  • I've been doing more and more raw, but just this week I'm going for 100 percent or very nearly. No packages, boxes, bags, or cans... I'm a little "nervous" as I'm traveling next week. But we'll see. Might have to have canned stuff on my salad. Oh, well. I saw mention of a database... but can't find it here. Am I just…

  • Love that movie... and message!!!
  • You can eat quinoa and wheat is sprouts...
  • I agree with many of the posts here - esp. that it's easier than ever before. I LOVE the "not dropping meat, but crowding it out..." So true. I stopped eating cows and pigs in 1996... chickens and fish in 2007 and went full on vegan in early 2009. All decisions I have never regretted. My only regret is not doing it all…
  • That humans need to eat meat to live / grow muscle / be an athlete / whatever else.
  • not close geographically... but I'm vegan! Hi!
  • Doesn't have to equal piling on pounds... If carbs come from fruits and vegetables and whole foods,,,
  • Oh - and don't stress out over protein. That is how we have been programmed by marketing... Not really what we need. Less is more with protein and fat. None is bad, too much is bad, some is just right. See forks over knives (as someone else mentioned) or read some of what I mentioned. Pg
  • Absolutely. I agree. Have been vegan for 3 years, vegetarian before that. Have never been / felt better. Books that I love: china study, skinny *****, anything by Colleen Patrick Goudreau Huge evidence - both anecdotal and purely scientific - on the benefits of vegetarian living. Happy to help in any way I can. I love to…
  • I do a blog/ site once in a while.... Just for fun. Http://www.popvegonline.com Early was vegetarian, then became vegan. There are some really good things there... IMHO. Lol

  • And a glass of red wine!! But not in the bath, in a glass.
  • I have the book and LOVE it too. I even have it in iBooks so I can refer to it when I'm on the road. I must admit I haven't used a lot of the recipes, but it did / does help me drive my choices. I'm vegan... have been for about 3 years, vegetarian before that. Have never felt better and have never looked back. Sure did…
  • Thank goodness for YOUR quote. Language is subjective... it's written to be "engaging" and "direct"... and it is that. The science quoted is real - and is backed up many times over. Meat is making us sicker and sicker and fatter and fatter. The stats are pretty clear. If we ate a BIT of meat with a plate full of veggies…
  • You can eat a salad with every meal - it's super healthy. But - as poster earlier said... beware of high fat / high calorie dressings. I like just using Balsamic Vinegar without any oil... low cal, gives salad a zing, and works for me. Most Americans don't eat anywhere NEAR the right amount of salad vegetables... not to…
  • Yes. Simple answer. You have to be "real" and look for the occasional one that's out of whack, but for most exercises I've seen... it's right on. I've lost nearly 23 pounds so far.. .and it's working for me.
  • Oh - one more thing (sorry I didn't do all this in one post!!!) Read this book>>>>>> SKINNY ***** It's funny, has fantastic scientific data and research in a fun to read and easy to digest form. It's amazing... so good. There. I'm done. :-)
  • Morningstar has some great stuff - but if you aren't wanting eggs, watch their ingredients. My FAVORITE sub is Gardein... amazing stuff.
  • I was waiting for someone to say that... so many veggies have good protein. Quiona is good, too... superfood. I've been vegan for a few years... vegetarian prior... and haven't' eaten pigs or cows since 96... I don't miss a thing. My doctor wishes his other patients would go veg because of the impact it has had on my…
  • I have disk issues in my lower back... Had to stop running completely. No I only bike and walk at 4 mph... I can do a light jog and back begins to hurt... But fast walk is okay. Have you had an mri? Do you know the cause?
  • Hi! First of all, congratulations on an amazing, life affirming accomplishment. I'm curious,,, how did you lose so much? Fantastic. I have a tenth grade son who plays oboe. Amazing stuff. So - on bike seat. I am reading ride your way lean ... And they don't put q lot of emphasis on the seat. They say that the two bones in…
  • Congrats!! Happy to help with recipes or support!! I just started year 3 vegan (was veg before that... For a couple of years & haven't eaten cows or piqs since 1996). Has been a journey for me... And a great one. Again - happy to help with any insight I might have! Best Patrick

  • Just more personal perspective - I haven't eaten beef or pork since 1996... was vegetarian for years and in my 3rd year vegan. Have never felt better... have never exercised more... and blood work is better than ever all around. I'm in much better shape in my 40s than I was as a meat-eater in my 20s. And yes, activity and…

  • Jim - thanks! It is Vitamin Code - Garden of life - vegan. Not SURE that's it... but looking likely. I go back to allergist on Friday - hope to learn something.
  • Do some research on the protein... the range the USDA recommends for adults over 19 - is from 10 percent to 35 percent!! (http://www.cnpp.usda.gov/Publications/DietaryGuidelines/2010/PolicyDoc/Chapter2.pdf). That's a SERIOUSLY wide range. In his book The China Study, Dr. Campbell references a huge amount of work that he…
