Rest week/ deload
Do you ladies regularly plan time off or for deloading across all lifts? What does that look like for you?

Back progress
First pic was about a month before starting SL. In April my 9th baby was four months old. I've lost 18 pounds and about 15 total inches. I love this program!

Kettlebell question
I hope it's ok to post an off topic question, but I've seen that a few of you use kettlebells. I'd like to get one, but I'm not sure how to know what weight to get. I've done a couple of kettlebell workouts with a 20# dumbbell with no problem. Do you think I should start with a 20# kettlebell, or a bit lighter or heavier?…

Hi, new to the group
I just found this group! I've been doing SL since mid-May. I haven't been strictly consistent with it, and also deloaded on squats a couple of times just to really work on good form and rom. As of now my best for each lift is: Squat- 95# Bench- 75# Row- 85# OHP- 65# DL- 175# (3 reps) My current weight is 178lb at 6'. If…

I need to do grocery shopping
But I can't until tomorrow night... So, what can I do with a can of mackerel? Does it have to be boned like canned salmon? And why do I even have it? I sure don't remember buying it!

Lent 2016
I thought it might be nice to have a thread for support and discussion for the season of Lent. I've decided to focus on fasting this year because this is the first time in forever that I'm not pregnant and/or breastfeeding. So I have no excuse! Rather than starting out super strict and wimping out toward the end, I'm going…

Realistic but concrete goals in 3rd tri?
I'm about 27 weeks, so not quite in my 3rd trimester. I've been doing full-body strength training three day a week, plus walking almost every day. I'm having a hard time seeing the big picture, what my long-term goal is between now and delivery. Obviously I want to "maintain fitness" and "control weight gain". But I know…

Looking for a funny video
I can't find it anywhere! It was a funny video of somebody famous doing "no hands" pull ups. I can't remember who it was or where I saw it, and not finding it through google or YouTube. Anybody know? I really NEED to show my kid! :) TIA!

Prayer while exercising
I am working to pray more regularly. I find it easy to work out daily so I thought to turn that into prayer time as well. It feels like cheating, though. Anybody else? How do you combine spiritual and physical exercise?

Nutrition Coaching
Have you ever worked with a nutrition coach (or are you one)? Can you please share your experience on how you find somebody to work with?

Question for the younger folks
I don't want to sound like a crabby old woman, but are Thank You Cards a thing of the past? If so, that's really a shame. A general "shout out" on FB doesn't quite cut it for things like wedding gifts, IMHO.

Online personal trainer/coach
I'm thinking about finding one and would like to hear your experiences and advice. It would be better to work with somebody IRL of course, but I live in the middle of nowhere, 40 miles from the nearest gym. I'm mainly wanting guidance on setting up a program of exercise to follow at home. I'd also like advice regarding…

Training a new running buddy
<--- There she is, my new running buddy. She doesn't have the best leash manners yet, so she pulls pretty strong. We got the anti-pull harness, adverrtised to "stop pulling instantly". Yeah, doesn't keep her from pulling, but at least she isn't strangling herself. Vet recommended a head collar, but I think those…

Feeling Squats in Hip Flexors
I hope this isn't a stupid question! I'm not really following the program yet, but doing workouts from Stage 1, lifting two days a week. I have been doing this since the beginning of September. I'm not exactly new to weight training, but (obviously) new to this program. My equipment is limited and I do not have access to a…

How do I do this?
Hi, I just joined the group. I am breastfeeding my 3mo baby and I think I need to try eliminating dairy from my diet. He isn't colicky, but he has always been very gassy and he poops very green. What I've read seems to indicate that he is possibly sensitive to something in my diet, and dairy is the most likely…

? about tracking body fat %
Is there a general rule as to how quickly body fat % can be reduced? (Like the "pound a week" guideline for weight loss.) Also, how often should body fat be measured, weekly? Monthly? Other?

gearing up for the new school year
And I bet I'm not the only one, LOL! This year I have five students grades K through 10, plus my soon-to-be-18yo who is studying for his GED, plus a pre-schooler and a new baby. I'm very concerned about how to get it all done plus keep up with my exercise routine. I like to workout six days a week, usually at least 45…

Tips to make measuring and logging food easier
Hi all! I'm hoping to learn some tricks to make logging easier. I've just had a baby so things are a little... busy. He's a month old so I'm not ready to restrict calories yet, but want to get in the habit of logging. Please share any time-saving tips you might have! Thank you! :flowerforyou:

Anyone else planning a home birth?
I am due in June with our 8th. Our first four were born in the hospital, the rest have been at home. If all goes well we are hoping for another home delivery. :) Anybody else?

Where do you live?
Answer can be as general or specific as you want it to be.

Hurry Up Spring!
I didn't grow up in the UP and I am NOT used to having snow on the ground at Easter (or Mother's Day for that matter, LOL!) I want to go barefoot and put in my garden and be able to check the mail without bundling up! I want to wear short sleeves again! Spring, please hurry! :flowerforyou:

HOW do you school?
Do you school-at-home? Unschool? Somewhere in between? How long have you been doing it, and how is it working out? I'm curious!

Runners- ? TM vs. road
If running on a treadmill is "easier" (less resistance, different mechanics, etc) then why do I consistently pace better on my outdoor runs than indoors, with the same perceived exertion? Anybody else notice this? My typical pace outdoors is currently about 12:00; on the treadmill about 13:30. (I'm about 6 months pregnant…

pregnant- not eating all my calories
My diary is public so feel free to take a peek. 19 weeks pregnant, obviously I'm not dieting to lose weight so I have MFP set for "maintenance". At 5"11" pre-preg weight of 185 that has me eating 2200 calories a day plus whatever I earn for exercise. I've been back to logging (mostly) daily for about two weeks and…

Working Nights!
Who else? I've been doing varying shifts for the last several months and now I am exclusively on night shifts, the standard 11 to 7. I haven't been logging my meals at all because I'm still getting used to "breakfast" at 3 in the afternoon and "dinner" at 3 or 4 a.m. So, if you work nights, what does your daily schedule…

Height makes it harder to keep up?
Certain workouts- especially those by Jillian Michaels (for example, her yoga vid) are really hard for me to keep up with. Anybody else notice the same thing? I've blamed it on being taller- how can a six foot frame move up and down as quickly as a petite woman? WDYT?
