I've lost 25 lbs in the past year and I'm keeping it off. I averaged 1/2 pound per week. It was depressing at first but now looking back I'm glad it took a year. It took that long to figure out what works best for my body. You have your whole life, don't rush it!!!!

Everything I've read and what I heard from my own doctor say that under 1200 calories is putting yourself in starvation mode. Which means your metabolism will slow down drastically because it wants to hold on for dear life because it's just not enough food.

I also suffer from severe S.A.D. What works for me is using a white light (therapy) for 30 minutes each morning. I eat breakast in front of it then use my laptop for the rest of the time. I get weighed every Saturday morning during our support group. It makes me eat light Friday evening and Saturday is my cheat day. I have been very successful for the past 8 months! On Saturdays I treat myself and don't count calories. Good luck!

I lose at a very slow pace but I don't let it discourage me. I've lost 12 lbs. in 4 months. As long as the numbers keep going down I'm happy. It's not important how fast you lose. The important thing is being at a healthy BMI and Maintaining it. It's a lifelong journey! :)

I make my own pizzas with Pita bread. The whole family loves them and you can make it healthy. Choose lots of veggies, some chicken, salsa as your sauce etc... and broil until ready!
