I'd log the 5 calories and if you only get 3, it is a couple extra calories to the good. I log everything with a little extra - if I estimate it is a piece of chicken breast close to 1-1/2 packs of cards (4.5 oz), I'd log it as 5oz. It gives me a little extra towards the bottom line.

I eat anything and everything. If I start saying "I can't have ****' then any changes I make to get healthier wont work for me. I log foods as the calories in them, I do not consider how many calories it takes to digest the food. If it takes more to digest then it will help ensure weight loss if I log everything as a positive calorie as I will eat less of other foods.

I found daily weigh in too discouraging - i seem go fluctuate a lot. I am aiming to weigh myself once a week on Monday morning after a bathroom break, but before my first coffee.

not usually active on the forums but I am back to trying to log my foods daily. silence usually means I'm being bad eating. hear you on the friends disappearing. I'm down to one active friend who helps me keep it straight.

I had plain basmati rice and skinless boneless chicken thighs cooked in tikka masala sauce with onions & fresh white mushrooms.

I try to find something similar and add about 15% more calories. I found that usually gives me little wiggle room.

My biggest shocker was a lot of foods labeled 'no' or 'low' fat / sugar. The salt content in some were almost 50% greater. My doctor recommended under 2,000 for me. Welcome. I knew I ate badly when I joined in January, but it is very surprising how much you can go over with even seemingly healthy options. That is what surprised me the most - just what was my caloric killers. Good luck on your journey to a healthier life. :o)
