What are your goals in the next three months?
I'm back to being a fully dedicated MFPer after a long break. I just finished a second bachelor's degree in preparation for a major career shift, and I'm headed for grad school in the fall. The last two years have been great for me intellectually, but my body has taken a hit. I've got about 80-100 lbs to loose, but I want…

I'm New....Again
So I'm back to logging regularly at MFP after two years of barely checking in. I've been being a college student, and for better or worse my weight became the last of my priorities. I just finished a second Bachelor's degree, and I'm starting a Master's program in the fall. I'm committed to reorganizing my lifestyle this…

Small Successes are my motviation
So, this summer and fall were tough, I was unemployed, trying to decide what to do next, and eventhough I had lots of free time to exercise, I also had lots of free time to cook and eat. All that free time coupled with the mild depression of trying to decide what to do with my life erased the small gains I'd made since…

ten minute miles
I've been feeling like I needed to up the intensity on my cardio. In the past I've averaged about 12 minute miles on the elliptical (I can't do the treadmill because of all the pins in my ankle) so I really concentrated on my workout today and got down to 10 minute miles. Yay progress!

back at it after a slacker week
Wow, I didn't realize how hard it is to hold to a healthy diet when you have company. I had a friend in town for the week of my birthday, and it seemed like no matter how much i planned healthy meals I either ate too much, or drank too much :drinker: :noway: Anyway, I'm back on the wagon, both with my calories and with my…

sugar in whole foods
So this week I changed my Food diary to show me the sugar in things that I'm eating, and it is continuously over my "target" each day. The sugars that are adding up are not processed sugars, or even sweeteners, mostly it is from fruit and veggies. If I do use sweeteners its a little honey or maple syrup. So my question is:…

first five down!
It was measurements day at the gym...bleh...but here's the good news. I was down five pounds in the last month, and a huge percentage of that was body fat. I had actually gained about a pound of lean muscle mass. The cardio + strength training is really going to pay off if I keep it up. I had lost one inch in my waist, and…

Pesto Trapanese....this is so Good!
I watched this recipe being made yesterday and got stuck on it. so I made it last night, and it was fabulous! The flavors are strong enough that whole wheat pasta would still work great. Lidia Bastianich's Pesto Trapanese. (makes about 8 servings, serving size about 1/4 cup.) ¾ pound (about 2-1/2 cups) cherry tomatoes,…

Two days and counting...
I logged onto this site a couple of days ago because I did a search in google for a calorie counter and this came up. I have been using food diaries for a while now to keep track of my eating and help me with losing weight. I have just recently re-commited to getting down to my goal weight. I broke my ankle a little less…
