  • I held on to significant weight after each of my first few pregnancies. Looking back, I know I was using my kids as an excuse for not "having time" to exercise. And I told myself I had "thyroid issues" while stuffing myself with ice cream and Dr. Pepper on a daily basis.
  • Or, if you like cheese, just use less of it with other ingredients to fill the quesadilla. :)
  • Breakfast for dinner, maybe?
  • Congratulations! When are you due (if you don't mind me asking). I'm due with #9 in December, and I understand thinking ahead and wanting to make everything smooth as possible. I have some kids homeschooling and some in parochial school. It's tough getting used to a new routine after the baby, but you WILL survive. You're…
  • My toddler eats whatever the rest of the family is eating. Except, of course, when he won't. It can be hit and miss.
  • Your family doc or local health department should be able to help you find a nutritionist.
  • I've never been out with DH, I think it would make me crazy just sitting around all day, and I for sure would make him crazy, lol! We have a pretty good routine when he is gone, and especially during the school year we are so busy that the time goes quickly for us. Then we relax a bit for the days he's home. It's not…
  • Congratulations! I'm about 23 weeks along. :)
  • I'm 6', started at 220, got as low as 160, and 170 seems to be a comfortably sustainable weight for me (usually). I was about 130 as a young adult, can't imagine that now! Body composition and your personal physiology makes a huge difference with goal weight. It's probably safe to ignore folks that tell you that you've…
  • Congratulations on your baby girl. :) Trading out some less nutritious options for more healthful meals and snacks is a great idea. Counting calories and tracking weight at this point is maybe not. But if you are able to use the information for what it is, probably nothing wrong with what you're doing.
  • Hi, congratulations and good luck! Your best bet is probably to speak with your OB or midwife, or possibly a nutritionist who works with OB/GYN. I'm currently pregnant and have MFP set to maintenance, and I just don't sweat it if I go "over". But I've had a typical gain so far, an not a loss. Your doctor should be able to…
  • My DH is a flatbed driver as well. :)
  • I'm currently 23 weeks and also have a high risk pregnancy due to a few factors. This is what I'm doing for exercise: I do some basic strength training three days a week, and I walk just about every day. I have a fitbit, and I try to get at least 15000 steps daily. I do not have GD and I was used to working out before, so…
  • I trained for my first marathon last year, having never gone further than 10k. I felt the same panic when I first looked ahead in the training plan, too. I think it's really common to have a mental block about going past a certain mileage. For me, that number was 14 miles. For whatever reason, I was ok with building up to…
  • Calcium interferes with iron absorption, so consider that when meal planning. If you are anemic an iron supplement may help.
  • I quit cold turkey. It absolutely sucked at times. I mean, I was digging through my garage hoping to find a butt I could get a couple of drags off of. After about a month I stopped really craving it, after three or four months I felt like I could turn one down if it was offered. If you really have to quit cold turkey (no…
  • Hi, Kristi! Congratulations!
  • Good luck! I started losing weight after my sixth, maintained for the last five or so years even after having a couple of more babies. It's funny to me now, how I always blamed the pregnancies, but never the fact that I was sedentary and ate/drank "junk" food all day every day. I hope you are off to a healthy and…
  • No! No, no, no! Regardless of what your goal is, regardless of what you've read or been told, cleanses, detoxes, and fasts like this are disordered and unhealthy. You feel sick because that is a normal physical response to not eating. You will binge (eventually) when you come off it, because that is a normal physiological…
  • Hi there. I started working to lose weight in my 30s, after my sixth baby. Some of the kids go to private school now, but I was homeschooling at the time. I started with Leslie Sansone videos- literally just marching in place for about 15 minutes a couple of times a week. Eventually moved to weight lifting and…
  • Hello all! I'm due in Dec. with baby number 9 (not a typo, lol!). I'm logging daily and would love to have friends who are also expecting.
  • That's tough. Do you have a lunch hour or other time during the day that you can use? Some good suggestions above. I often go for walks with my kids, or just do weights at home and try not to trip on them. It's frustrating, but this is a season in life that will pass fairly quickly. Good luck!

  • I'm turning 39 in November. Your diet is where you will lose or gain weight, exercise is what will help you feel and look better. If walking isn't practical, what else can you do? There are body weight exercises that can be done literally anywhere. Maybe there is an activity you can enjoy on weekends, even if you…
  • Congratulations! Tips, since you asked... Three weeks is not enough time to recover from pregnancy and birth. Forget weight loss for a while. I don't know you or your situation, obviously, but losing 34 pounds in less than two months with a newborn does not sound like a healthy goal. Just getting enough sleep with a new…
  • Most of the time I do not eat before exercise. Exception is that I have a banana before my long Sunday runs if I expect to take longer than 60 to 90 minutes or so.
  • I run on the country roads where I live. Out here everybody is expected to wave to everybody else, whether we be walking, biking, driving, or just standing outside. It adds to the "quaint" I guess.
  • I'm relieved to know I'm not old fashioned or crabby, LOL (I'm 37)! I wanted to make sure that was still the norm. Obviously, gifts aren't sent for the purpose of receiving a thank you, but the only reason I even know they got the package is because they cashed the check. At first I thought "busy" and then I thought…
  • I tell my kids all the time which one is my favorite.
  • I got married at 18. We will celebrate our 19th anniversary in a few weeks. My first ring was from Sears. Lol! I lost it a few years ago, still sad about that. :-(
