a day when I'm intentionally taking a break from calorie counting. My goal this time around is to log everything no matter how ugly it gets...to keep myself 100% accountable.
-
Welcome...it's good to log what you're really eating, it's a wake up call. Don't make the mistake SO many make and restrict your calorie intake to the point where you're starving. Read some of the "for newbies" posts under the "general diet and weight loss questions" thread on the message boards. It will answer a lot of…

Hey, you can do it! Start by just keeping track of everything, even if you're over in your calories. You'll start to see pretty quickly where your problem areas are. I don't currently travel for work, but I've been there. I'd say don't be too self conscious to go to the hotel gym! Especially if you spend hours sitting in…
-
I plan, plan, plan. And once in a while I throw it all out the window and have a day where I don't track anything. (Once a week, or every ten days if I'm not losing at all) This has worked for me in the past. This time around I'm logging my "no count" days even though I don't plan to stay within a set number of calories.…

I'm not that concerned about whether or not people log in. I have defriended a couple of people that sustain/support unhealthy habits like consistently not eating enough/starving. Other than that it just doesn't matter to me if they hang out on my friends list.
-
Actually READ the "for newbies" posts that are "sticky" at the top of the general weight loss questions section. I see threads with the same questions over and over and over and over.... Spend a little time learning about the process, and make some choices about how MFP will support you to meet your goals. You cannot…

Ha! I love this so much. Way to go you!

I usually allow for some "treats" without going over my daily calorie limit. Some days I really need a cupcake. It may mean that I have to cut back on something else, or plan some extra exercise, but it keeps me sane. One day a week I don't place any restrictions on my diet, including calorie intake. I don't go hog wild…

I'm so used to facebook I read all your posts and then look for a "like" button to click on. Love all the motivated and ambitious goal planning for summer, can't wait to see what we all can accomplish. :)
-
I do best when I set a series of clear reachable goals that will help me reach my ultimate goal, and I find it's important to be accountable, and MFP makes that easier. feel free to add me if you're looking for friends. :)
-
Absolutely, feel free to add me.
-
Yay!! So happy to see others with goals they want to achieve this summer. Bike races and Power 90 and pounds off and yoga! I know we can all do it, I hope you'll check back in once a week or so. Feel free to add me to your "friends" list if you want an extra someone cheering you on.

this is the best thread I have read on how to avoid plateauing http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/20343-how-i-have-avoided-plateauing-length-warning

Excellent! Bring on July 14!

Just start somewhere, even if it's just recording everthing you eat for a week or so without altering anything. Or cut out one thign you know is bad for you, or add walk or some exercise you're not doing now. You can do it Feel free to add me, i you'd like.
