  • You are extraordinary! You are fantastic! You are inspiring! You are fantastic! You are perservering!
  • I'm 4'11" and started a modified version of New Rules (I have arthritis in my lower back and knees and program outlined in the book assumes you haven't any orthopedic issues). I started on MFP at the end of January and initially lost 3 lbs on 1200 cals. I upped it to 1400 (which is probably still too low) and I gained over…
  • I upped my daily calorie goal, dropped back just a bit on cardio (went from 45 -60 min to 30 min including cool d0wn) and am following the New Rules for lifting weights. I broke through the plateau with a 3 lb loss
  • confidence/self-esteem with humility minus smugness is an attribute that is nurtured initially by your parents and other family members, and as you venture out into the world, by other adults (teachers for example) and your peers. I think one also acquires confidence through failure, i.e,when you don't do well, be it a…
  • Hi there! Scroll through the recipes thread/search on protein bars. I think even in the last coupla weeks there have been some good uns.
  • Yup! Thanks OP, but I will stick to the New Rules
  • My husband -- salt and pepper and white mustache. Just like a sly ol' tomcat.
  • I agree. I don't think the original intent of the "real women have curves" was meant as a put down of other sized/shaped women. I think it was meant more as a declaration or affirmation of as the poster above says, "we curvier broads have a little (feel good) catch phrase . .. " but never to disparage or be at the expense…
  • not to gum up the works here, BUT is this a recurring problem? If so, both of you can dig a drain around the perimeter of your home (dig down at least 3-4 inches below the frost line), add crush rock, install pvc pipe, cover pipe with said crush rock. Tamp down. THEN, paint the walls first with water sealant paint; and…
  • Hey, that's my Dad and his brother, George! Told them they should comb their hair before that pic was taken . .. and put their teeth in!
  • I put it on toast with a slice of tomato either for breakfast or as a snack. You can also use it as a substitute for recipes that call for ricotta cheese.
  • You could to see the Stones, the Beatles, the Doors for 3.50 - 6.00. Commodore 64s -yikes! Alot of break through TV programming from Norman Lear You still had to be careful, but you could pretty much hitch a ride somewhere with a couple of other kids.
  • I wear socks with little grippy things on em when I do yoga on the floor and I work barefoot on a mat. I have rotten knees so I always wear footwear to protect them
  • oops. I'll try again
  • Another one for outer thighs -- resistance band around your legs about mid calf. Sidestep to the left twenty, then sidestep to the right. Three sets, increase reps as you get stronger.
  • Awwww. That's really nice. Sounds like excellent role models. The first man in a girl's life is her Dad.
  • Excellent advice. I injured the 4th and 5th lower vertebrae from sports activities (well, ignoring the pain from a sport injury). I did PT for recovery. Hatha Yoga and pilates -- anything to gently strengthen your core. No recommendations on loosing weight fast though. Can't help you there.
  • Commerical Gym A: Large (formally a PATHmark grocery chain store) Overwhelmingly caucasian. Open spacious area packed with circuit training equip., large heavy weight lifting area , racket ball rooms, spin class room, baby/toddler care area/ juice bar, swimming pool, maybe a "yoga" studio tucked off in the rear somewhere;…
  • Pacific sock eye salmon, dolphin safe tuna, and sardines. You can get sardines skinless boneless packed in water or olive oil; but the sardines with their skins and little spines are better for you. I drink Designer Whey protein shakes. Check around the internet for better prices. I shop at Trader Joes, but you could…
  • You're an attractive young woman, and there are plenty of really great guys out there. not to sound goofy or corny, you might mix it up a bit -- pursue a new activity, maybe something you thought about and haven't tried. I think when men and women are having a good time it brings out the best in them and everyone just…
  • I eat mostly everything including smaller portions of sweets that I enjoy, and always include it in my diary. I do have a couple of "trigger" foods ( Trader Joe Maple Cookies and Coffee Ice Cream) that at least for now it's better that i not have them at all. I haven't any idea what it is about these two items. It's some…
  • I am two weeks into a modified version of the New Rules. You can add me. I ACTIVELY support my friends and expect the same in return. Specifically, critique of dairy /suggestions re exercise /training program. I deleted two individuals recently because they hadn't commented on my food or exercise diary. Otherwise, I am…
  • I dont think from the examples the OP posted that is was very difficult to tell the difference between constructive feedback/criticism and rudeness. Far from it.
  • Wish I could give both of you a big hug. Thank you for reminding me of love lost.
  • I recommend Haruki Murakami, but I don't know if he fits into any o f those genres. Bizarre things happen in his novels, but they are grounded in ordinary people doing ordinary things. Start with Kafka by the Shore, and tell me what you th ink.
  • Totally agree. I've never bothered to even introduce myself here. People post snide and snarky remarks even on that thread! And I don't buy the "welcome to the internet" excuse. I've been on other internet forums (political and historical)and there are many heated discussions and debates, the overwhelming majority of…
  • This is a fun Sat. morning thread! I have some slight variations on the same theme. I am originally from New England (Conn) and always referred to a "sub" as a "grinder" I pronounce "orange" "ahrange," and "idea" "idearah." Or "cahfeh" for coffee. Like the poster's spouse who is French, I have had something got lost in the…
  • I do cardio and weight training 3xs weekly. On non "workout" days, I ride my bike or walk for 30-60 minutes. I must admit, that riding my bike for sheer enjoyment seems like less "work" than being in the gym; and yes, I feel a little "antsy"; but I don't worry (or obsess) about missing a day or two. There are issues that…
