I have read a lot about this and a lot of it is not fixed by fancy shoes and inserts but actually strengthening your feet. Check out this article. There is a lot associated with barefoot running and other things you can do to help. http://www.marksdailyapple.com/flat-feet-treatment/ Good Luck.

Each brand has its own unique way of calculating calories. Polar has been known to be the most accurate. Things you want to look for are: 1. A chest strap that will continuously monitor your heart rate 2. That it is coded so not to have interfering signals 3. It has the functionality you need. I found that is was better to…

There is no good way to target weight loss in any one area. I found that some of the belly flab after pregnancy was loose muscle that just needs to be tightened up. It is also true that some people just store fat in different locations than others. What worked for me was to stick to the food diary calorie amounts, log…

Most commonly I have seen Body Bug as being the most accurate. When I have looked into it, I thought it was too expensive.

Track inches too. Sometimes you are loosing fat but gaining muscle so the scale doesn't move. Don't be overly scale focused, it helps to use the measuring too.

Someone gave me an idea once I really liked. For every minute you exercise each day, give your self 1 peny in a jar. Keep building it up until you have enough for a HRM. It will keep you motivated to work out (for money  ) and will get you a HRM on a budget. Good Luck.

Yikes. That's crazy.

BMR - How many calories a day you are burning by just having your organs work. I have always looked at this as the min amount of calories I should eat a day. I trust the MFP number because it has worked so well for me but there are a lot of different ways of calculating this. BMI - An equation that gives a "scale" as…

 Welcome to MFP. I used to live in NH. Great job for getting motivated when it is still cold.

Congrats on getting to maintenance. I am glad the first week went well for you. I have been in maintenance for about 1 year now, and I love staying on here to motivate people and keep on track. I find sometime I gain a couple, then are more diligent and can loose a couple. Great job:flowerforyou:

I agree completely. Running is great and a lot of fun. Everyone starts somewhere. I couldn't do much when I first started running either. You quickly forget about others and just focus on the activity. Check out Couch to 5K as a beginner program to get you started. Good Luck and Enjoy!

I like this one too. In the mini size though.

My daycare does Parents night out. They charge $20 for 3-4 hours.

I would try eating a bit more. You want to try to avoid going under 1200 net calories a day. Good Luck.

My favorite is a loose leaf called Tie-Guan-Yin, and I buy it at: http://www.nmteaco.com/Tie-Guan-Yin_p_171.html However, I also really like Trader Joe's green tea with mint. The thing most people don't like about green tea is it can be bitter. That only happens if it is brewed with water whose temperature is too hot. It…

If you make your food diary public, we might be able to offer you some suggestions. Are you way under your calorie goal each day. It may sound strange, but you may not be eating enough to loose weight.

I have not found that applesauce was a good substitute in this recipe. I love the corn bread, but I have dealt with the calories it already is at. I have not found a way to make it less calories and still taste good.

Depends on the shoes and amount of continous use they get. I tend to replace mine about every 250 miles.

My ankles used to hurt me a lot and I found out I was fighting my shoes. I run as a forefoot striker and my shoes were trying to force me to heel strike. Try switching to a less controlling shoe. As far as the galloway method, I know this works for a lot of people. Not me. Once I stop I have a really hard time convincing…

From what I have read in many nutrition books is that low carb diets will allow you to loose weight. However, a lot of that weight is from loosing muscle mass. Also, when eating a lot of protein you have to make sure to drink a lot (I mean a lot) of water to get rid of the extra your body doesn't use. It may work, but I…

I have a sprint HTC Hero. I love it.

If barefoot is not ideal for you, use water shoes. Gives you flexibilty and feel but won't damage the skin.

I love listening to Pandora rock station on my phone. Always a new mix.

I have done a bunch and these are my tips: 1. Try to do a good workout in the morning to get some extra calories. 2. Avoid alcohol or get one glass of wine and sip it all evening (people never notice or ask if it always looks full) 3. If it is a buffet I fill most of the plate with salad, get whole wheat rolls and only…

Isn't that why we work out? So we can eat more. I have always eaten all my exercise calories and I have never gone below 1380 calories a day.

I like: Crunch Studio's Boot Camp Power Yoga for Runners from the Ashtanga institute.

No problem. Enjoy.

The chest strap to is to continously monitor your heart rate while you workout. If you get one that doesn't have one it only checks your HR when you push a button, so it doesn't see all the fluctuations your body might go through during a workout. You wear it around where the bottom of your sports bra goes and the one I…

Online, I find them cheapest at overstock.com and amazon.com. Polar brands are the most accurate. However, what is really important is that it has a chest strap.

When I first started loosing weight I used to wake up so hungry I was dizzy. I started having lean lunch meat before going to bed and a string cheese and that helped a lot.
