Perhaps he should be tested for diabetes? ETA: just saw the new diagnosis...that's much better news! Glad it's easy to treat! I have a dental appt. today, then I am free for the weekend! I should probably fill the car with gas and maybe make a stop at the craft store just to browse. I also have some forms to fill out prior…

I do this with the AdvantEdge Carb Control Chocolate Fudge ready-to-drinks...I'm not a big breakfast eater, so this stands in until about 10 a.m. when I have my first meal.

There is a lot of self hate and loathing in your OP. Best of luck...

I am Mom to a vegan teen and eat vegan MANY days of the week in support. I'm here to tell you there is not ONE green thing in the vegan butternut pasta dish (the recipe calls is Vegan mac n cheese, but I'm not QUITE ready to do that!) I am making for dinner tonight! I was vegetarian for YEARS and still on the voluptuous…

good morning! Both my girls are taking summer college courses, so I have to share my car! Today that means I am home bound. Not a problem; I have plenty to keep me busy including working on my scrapbooks. Scrapbooking is another hobby I enjoy and having been away the last few weeks I haven't had a chance to work on it in…

I'd like to join, too....newly 50 (one month ago) and back to MFP to drop the 30 pounds I gained in the last few years. My name is Marilyn; I am an at home wife and parent living in the desert southwest. I love my English Bulldog Boo Radley and SCUBA diving. Off to read...

If you think you only dump on "prohibited foods", you are wrong!! I have dumped on greek yogurt. Yes, you can MINIMIZE your chances of negative side effects and complications by following the program, but it is NOT a guarentee. It's easy at 2 months/6 months/one year to say "I will never eat xyz again" or "I will never do…

"but if u use the band to ur advantage you will lose weight.. " Yes, but like all tools sometimes they don't do the job as intended. The friends I mentioned in my previous post did the work, followed their surgeon's guidelines, tried their best......and yet they did not lose the weight. I think it's unfair and honestly…

I frequent another WLS website; and the success of the bandsters there is VERY LOW. Many have so much difficulty, they never find the "sweet spot" (adequate fill), or they suffer from constant vomitting and want to have the band unfilled or removed. My neighbor who was self pay decided on the band instead of bypass because…

I think once you pass the third day hurdle, it gets easier. The cravings, at least, should get better. Good luck.

As a lifelong Catholic, I was always taught that Lent ended when the Mass of the Lord's Last Supper (Holy Thursday) started; Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Saturday are collectively called the Triduum and are celebrated separate from Lent and the Easter season (which starts with the Easter vigil on Saturday). I gave…

I'm still here, tracking Monday thru Friday and usually taking the weekends (esp. Saturday) off. I'm not necessarily taking "off" from my eating plan but I find I need a break from the constant writing down of every thing that goes in to my mouth...it keeps me sane. As I get closer to being back at the low end of my goal…

Stay off the scale!! The weight did not appear overnight; nor will it "disappear" overnight. TRUST THE PROCESS!!
-
I don't believe it's a good idea to go into a workout starving. Have a small snack on your way to the gym.

That is really harsh coming from a fellow WLS person......were you too "lazy" to do anything about YOUR weight? I think it's very unfair to classify someone as lazy because they are obese. I won't debate the rest of it....WLS 10 years ago allowed me to lose 120 pounds, which I have maintained. Occasionally, around the…

I think I need to change the time of day I go for my walk because I keep running into neighbors and chatting!!

Stay off the scale!! Trust the process, follow your post op plan and you WILL lose weight. What exactly do you hope to accomplish, other than discouraging yourself, with such frequent weighing? I used to be a daily weigher; I cannot TELL you how much more pleasant my experience has been since I broke myself of that habit!…

A few thoughts: If you are eating only 600-800 calories at two years post op, you are definitely not eating enough, wrecking your metabolism and likely causing long term damage to internal organs like your heart. I am "one of those" who believes that we DO train our bodies to exist on a certain number of calories, within…

I never eat them all; at most, I eat about 1/2. I find that works for me. ~~Marilyn

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO STOP WEIGHING YOURSELVES EVERY DAY!! YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY GAIN 4 POUNDS OF FAT IN SUCH A SHORT TIME!! (yes, I know I am shouting.....)

I love that XOchocolate!

Doing pretty well here....doing a whole lot of nothing, which is great but can also seem like a time waster. Got myself a fitbit and using this week to see exactly where I stand (ha ha) with the whole "10,000 steps" thing....I am falling painfully short. Will attempt more walking next week when kids are back in school.…

I adore the Atkins Caramel Peanut Cluster Bars: 140 Calories, 3g carb, 9g fat, 8g protein, 5g fiber. Very much a quick on the go snack.

Don't like whiskey; make it a cold brew and I'm THERE!!

As little processed food as possible. Local sourcing for as much of my food as I can, including grass fed beef, chicken raised on a pecan orchard and free range chicken eggs too. Organic when I can/can afford. Whole foods, as close to their original state as possible. Lots and lots of "home cooking"; little convenience…

Chicken thigh, red potatoes, green beans and carrots and a banana. 439 Calories. Most of my meals are around 400 Calories. I will have a snack before bedtime of 200 or so calories. My daily intake is right around 1500.

My clothes DEFINITELY fit better. I can actually wear button up pants now for more than an hour or two; before, with the roll of skin and my scar rubbing (it was used three times...once for my open bypass, once for my petersen's hernia and once for my bowel obstruction; so I had it revised) it was so uncomfortable.…

Me too. As a general rule I do not log on the weekend. At breakfast and lunch I eat very similarly to how I eat during the week; that is to say, a protein-forward meal that is around 400 calories. I may or may not have a snack mid-afternoon around 200 calories. Then, at dinner is when I break from my "usual" mold. I will…

I have lost all respect for Dr. Oz. I used to think he was knowledgeable and had peoples' best interests at heart; now, I think he is a supplement salesman. If I had one piece of advice for Dr. Oz it would be this: get back to the OR before you lose EVERYONE'S respect.....INCLUDING YOUR OWN!

I did not see the show. However, I can attest to the fact that PS is a MUCH harder recovery than gastric bypass. I have had many surgeries AND natural childbirth and I'd rather have another baby with no anesthesia than go thru my tummy tuck again!!
