Working Nights!

Who else? I've been doing varying shifts for the last several months and now I am exclusively on night shifts, the standard 11 to 7. I haven't been logging my meals at all because I'm still getting used to "breakfast" at 3 in the afternoon and "dinner" at 3 or 4 a.m.
So, if you work nights, what does your daily schedule look like as far as work, sleep, meals, and exercise?

I'm working 6pm to 6am, I basically wake up at 11, eat and workout, take a nap go into work and workout again. Then eat and snack throughout the night on little stuff like almonds, fruit or whatever I can find at 7-11...Prolly not a big help now that I think about it.0

worked nights, and changed my logging habits here on MFP my first meal on waking was breakfast regardless of the time of day, last meal before bed was dinner and I'd log all them on the day I'd be on when heading to bed so I could get the 'completed diary' note to the feed.0

I typically eat my first meal of the day around midnight-2am. "Lunch" would be about 6am-8am and dinner anywhere from 11-2pm as 2pm is my "bedtime"0

I've been working a 7 pm to 7 am split shift (5 on 5 off) for 6 years. I work out every morning regardless of the day, If I wait , it usually won't get done. I try to log all my meals, but it doesn't always happen consistantly. According to if I'm working, breakfast/dinner is at 5 pm, lunch at 1 am or pm and dinner is the hard one.. On days off, I eat normally, when I am working I usually have a protien bar or shake before working out, then bed. Back up and at it by 4:30pm. On the days I'm working I have problems meeting my calorie goal for the day.0

Thanks for all the replies! I'm resolving to start logging all food again when I get my new tablet. The tip to put it on the next day's entry to get it finished in time is especially helpful.0

I work 12 hour rotating shifts, 2 days, 2 nights 5 off. I just have my diary split into 6 meals, Meal 1, Meal 2 etc. I eat on the same "schedule" all the time, about every 2-4 hours. It seems to be working so far...I just eat much smaller meals.0

Hello All!
First things first no matter what shift you work always prepare all food you will need to take with you! No matter how hard or how often you workout you WILL NOT out train a nutrition plan with holes in it. As far as when to eat you always want to be eating every 3- 4 hours. Be it a snack or meal. I used to have to be to work at 6am everyday and when I got off I found myself always too tired, because of the physicality of my job so I began skipping workouts until I made what some would call a drastic decision! The decision was to wake up at 3am workout (P90X) Monday-Friday, eat breakfast, shower, get ready for work. It was the Best decision ever as it set the tone each day to be Awesome!
If you are going to put your body through all the stress and strain, sweat, soreness of working out why?? why?? why?? would you want to shoot yourself in the foot by NOT eating the right foods ALL the time? It's just one cheat meal right? Well on average that one cheat meal will set your progress back 3 days! It's just not worth it. Put yourself first and make whatever adjustments necessary to achieve your goals. Consistency and Accountability is HUGE!!0
