I would recommend picking up a book called "ChiRunning" or "ChiWalking" and work on form. I had back issues for a while but come to find out that is where I was feeling the pain but not where the issue is coming from. I had some major form issues. I took up minimalist running and worked on form. Running minimalist is not…

Polar is known to have the most accurate calculation for calories burned. However, what you want is one where you enter in height, weight, and has a chest strap. Good Luck.

Migraines are not uncommon food allergy reactions. It might be anything inside the diet soda. If you can I would also suggest not having any soda for a while. Stick to water, juice, tea and coffee. See if it helps. Good Luck. I know how much the suck.

I agree with others. Wait to see what the ortho says. Then ask about biking or swimming. Depends on the type of injury you have. Good Luck.

 I love New Mexico.

My must have is a stability ball. Great for stength training.

I use it too, but in small quantities. This is what I found on eatingwell.com Until December 2008, stevia and its derivatives could be sold in the U.S. only as dietary supplements, due to safety concerns. In the 1980s, animal studies linked stevia with adverse effects on fertility and reproductive development and possible…

What a wonderful page. It is tough to loose someone so young. Thank you for posting.

Although there is a possibility that you are burning more, it is not likely the case. Our bodies are programmed to want to eat more during colder months to store fat as an insulater (keep warmth in). In the summer we tend to want to eat less when we are hot since we want to shed the insulation. Try dressing warmer and it…

I wouldn't go overboard just yet. If you are unaccustomed to running, your feet may need to get stronger along with other parts of your body. Try it out a few more times before worrying about specific shoes or insoles.

Mine comes out very different. I think it does take into account your weight or BMI.

Glad it went well. So with all the can't do's, what is the lineup of movies?
-
Good Luck and I wish a speedy recovery.

Try find healthier ways to deal with the cravings. Try having a vegi burger and sweet potato fries, for example.

Egg noodles, mixed with scambled egg whites, green chili and a little cheese.

1. You want a HRM that has a chest strap and you can enter in your personal information. Garmin and Polar the most preferable brands. However, there are other ones out there that would work fine. Since you workout alone at home you don't need to worry about one that is coded to prevent against interferance. 2. I don't…

I have heard doing yoga or taking a bath before bed can calm your mind. I have also heard setting two alarms 5 minutes apart, will help you rest without worrying about getting up. Good Luck.

I was training for a half marathon and after running 19 miles a week for 6 months was increasing mileage when I injured my knee. I have been down for 6 weeks now and won't be able run my half marathon in 4 weeks. However, (cue kermit the frog singing somewhere over the rainbow) I will get back out there soon.

If you want the health benefits of honey you want to use raw honey. If you just want a nice healthy sweetner, then agaves work well too.

Sounds like an excelent plan. Recovering from hernia surgery is slow, and if you don't take your time it will come back with a vengeance. However, the goals seem realistic and having a purpose makes the time go by faster. Great job. My goals don't sound all the different. When my aunt was 35 she died of cancer. In two…

If you are really interested in getting the most out of your HRM, you might consider something like this. Heart Monitor Training for the Compleat Idiot [Paperback] John L. Parker Jr. (Author)

Yes they are. Resting HR is assuming you have not moved at all and have been still and quiet for at least 30 seconds. Start HR is when you have been walking around some. If you are too cardio tired, your HR will shoot up really fast from your resting HR. If you are not cardio tired, then your HR will gradually increase.…

The formula for max hr (that I use) is 206.3-(0.711*age). If you are 42 that is a max HR of 176. If you are over the max HR for long periods of time, that would be overtraining. If your average is 168 then you are in a zone where you would be improving your cardio. It is important to take a day of at least 1 per week to…

If your knee is bothering you that much, I would recommend getting some PT too. It might help with anything that caused the sudden irritation and they can give you good ideas on exercises to do.

I find it near fancy cheese's and meats too. Sometimes near the deli counter or bakery area. My favorite is guacamole hummus.

Food scales are great help for loosing weight. I got really tired of couting 25 crisps, now I can just weigh 28g. Besides how do you count the broken ones? Do you stand there and put them together like a puzzle before you count them. If so maybe I would loose interest and not eat them in the first place. hmmm. :) Great job…

My 4 year old and husband love zombie stuff. I tollerate Zombie movies. Shawn of the Dead - Funny and hard to take serious Orginal "Night of the living dead" - Creepiest movie Zombieland - Also kind of silly. Planet Terror - Just plain fun. Haven't seen the new tv series. I don't really have time for TV so I don't even…

Thanks. I know I have felt better since switching to using stevia or a little bit of honey as a sweetner.
-
Yes. Almost all if not all and sometimes I would go over after long runs if I was still hungry.

I have reached my goal, but when I was loosing and running long distances I did make some adjustments. I used the recommendation I saw on MarathonRookie.com and other websites to switch to 60% carbs/25% fats/ 15% protein. I also switched to only 1lb per week loss. I always do my runs in the morning so I make sure I don't…
