I have a polar FT6 that I wear while cycling and when I am on an elliptical trainer. It is not perfect, but it is more accurate than the MFP database for me. It averages 150 -175 calories less than the database, and about 50 cals less than the elliptical trainer.

I'm 61 and I cycle 15-20 miles daily, and sometimes 25-30 miles. All my stats are great. I'm 4'11" and net about 1400 cals daily. Please add me if you are physically active, and have open food and exercise diaries. Please -- no VLCD's (very low calorie diets).

This, and I love French (white asparagus) C'est magnifique.

In your first post you identified a couple of changes that you have made. That's good. If you read a number of the success stories many people started where you are, oftentimes with lots more weight to lose. Some dreaded being seen in public, even walking, some bought gym memberships then sat in the car working up the…

don't let clothing sizes derail you. You're a lovely looking young woman. Choose comfort and styles that you are confident in and enoy wearing.

I like the eating well web site already referenced. I also like allrecipes.com, which includes the nutritional data for the meals. I have the Forks Over Knives recipe book and their web site is also excellent. You can enter the recipe ingredients on MFP via the recipe tab when the nutrional data isn't available.

I'm 61 and am focused on fitness and weight management. I cycle 15-20 miles daily and in inclement weather, head for the gym. I played alot of sports in highschool and college, including field hockey. As a young adult I played tennis. Needless to say my knees took a beating over the years. In addition to cycling, I enjoy…

All the above, and the last paragraph best describe my use of a polar FT6 and MFP for cycling -- about 100 cals difference (MFP more)

Nice dinner. Also, sardines packed in olive oil or water (with or without skin or little legs) on top of the above. If you have room throw sliced apples and a tad of maple syrup together and bake in the oven for dessert.

I think this, more or less, reflects how my husband supports me. I view fitness and weight management as my stuff, and if he weighs in with an observation, that's fine, if not, fine with me too. I do appreciate his charming Bronx compliments though.

The folks from where you rent them will fit you with skis and poles based upon your weight and height, and in all probability the rental skis will be "waxless." Like any other winter sport, dress in layers. Use your poles to pick yourself up and for now, avoid slopes (unless you want to practice picking youself up!). You…

I cycle 20-30 miles daily either on flat terrain or hills on a road bike or a mountain bike I also ride a beach cruiser I suggest you buy a HRM (watch and strap). I have the polar FT6. The calories expended results are almost 100 cals less than MFP.

Cycling 6 days a week alternating between 60 minutes or 120 minutes. Eliptical trainer for 35 minutes if the weather is lousy. I've recently added weight training 3xs a week. I enjoy cycling and am building up to 50 miles daily. I am not a performance cyclist.

I have a polar FT 60 (strap and watch) which I wear when I cycle. The calories it shows I expend for cycling are on average 70 calories less than what is in the MFP database for the same effort/time. I think you will be satisfied with a watch and strap unless you are a data fiend.

I'm 4'11" and lost 14 of my 20 lb goal. My focus is fitness and weight management. You are welcome to add me, please read my profile first.

I used Endomondo for cycling . My overall impression was that the calories it showed for it were high. That was my gut/intuition. I always knocked off 25% of the caloric results. I did like it for recording the miles of my journeys though, and it does account for your age, weight, gender, and height so the algorythim…

I typically don't join into these threads, but this sounds like fun. I typically cycle 15-20 miles daily, 5 or 6 times a week. I am more or less a "fitness" cyclist as oppose to a performance cyclist. If the temp goes below 30 I exercise on an elliptical trainer. I ride in the rain, but not electrical storms. I have a…

In Maine (haven't seen it anywhere else -- yet) the female only "frying pan toss" are one of the most popular events at local fairs. "Toss" doesn't capture the essence of a black skillet flying through the air. Actions speak louder than words.
